Me encantan las películas y series de género fantasía, época, acción, ciencia ficción, eso no quiere decir que no pueda inclinar por otras, pero esas son mis preferidas, desde hace ya un tiempo tengo varias suscripciones a diferentes canales streaming como Netflix, Prime Video, HBO y Disney+, podía disfrutar unos más que otros o a ciertas horas por mi deficiente conexión a internet, pero gracias a mi actual internet fibra óptica he podido disfrutarlos mucho más así que me atreví a ver una serie que llamaba mi atención desde hace tiempo en Prime Video y quiero compartir mis impresiones con ustedes:
Carnival Row
Esta serie nos presenta un mundo de fantasía ambientado en la época Vitoriana, siglo XIX, en plena revolución industrial y nos narra la vida posguerra, luego de que los que la nación conocida como El pacto invadieran la tierra de las Hadas y otras criaturas fantásticas, lo que desato una guerra en la que estos seres se aliaron con el país conocido como El Burgo, este último al final se retiró y dejo a estos seres a merced del Pacto, así la tierra de las Hadas se vio invadida, así en busca de una mejor vida, tanto las Hadas, como Faunos, Centauros, Trolls, Kobolds, entre otros huyen de sus tierras al Burgo en búsqueda de un sueño, cualquier parecido con la realidad es mera coincidencia.
Esta serie se centra principalmente en dos personajes uno es Rycroft Philostrate interpretado por Orlando Bloom y Vignette Stonemoss interpretada por Cara Delevingne, esta última una Hada que se ha convertido en una contrabandista y ayuda a otras hadas a huir de su tierra, ya que vivir allí es un infierno, así ella también decide irse al Burgo donde luego de un naufragio se encuentra con su antigua amiga Tourmaline, quien le hace saber que Rycroft Philostrate, quien fue su amante durante la guerra, no está muerto como ella creía y es un reconocido inspector de la Policía del Burgo.
Esta serie costa de dos temporadas y en ella además de la trama que lógicamente gira en torno a los dos protagonistas nos comparte historias de otros personajes para introducirnos en el mundo y la situación social, económica y política de El Burgo, nos muestra como estos inmigrantes son marginados y en su mayoría viven en unas terribles condiciones en un callejón de nombre Carnival Row, allí todos estos seres sobreviven, dejado muchos de lado sus oficios y profesiones, vemos a médicos vendiendo carne en las calles y a poetisas prostituyéndose, sin olvidar que todos estos inmigrantes son constantemente maltratados y marginados por los habitantes del burgo y solo son aceptados si trabajan como obreros o servidumbre.
Esta serie, como ya mencioné, tiene solo dos temporadas en las que vemos desarrollarse intrigas, descubrirse secretos bien guardados por parte de la sociedad del Burgo y el Pacto, además de temas políticos que me hicieron sentir muy identificada con algunas situaciones que vivimos de manera reciente en algunos países. Así mismo la serie cuenta con calidad en cuanto a la presentación de los personajes fantásticos lucen muy reales, en cuanto a maquillaje se refiere, igual que la ambientación del lugar, vestuario, entre otros, por su parte los actores interpretan muy bien, lo que eran los modelos de la época, esas normas de etiqueta que rayaban en cinismo educado y la hipocresía entre ellos mismos.
Como es de esperar, en cada una de las temporadas hay un tema central en torno al cual gira la mayoría de las acciones de los personajes, siempre envueltas en misterio, intriga y asesinatos, se descubren secretos, nacen y mueran relaciones, así como alianzas, se ve la corrupción de los políticos, en fin es una muy buena opción para entretenerse, con un final un poco inesperado, pero aceptable.

En resumen, es una serie para los amantes del drama, fantasía y época, con una buena trama, música, escenografía y mucho más, se las recomiendo ampliamente, me despido esperando haberlos animado a verla si no lo han hecho y de haberlo hecho pueden compartir sus comentarios.

Carnival Row
This series presents a fantasy world set in the time Vitoriana, nineteenth century, in full industrial revolution and tells us the post-war life, after the nation known as The Pact invaded the land of the Fairies and other fantastic creatures, which unleashed a war in which these beings were allied with the country known as El Burgo, The latter finally withdrew and left these beings at the mercy of the Pact, so the land of the Fairies was invaded, and in search of a better life, both the Fairies, as Fauns, Centaurs, Trolls, Kobolds, among others flee their lands to the Burgh in search of a dream, any resemblance to reality is mere coincidence.
This series focuses mainly on two characters one is Rycroft Philostrate played by Orlando Bloom and Vignette Stonemoss played by Cara Delevingne, the latter a Fairy who has become a smuggler and helps other fairies to flee their land, since living there is hell, so she also decides to go to the Burgh where after a shipwreck she meets her old friend Tourmaline, who lets her know that Rycroft Philostrate, who was her lover during the war, is not dead as she thought and is a recognized inspector of the Police of the Burgh.
This series has two seasons and in addition to the plot that logically revolves around the two protagonists, it shares stories of other characters to introduce us to the world and the social, economic and political situation of El Burgo, shows us how these immigrants are marginalized and mostly live in terrible conditions in an alley called Carnival Row, There all these beings survive, leaving aside their trades and professions, we see doctors selling meat in the streets and poets prostituting themselves, without forgetting that all these immigrants are constantly mistreated and marginalized by the inhabitants of the burg and are only accepted if they work as laborers or servants.
This series, as I already mentioned, has only two seasons in which we see intrigues develop, well-kept secrets are discovered by the society of the Burgh and the Pact, as well as political issues that made me feel very identified with some situations that we live recently in some countries. Also the series has quality in terms of the presentation of the fantastic characters look very real, as far as makeup is concerned, as well as the setting of the place, costumes, among others, for their part the actors interpret very well, what were the models of the time, those rules of etiquette that bordered on polite cynicism and hypocrisy among themselves.
As expected, in each of the seasons there is a central theme around which most of the actions of the characters revolve, always wrapped in mystery, intrigue and murder, secrets are discovered, relationships are born and die, as well as alliances, the corruption of politicians is seen, in short it is a very good choice for entertainment, with a slightly unexpected ending, but acceptable.
