I got to the office on Monday and was feeling like I had $50,000,000 in my account. In real life there's nothing in my account 😂, I look back at my dreem post during the first challenge and I must confess it all came like a miracle. 6 weeks ago I was jobless, and without a working PC, today I'm with a pretty good job and a working PC with Christmas at the door. For the first time in a long while my family will be able to celebrate Christmas day and the holidays with me actively contributing to it. What else can a man ask for? The only thing remaining is learning to be proficient with Photoshop and learning crypto trading.
Tired from working on Tuesday
6 weeks ago I could only dream of these things, but today the little things I've dreamed about have become a reality. First, let's talk about my Job. I'm working with an oil and gas company that specializes in sales, distribution, and procurement of all NDT products. The company supplies to nations across West Africa and I just happen to be the new guy at the forefront ensuring that the company stays in business through digital marketing. Coming to look back at all the times I've failed as a digital marketer, times when I couldn't even get my designs right talkless reaching clients' goals.
I got this Job based on a commendation from the company I was working with as an intern. I put in so much effort to be retained by the company, but because my design skills weren't as great as the guy who was chosen over me, I wasn't retained. Today my design skills are far better than they used to be, I don't know how but it's as though I'm finally getting it right. I remember how nonchalant and skeptical I was when the company called me to invite me for an interview along with several others that came. After the first interview, which I was sure to crush, the second interview (practicals) came and I wasn't satisfied with my performance.
Smiling under work pressure
I was surprised when the company said I exceeded their expectations in the practical interview meanwhile I felt otherwise. I was the only one invited for the third stage of the interview, which was more technical as the company's CEO was fully present and his decision would determine my working with the company. I still felt I did not meet my own expectations, but on the other side, I'm now working with the company. I still have a lot to learn about NDT products and a lot of other training, but I can now see just how much I have grown and developed with time.
Yesterday and today came with a whole lot of pressure, but I was surprised how I handled them so calmly unlike before when I would panic and end up being caught up by the pressures. I've become more decisive, learning to listen more to my instincts which often save me from a lot of trouble, I've learned to give the right answers to impromptu questions and answer diplomatically to questions I do not have answers to without lying or keeping mute which has also helped in defending proposals. The job of a marketer is always very demanding and being a digital marketer is almost as demanding except I do mine from the comfort of my small office…
But then again, everything I have achieved today has been by grace, and also by hard work and continuous self-development. By the end of 2024, I'm certain I will be celebrating the holidays bigger and better physically with my family because I have now learned the importance of being intentional with my actions.
