Happy start of the week to everyone.
This weekend was a weekend of rest, as usual, and I took the opportunity to watch a movie with my family. I liked it so much that I wanted to review it and share it here with you. It's one of the most popular movies on Netflix this week, a clear homage to 90's cinema, clear references to Clueless, a great refreshing comedy that leaves you wanting more. Come with me to watch the recently released Do Revenge.

Watching this movie was totally spur of the moment, because we had planned to watch on HBO Max the new "Elvis", but when we settled in and started looking for the movie, we realized that the HBO plan was over, so while we were sorting out that problem, we said we better look for something on Netflix.
We had dinner ready, some delicious homemade hot dogs, our panela juice, fully settled in the beds to watch the movie, and there, in the top of the most popular on Netflix, was it, a movie that stood out, it was the ideal teen comedy. We watched the other options on the top, but none of them caught our attention. And it had a great casting, Camila Mendes (Riverdale), Maya Hawke (Stranger Things) and Austin Abrams (Euphoria) among the top names.
We got down to work to enjoy this movie, and I, personally, had high expectations. Here I leave you the trailer so you can enjoy this review with me as it should be.
✨Synopsis✨
Drea, the school's scholarship queen, deals with the leak of her sex tape, which leads her to meet Eleanor, someone whom the rumors also tore apart, now they both plan to get revenge... on each other's bullies.

In the movie, we start portraying Drea (Camila Mendes) as the typical queen of the campus, the queen bee of the popular ones, but this time she is not a rich cradle like all her classmates, she has fought hard for her place there, she is a scholar but she is the perfect student and that keeps her with an important status. Her social circle is the elite of the school.
Just after the party where the film begins, we see how before the summer and therefore the vacations, Max (Austin Abrams), Drea's boyfriend, asked her for an intimate video to "not miss her". She, in love, decides to send the video. The next day, at school, everyone starts pointing at her and talking about her. The video had been leaked, so everything pointed to Max having sent the video to everyone. Drea, full of rage, throws a tremendous punch in Max's face, which gets her in serious trouble and puts her scholarship at risk.
On vacation, Drea is sent to work at a tennis camp, where she is harassed because of the video and meets Eleanor (Maya Hawke). Upon returning from the tennis camp, they leave together and it is where Eleanor has the opportunity to tell what happened to her. Carissa, a girl at a camp 13 years earlier, made up the rumor that Eleanor was a lesbian and tried to kiss her, which made her look like a harasser.
Back at school and with Eleanor as the new transfer, the two come up with a plan to get back at their stalkers by taking advantage of the fact that no one knew they were friends. They couldn't get revenge directly on their stalkers, so they came up with a plan for Drea to attack Carissa and Eleanor to go after Max.
We see the classic makeover that they give to the disheveled Eleanor, all the dyes and references to the classics of the second half of the 90's, something that I personally love, it is a super cliché scene and with clothes that could easily use a Cher (Clueless) today.
The plan goes smoothly with the revenge, but then Drea starts to lose her mind with the whole revenge thing, and then she loses her chance to get into Yale, which makes the thirst for revenge completely cloud her mind. That's when, along comes the unexpected plot twist....
🚨Spoiler Alert!!!🚨
We see how Eleanor is actually the villain of the movie, after she and Drea argued, Drea went to the tennis camp to find out Carissa's side of the story regarding what had happened. Carissa reveals to Drea that the one who invented the rumor about Eleanor, whose real name was Nora, was Drea herself. The protagonist ties up all the loose ends and realizes that it was all about Eleanor's revenge on her.
Then, in a twisted and humorous way, both, after almost ruining each other's lives, manage to solve their differences and defeat the real enemy, Max and his infinite hypocrisy, making him admit that he was the one who leaked the video. Both have a happy ending although, if you ask me, I wouldn't be friends with someone who did so many things to hurt me. But it's a black comedy with teenage protagonists, so it's the perfect ending.

Let's start by saying that I'm a fan of a good black comedy, they're irreverent, full of nods to popular culture and with a humor that generally fascinates me. From there, I knew I would like this movie, progressive enough and full of modernism without leaving aside the characteristic of the rom-coms of the 90's, almost like a mix of Scream and Clueless, at least in my opinion.
A well-deserved 8.5, because you can certainly have an excellent time watching it. Although at home, I was the only one who can say I loved it, because to the rest of my family, it seemed a little weak, but they are not really fans of the genre. Anyway, we are all entitled to an opinion.
The soundtrack, in my opinion, I thought was completely exquisite, I stifled a little scream when Brutal by Olivia Rodrigo started. The costumes, the images, the performances, from my point of view, a tremendous Netflix movie worth watching. I plan to repeat it about three times minimum, hahaha.

Not only in my opinion the movie is good, because according to professional critics, it has a relatively high score, receiving an average of 66 / 100. In addition to this, it has a high popularity on Netflix at the moment, being just released. I highly recommend it to you and I hope that, if you give it a chance, you will tell me what you thought of it and if it was worth it.

