Estación Zombie: Tren a Busan, Train to Busan o Busanhaeng (su título original, romanizado del Hangul) es una película de acción-terror surcoreana, dirigida por Yeon Sang-ho y protagonizada por Gong Yoo, Ma Dong-seok, Jung Yu-mi, Kim Su-an, Kim Eui-sung, Choi Woo-shik y Ahn So-hee. Cuenta con una secuela independiente llamada Peninsula o Estación Zombie 2: Penísula.
Estación Zombie: Tren a Busan, Train to Busan or Busanhaeng (its original title, romanized from Hangul) is a South Korean action-horror film directed by Yeon Sang-ho and starring Gong Yoo, Ma Dong-seok, Jung Yu-mi, Kim Su-an, Kim Eui-sung, Choi Woo-shik and Ahn So-hee. It has a standalone sequel called Peninsula or Zombie Station 2: Peninsula.
Sinopsis/Synopsis
Seok-woo es un ejecutivo adicto al trabajo, egoísta, elitista y un padre divorciado. En el cumpleaños de su hija (a la que casi no presta atención por su trabajo) y tras un regalo fallido (una consola Wii que ya le había regalado previamente por el día del niño) además de la culpa que siente tras ver en un vídeo donde su hija no terminó su recital de la escuela porque él no fue a verla, decide entregarle el deseo que en verdad ella quiere: Ir a Busan con a ver a su madre.
Seok-woo is a workaholic executive, selfish, elitist and a divorced father. On his daughter's birthday (to whom he pays almost no attention because of his job) and after a failed gift (a Wii console that he had previously given her for Children's Day) plus the guilt he feels after seeing a video where his daughter didn't finish her school recital because he didn't go to see her, he decides to give her the gift she really wants: to go to Busan to see her mother.
Ambos toman un tren con destino a Busan, y justo antes del cierre de las puertas, abordan el tren un polizón sin hogar y una jovencita que tiene una mordida en una pierna. Una vez que el tren sale, la chica empieza a presentar convulsiones y posteriormente ataca a una de las asistentes del tren.
The two take a train to Busan, and just before the doors close, a homeless stowaway and a young girl with a bite on her leg board the train. Once the train departs, the girl begins to convulse and subsequently attacks one of the train attendants.
Debido a que la propagación de la «enfermedad» es bastante rápida, casi todos los pasajeros colapsan en los ataques, a excepción de algunos cuantos (entre ellos nuestros protagonistas) que se resguardan en uno de los vagones, y así inicia la sórdida aventura.
As the spread of the "disease" is quite rapid, almost all the passengers collapse in the attacks, except for a few (among them our protagonists) who take refuge in one of the wagons, and so begins the sordid adventure.
Review (Mi opinión)/ (My opinion)
Al ver esta película en plena pandemia, me generó una sensación de inquietud pues, en la primera escena, vemos como un pequeño camión de animales está pasando de un distrito a otro (o de una ciudad a otra) y hay personas con trajes de protección, rociando liquido desinfectante a cada vehículo que pasa (cosa que actualmente también se realiza) entonces, esa simple escena, hace que todo se sienta más real.
Watching this movie in the middle of the pandemic, I felt a sense of unease because, in the first scene, we wach how a small truck of animals is passing from one district to another (or from one city to another) and there are people in protective suits, spraying disinfectant liquid to each passing vehicle (something that is also done nowadays) so, that simple scene, makes everything feel more real.
La interpretación de los actores es excelsa, la fotografía y composición también lo es, los guiones y sobretodo la estructura pues, aunque la película casi en su totalidad se desarrolla en un tren que está casi siempre en movimiento, no se siente pesada ni aburrida en ningún momento. No está saturada de acción ni tampoco aburre en las escenas de desarrollo de dialogo porque ambas partes están ubicadas en la cantidad perfecta y muy bien distribuidas.
The performance of the actors is excellent, so is the photography and composition, the scripts and above all the structure because, although the film almost entirely takes place in a train that is almost always in motion, it doesn't feel heavy or boring at any time. It isn't saturated with action nor does it bore in the scenes of dialogue development because both parts are placed in the perfect amount and very well distributed.
La película en sí es una crítica social y política ya que, por un lado tenemos a un político que culpa del desastre a «unos manifestantes» (los infectados) que están generando violencia en el país, él pide calma porque el gobierno se ha encargado de todo y está controlando la situación.
The film itself is a social and political critique since, on the one hand we have a politician who blames the disaster on "some protesters" (the infected) who are generating violence in the country, he asks for calm because the government has taken care of everything and is controlling the situation.

