I am still in search of audiovisual creations that document facts based on real life; knowing the experience of an event that had an impact on the world population, due to the consequences of the problem is important to me. The title of the documentary, The Anthrax Attacks, interested me immediately, my mind visualized two scenarios, one, terrorism in spreading fear to the collective; and the other, the role of science doing studies to determine the origin. In short, the documentary fulfills the purpose of promoting analysis through the different sources of information that make up the tragic event. I affirmed that the work caught me instantly, I am satisfied with this screening and I will now explain the details.
The documentary, The Anthrax Attacks of 2022, is directed by Dan Krauss, an Oscar-nominated filmmaker known for his other creations, which is no guarantee of a successful documentary, but as far as I am concerned it is. The film structures the files of the FBI's investigation into the post 9/11 anthrax spore letters in the U.S., a situation that spread fear in society. The director decides to share the facts so that the viewer receives the information in 90 minutes, so he can reflect and draw conclusions about how the terrorist "attacks" were dealt with.

Images of tiny anthrax spores are the beginning of a visual recording that recreates the speech of a professional to understand how the bacteria kills. The introductory, with a level of tension, threads the visual data of the phenomenon, i.e., videos from 2001 show the urgency that the United States was going through. The plot is revealed, there are no secrets, the premise is fecundated on the credibility of the investigation executed by the FBI. The game of dialogues and narration give shape to the errors of the investigation; the analysis of the information collected, unreliable to look for the culprits; the high expense and time that the investigation took; last but not least, the indifference of those responsible for the deceased, their families and those who suffered for having contact with the anthrax. Therefore, from beginning to end I remained interested in encountering a disturbing and uncertain reality represented in a fictitious film.
The dynamism of the documentary invites you to be attentive to every detail, the construction of the projection combines interviews, script and visual documents. There are passages where the interviews testify positions that show weakness and at the same time power. The testimonies of those affected express feelings and opinions about the general experience of the attacks, how the problem was dealt with and how to pinpoint a culprit. Also, the documentary has scripted scenes where the actor, Clark Gregg, portrays Dr. Bruce Ivins, the distinguished investigator, the one singled out as the culprit; the actor's performance is, in height, an insecure man fighting with demons, based on thoughts extracted from FBI records.

The cinematography speaks of a distressing theme, chemicals as a terrorist weapon and the role of laboratories in society; some think that laboratory houses need to wreak havoc on health to then offer a solution and stay alive. Another recurring reality in this type of documentary drama, is the participation of the media and their struggle to take the reins of the news no matter what; however, the media also pushed for the case to be solved after a long time after the attacks.
I ask the usual question in my posts Why should I watch The Anthrax Attacks? I confirm that
it is entertaining and informative because the director managed from his point of view to share the story from the archival data and important people involved in the attacks. Likewise, the documentary, leads you to rethink about the evidence presented by the FBI, since everything is possible. The truth of the end is open, the viewer is the judge to determine who is guilty. Finally, the victims will always be the least valued when the status of an organization is in danger, a motive that generates disappointment and annoyance, the documentary conveys astonishment at the lightness of the matter or gaps in the investigation.
