I'm not going to lie, virtually every action movie I see these days is riddled with unnecessary woke brigade cringiness or just lacks substance. However, Hunter Killer is one movie that I absolutely enjoyed from start to finish.
Hunter Killer is a 2018 movie directed by Donovan Marsh. If you're a fan of high intensity movies with a splice of drama fused with world politics and good old fashioned gun slinging action, then this movie is 100% for you.
In a weird way, it was nice to see USA and Russia team up, in some way. In most Hollywood movies, it is always a Russian villain trying to blow up the World: this time, things were slightly different.
The plot of this movie follows a coup attempt on Russia and it turns out none other than the USA came in to the rescue.
I guess in some way, we could say it still has the underlying Hollywood thing if portraying USA as the good guys and it still did have a Russian villain that was ready to plunge the free world into a world war.
In this plot, the Russians and Americans actually worked together to stop the potential war from ensuing.
Impression
Overall, I'll say this was a very enjoyable watch that is mildly based on world events.
I like that during the movie, there was always awkwardness between the Americans and Russians in the same side.
I particularly enjoyed the fact that they didn't force any unnecessary woke brigade stuff into it. It was a straight up military movie from start to finish.
While the graphics and CGI could be better, I still think it was somewhat decent based on the budget.
If like me, you also enjoy action movies with gun battles, war ships, submarines and all that stuff, you should really see this movie.
I give this movie a 4/5 and I highly recommend you binge watch it on Netflix in your spare time.
