Today I wanted to appreciate finally being able to use a standing desk at my home office!

I have finally bought a standing desk! I have unfortunately been putting it off for years lol
I know that I'm incredibly fortunate in lots of areas of my life, work in particular. I am able to do what I love to do, combine all kinds of different skills and aspects of life. One of the big areas that I know and appreciate very much is that I can work from home exclusively in the work, which is such a huge benefit for me compared to the crazy commute I was doing years ago!
Working in an office area is certainly something that I enjoyed, to be quite honest. The interaction with people and collaboration with someone in the hallway or their office space was something that I did routinely on a daily or weekly basis. What was not viable for me though was the insane commute that I had to endure in order to be able to do that type of crap!
Fast forward to now where I am working exclusively from my home office and one of the things that I did miss was a proper office setup that helps me do the best work. I took one step recently to making that a reality and bought myself a standing desk!
I have been putting off getting a standing desk for a long time, one of the main considerations and constraints to that was because where we live, in the condo that we are in, we don't really have a lot of space when it comes down to it at the end of the day. We most definitely have a sufficient amount of space for our living situation right now, but we could definitely use some more. We have been purging and throwing shit out that we don't want or need any longer and done some reorganizing of the various elements. This has allowed us to make better use of where we are living and also given us an opportunity to make some positive changes, the standing desk being one of them.
I'm also lucky in that the company I work for, which has a good amount of remote working people, is respectful of this work relationship and knows that it does them good if they give us some benefits to do our best work where we are. They offer a little bit of a perk in that they will reimburse me some of the money that it cost me to buy the office furniture like a standing desk because it's healthier for me as a person and will help me as an employee perform better when I can fluctuate my work situation for standing or sitting if I should choose to.
Since we rearranged the house about 8 weeks ago, one of the biggest losses for me was that I lost my home-made standing desk which was nothing more than a tall bureau that used to hold clothes in it, transformed into a place where my monitors and laptop would sit so I could work standing up. It wasn't the best scenario but it worked and it was doing the most with what I had. Since changing things around though, that bureau got repurposed and moved to another room where it wasn't really able to continue the role of a standing desk.
Since I lost that ability to fluctuate between sitting and standing, I can tell for sure that my back has taken a toll! I've had some back soreness and pains here and there over the past few weeks and it's definitely related to me sitting all the time for work instead of being able to stand for a few hours in the morning and then do a few hours sitting in the afternoon if I want. I need and really enjoyed this flexibility back in my life so I said fuck it, let's invest some money into a standing desk and make that jump!
One thing I'm worried about is that I had to get it off Amazon, as we do with so many things these days, so the quality is dubious. Time will tell if this is going to be a positive investment, but at the very least I am going to give it a try and see how it goes!