RESEÑA DE PELÍCULA
Feliz inicio de semana para todos.
Este fin de semana fue de descanso, como siempre, y aproveché para ver una película en familia. Me gustó tanto que me dieron todas las ganas de hacerle una reseña y venir a compartirla acá con ustedes. Se trata de una de las más populares de Netflix en esta semana, un claro homenaje al cine de los 90, claras referencias a Clueless, una genial comedia refrescante que te deja con ganas de más. Ven conmigo a ver la recién estrenada Revancha ya.
🍿Antes de empezar…🍿
Ver esta película fue totalmente de improvisto, porque teníamos pensado ver en HBO Max la nueva “Elvis”, pero cuando nos instalamos y empezamos a buscar la película, nos dimos cuenta que el plan de HBO se había acabado, entonces mientras solucionábamos ese problema, dijimos que era mejor buscar algo en Netflix.
Ya teníamos la cena lista, unos deliciosos perros calientes hechos en casa, nuestro jugo de panela, totalmente instalados en las camas para ver la película, y ahí, en las más populares de Netflix, estaba ella, una película que resaltaba, era la comedia adolescente ideal. Vimos las demás opciones del top, pero ninguna nos llamó la atención. Y es que tenía un casting genial, Camila Mendes (Riverdale), Maya Hawke (Stranger Things) y Austin Abrams (Euphoria) entre los principales nombres.
Nos pusimos manos a la obra para disfrutar de esta película, y yo, en lo personal, tenía las expectativas altas. Acá les dejo el tráiler para que disfruten conmigo de esta reseña como es debido.
✨Sinopsis✨
Drea, la reina becada de la escuela, se enfrenta a la filtración de su video sexual, lo que la lleva a conocer a Eleanor, alguien a quien los rumores también destrozaron, ahora ambas planean vengarse… de los acosadores de la otra.
🎥Resumen🎥
En la película, nos empiezan a retratar a Drea (Camila Mendes) como la típica reina del campus, la abeja reina de las populares, pero esta vez no se trata de una rica de cuna como todos sus compañeros, ella ha luchado arduamente por su puesto allí, es una becada pero es la estudiante perfecta y eso la mantiene con un status importante. Su círculo social es la élite de dicha escuela.
Justo después de la fiesta donde empieza la película, vemos como antes de empezar el verano y por ende las vacaciones, Max (Austin Abrams), el novio de Drea, le pidió un video íntimo para “no extrañarla”. Ella, enamorada, decide enviar el video. Al día siguiente, en la escuela, todos empiezan a señalarla y hablar de ella. El vídeo se había filtrado, por lo que todo apuntaba a que Max había enviado el vídeo a todos. Drea, llena de furia, le propina un tremendo golpe en la cara a Max, lo que la mete en serios problemas y pone en riesgo su beca.
En vacaciones, Drea es enviada a trabajar en un campamento de tenis, donde el acoso por culpa del video la persiguen, ahí es donde conoce a Eleanor (Maya Hawke). De regreso del campamento de tenis, se van juntas y es donde Eleanor tiene la oportunidad de contar lo que le pasó a ella. Carissa, una chica en un campamento 13 años atrás, inventó el rumor de que Eleanor era una lesbiana y trató de besarla, lo que la hizo quedar como una acosadora.
De vuelta en la escuela y con Eleanor como la nueva recién transferida, ambas se les ocurre el plan de, para vengarse de sus acosadores, aprovecharse de que nadie sabía que ellas eran amigas. No podían vengarse directamente de sus acosadores, así que idearon un plan para que Drea atacara a Carissa y Eleanor fuera a por Max.
Vemos el clásico makeover que le dan a la desaliñada Eleanor, todos los tintes y referencias a los clásicos de la segunda mitad de los 90, algo que a mí en lo personal me encanta, es una escena súper cliché y con ropas que fácilmente podría usar una Cher (Ni idea) en la actualidad.
El plan marcha viento en popa con la venganza, pero luego Drea empieza a perder la cordura con todo el tema de la venganza, aunado a esto, pierde su oportunidad de entrar en Yale, lo que hace que la sed de venganza nuble por completo su mente. Es entonces cuando, llega el inesperado giro de trama…
🚨¡¡¡Alerta de Spoiler!!!🚨
Vemos como Eleanor es en realidad la villana de la película, luego de que Drea y ella discutieran, Drea fue al campamento de tenis a averiguar la versión de Carissa con respecto a lo que había pasado. Carissa le revela a Drea que la que inventó el rumor de Eleanor, cuyo verdadero nombre era Nora, fue la misma Drea. La protagonista ata todos los cabos y se da cuenta que todo se trató de una venganza de Eleanor hacia ella.
Luego, de una forma retorcida y humorística, ambas, después de casi arruinar la vida de la otra, logran solucionar sus diferencias y vencer al verdadero enemigo, Max y su infinita hipocresía, haciéndolo admitir que fue él quien filtró el video. Ambas tienen un final feliz aunque, si me preguntan a mí, no sería amiga de quien hizo tantas cosas para perjudicarme. Pero es una comedia negra con protagonistas adolescentes, así que es el final perfecto.

Empecemos diciendo que soy fanático de una buena comedia negra, son irreverentes, llenas de guiños a la cultura popular y con un humor que en lo general me fascina. Desde ahí, sabía que esta película me gustaría, lo suficientemente progresista y llena de modernismo sin dejar a un lado lo característico de las rom-com de los 90, casi como una mezcla de Scream y Clueless, al menos a mi parecer.
Un 8.5 bien merecido, porque sin duda alguna puedes pasar un excelente rato viéndola. A pesar de que en casa, fui el único que puede decir que le encantó, porque al resto de mi familia, le pareció un poco floja, pero ellos no son realmente fans del género. En fin, todos tenemos derecho a una opinión.
La banda sonora, a mi parecer, me pareció completamente exquisita, ahogué un pequeño grito cuando Brutal de Olivia Rodrigo empezó. El vestuario, las imágenes, las actuaciones, desde mi punto de vista, una tremenda película de Netflix que vale la pena ver. Tengo pensado repetirla unas tres veces mínimo, jajaja.
Puntaje sacado de Metacritic
No solo en mi opinión la película es buena, porque de acuerdo a los críticos profesionales, tiene una puntuación relativamente alta, recibiendo un promedio de 66 / 100. Además de esto, cuenta con una alta popularidad en Netflix en este momento, siendo apenas estrenada. Se las recomiendo altamente y espero que, de darle una oportunidad, me digan que les pareció y si valió la pena.