Mientras este político da su discurso, vemos una sucesión de escenas que rebaten por completo lo que el hombre dice. Hay caos por toda Corea del Sur, la gente colapsa ante los ataques de los Zombies y se ven planos de diferentes ciudades en pánico y desastre.
As this politician gives his speech, we see a succession of scenes that completely refute what the man is saying. There is chaos all over South Korea, people collapse in the face of Zombie attacks and we wch shots of different cities in panic and disaster.
Una clara crítica a la desinformación, el cinismo y la incompetencia de muchos gobiernos en situaciones de emergencia.

Por otra parte, tenemos la crítica social, reflejada en los sobrevivientes del primer ataque y en el mismo protagonista quien, como ya mencioné antes, es bastante elitista y egoísta.

Podemos apreciar todo tipo de personalidades dentro del tren: los egoístas, los cobardes, los valientes, los benévolos, los elitistas y los que tienen varias de estas características.

Seok-woo es egoísta y solo busca su bienestar y el de su hija, Su-an. Ella es todo lo contrario, amable y benévola, pensando siempre en el bien común, parecida a su madre.

Esto nos lleva a hablar del desarrollo de personajes, una verdadera maravilla. Los diálogos están muy bien hechos y eso conlleva que los personajes crezcan y se desarrollen. Algunos cambian su manera de ver las cosas, ayudándose y apoyándose para sobrevivir, otros simplemente reafirman su egoísmo y cobardía. Una clara muestra de que las situaciones de emergencia pueden sacar lo mejor o lo peor de las personas.
This brings us to the character development, a real marvel. The dialogues are very well done and that leads the characters to grow and develop. Some of them change their way of seeing things, helping and supporting each other to survive, others simply reaffirm their selfishness and cowardice. A clear demonstration that emergency situations can bring out the best or the worst in people.
Ahora hablemos de los infectados o Zombies...

Si bien, según la ficción, un zombie es un cuerpo reanimado mediante virus, bacterias, parásitos o magia, y por lo general son lentos y desgarbados, su mayor peligro está en su fuerza desmedida y en su número, ya que usualmente van en «manadas» en Tren a Busan tienen su propia versión, más parecida a la de películas como Guerra Mundial Z o juegos como Letf 4 Dead
Although, according to fiction, a zombie is a body reanimated by virus, bacteria, parasites or magic and the're usually slow and ungainly, their greatest danger lies in their excessive strength and numbers, as they usually go in "herds" in Train to Busan they have their own version, more similar to that of movies like World War Z or games like Letf 4 Dead.
Estos eran infectados que podían correr, asechar, saltar y no les bastaba con comerse a quién atraparan, sino que iban por algún vivo más. Era como si su función (casi parasitaria) fuese propagar su infección, más que alimentarse.
These were infected that could run, stalk, jump and it wasn't enough for them to eat whoever they caught, they went after someone else alive. It was as if their function (almost parasitic) was to spread their infection, rather than to feed.
El hecho de que tengan unas condiciones tan ágiles, supone un gran riesgo para los protagonistas y es aquí donde radica el miedo y las partes de terror de la película en sí. Todas aquellas partes en las que estos tienen que enfrentarse a estas «criaturas».
The fact that they have such agile conditions means a great risk for the protagonists and this is where the fear and the horror parts of the film itself lie. All those parts in which they have to face these "creatures".
Sin embargo, una vez que no ven a alguien vivo, parecen entrar en reposo, sus habilidades cognitivas merman y únicamente son capaces de mantener activa la audición por encima de sus demás sentidos, cosa que descubren nuestros protagonistas mientras intentan cruzar los vagones infectados para llegar al otro grupo de supervivientes, y que juega un papel importante durante la misión.
However, once they don't see anyone alive, they seem to go to sleep, their cognitive abilities decline and they are only able to keep their hearing active over their other senses, something that our protagonists discover while trying to cross the infected wagons to reach the other group of survivors, and which plays an important role during the mission.
Es una película que tiene buenas dosis de tensión, miedo, humor e incluso drama, además de abordar temas sociales y comportamientos de una forma realista y bien desarrollada mientras deja a lo largo de su proyección, muchas enseñanzas sobre como estamos viviendo y como debemos vivir.
It's a film that has good doses of tension, fear, humor and even drama, in addition to addressing social issues and behaviors in a realistic and well-developed way and that leaves throughout its projection, many teachings about how we're living and how we should live.
