As others know, I'm always determined to attain a high grade. Seeking academic validation from others is tiring, but I'm happy since the products of my perseverance always satisfy me in the end. That's why I feel sorry if most of the blogs I'm writing are all about academics, as I assume it is one of my main priorities in life. Although high grades don't measure your intelligence, for some, getting outstanding grades unlocks many opportunities. I promised myself I would do my best to get my deserved grades.
In my first three months as a college student, what strategies did I use to attain outstanding scores in every exam and quiz? I'll also rate it based on my experience because why not?
Making a reviewer using MS Word - 9.5/10
Believe it or not, I received compliments from my classmates because of my dedication to making a reviewer using MS Word. They often say, "Ang sipag mo naman..." or in English, "You are so industrious, man..." Not just hearing it from my classmates and friends on the internet. If you are in Noise app, you will see my posts bombarded with related study kinds of stuff. I could sell some of my prelim notes in StuDocu, but the site closed the door on our campus since they said the messages they collected were already enough. They priced higher in the major subject, while only $3 for my minor issues. I can still put my reviewers in Studypool, but it was not yet the right time. After enrolling in a private university, I began to perform this habit where I would type all the important details and make a whole reviewer out of it.
Reviewing in Yellow Pad - 9/10
For me, reviewing in Word alone is insufficient to retain the information I need to memorize. Therefore, a yellow paper joined me as my buddy in reviewing whenever I went. The first thing I do before I write it down is to memorize the words I will write. I like it as a medium since I can always bring it whenever I go, like going to my comfort room to take breaks, especially on public transportation. I don't know why I feel more focused while memorizing while going to school. The only downside is that it's very time-consuming, and you must be patient in writing all those. I'm not recommending writing reviewers if you don't have a plan yet to memorize it, as you're only wasting your time.
Pomodoro Technique - 10/10
Based on my experience, this is a highly recommended companion if you plan to review it intensely. I remember studying for about 3 hours without experiencing much fatigue, as I could still get short breaks. Doing those breaks helps to memorize the information easily. You can also use this technique while writing here to increase your concentration. But in my case, I'm not easily distracted while writing, so I can finish an article without many interruptions.
Making a reviewer using a binder - 8/10
Not bad, but not good. I wasted my precious time for nothing when I wrote all the important notes in my Rizal subject. The yellow paper is still the best for note-taking, in my opinion, as I'm more comfortable and faster to write with it. Imagine wasting a lot of hours on writing but using some sticky notes to memorize it. A binder will be more appealing, aesthetic, and effective if I print my typed reviewers.
Making a reviewer using Quizlet - 11/10
This is one of the best decisions of my life. He is my savior, and I was able to pass my back-to-back exam in my major subject, although I needed to review a lot of information. If I failed in his subject, I would be upset. Using their premium service is not expensive if you buy digital goods instead of directly. Aside from creating flashcards, you can also create automated practice tests to help you learn more effectively.
These methods will be better if I mix them well. That's why I'm aiming to buy a printer so that I can minimize my distractions. Thank you for reading.
