Movie Review: Wonder Woman (2017)

The Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad are two superhero movies with different themes to Wonder Woman. In this movie Patty Jenkins looked neater. Some actions of Wonder Woman's scenes were really cool and there are humors that pervades each scene. Here I watched the topic of Wonder Woman was lighter.

Wonder Woman had the strength that was able to cover the weaknesses in the movie. Starting from CGI, the main enemy, plot, and dialogue seemed not worked carefully. There were always some action scenes where Wonder Woman looked like an animated doll whose movements were like rubber. The climax occurs in the last part, the weakest part of the movie. But we must thank to the shrewdness of Patty Jenkins, those flaws were felt to be faded with the presence of another charm that was able to make the audience understand.

The story of the Wonder Woman film was about Diana who lives in Themyscira with other Amazon women who of her tribe. She was trained since childhood to be prepared to face the threat of Ares who might attack Themyscira without being aware of by Diana and his friends. Unexpectedly an American soldier named Steve Trevor was stranded on Themyscira one day. Diana's humanitarian mission continues with trips to other parts of the world to stop World War I.

The movie's director, Patty Jenkins was doing very well even though she hasn't worked on movies for 14 years. The last movie of her was in 2003 Jenkins, Monster. So that in Wonder Woman, Patty Jenkins learned from the mistakes that were often made by DC in producing the movies. The mistakes such as allowing the producers to interfere too much were things to avoid. The result was that Wonder Woman becomes a fuller and more fluid spectacle. It was not as messy as Suicide Squad or sloppy edited like Batman v Superman.

One of the ways Patty Jenkins keeps audiences from focusing on the flaws of the film is the way he directs Gal Gadot. Shet was a charming actress but her acting skills have not been watched yet. The limitations of Gal Gadot's acting can still maximize by Patty Jenkins. The Wonder Woman character was deliberately created as a superhero who was still innocent and still stutters with the outside world. It was plain but has a little princess syndrome like a princess who just came out of her beautiful palace.

The Gal Gadot's acting didn't look stiff and the other characters were strengthened. One who deserves thumbs up was Steve Trevor, a character who was told in the comics as Wonder Woman's companion. This character was successfully played by Chris Pine. Chris Pine did help make the Wonder Woman movie shine.

This movie which has a thin border between being loved or hated was saved by the presence of Pine. This 36-year-old actor also succeeded in bringing Trevor's character to life with his charm and charisma.

Another great point of the movie was that the set is almost perfect. The scenes at Themyscira were simply gorgeous. Patty Jenkins was able to capture the charm of Basilicata, Italy's being

the shooting location for the island of Themyscira. In addition, the background of the Fisrt World War that had never been taken for a superhero-themed movie also looked good. This was capable of providing a very interesting war scene.

However, as well as Patty Jenkins can cover the shortcomings of this movie there were still some parts that. If you pay attention you will look quite disturbing. Even though this movie had great potential to become the best superhero movie ever made if it had been worked on more seriously.

The duration of the movie was the most disturbing problem. Somehow Wonder Woman had to be made into a 140-minute version for release in theaters. Anyway, yet if you cut it in several parts, this movie won't lose its meaning.
