Our bodies are made from the food we eat. To ensure that your body receives the nutrients it needs, it is helpful to have knowledge about foods and nutrients so that you can enjoy your meals while treating your body with care.
The nutrients our body needs are said to be protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, and minerals. Among them, I would like to write about carbohydrates in this article.
Many people may not have a concrete idea of what carbohydrates are. Carbohydrates are sugar and fiber.
When carbohydrates are ingested from the diet, they are broken down into glucose, which is then taken into the body through the small intestine. Glucose is used as energy and each gram of glucose can produce 4 kilocalories of energy. In particular, it is a source of energy for the brain and red blood cells.
Unused glucose is stored in the liver and in fat. If too much glucose is taken, the pancreas secretes insulin, which pushes the glucose into the muscles and fat. when large amounts of glucose flood the bloodstream, insulin cannot be secreted in time. This condition is hyperglycemia. when hyperglycemia occurs, the sugar flooding the blood begins to bind to proteins.
According to a study by Vlassara H et al. (Diabetes and advanced glycation endproducts), the accumulation of AGEs in the body accelerates the onset of diabetes complications and atherosclerosis.
The sugar diet is a dietary method to cut down on such sugars. It is true that the body can synthesize sugar from amino acids without taking carbohydrates from the diet. It also appears to be a rational diet because ketone bodies can be used in place of the sugar needed as a source of energy for the brain.
However, if sugar is ingested, these synthetic operations are unnecessary, and it can be thought that the body is burdened for this process. In addition, lactobacilli active in the intestines feed on glucose and lactose contained in sugar to increase the number of lactobacilli. It is possible that cutting sugar could affect the intestinal environment.
Since there are no studies that have investigated sugar restriction diets throughout a person's life, no one can say for sure whether it is a permanently useful diet. I myself do not try to force myself to cut out sugar, but rather consume it daily while being careful not to consume too much.
This is the end of this article.
Thank you for reading to the end. ^^
