JUSTICE USUALLY DANCES WITH THE DEVIL AND, DEPENDING ON THE RHYTHM OF THE BEAT, WILL DICTATE THE SENTENCE TO THE CONDEMNED.

Films based on real events or that revolve around social situations where racism, politics and what is right or wrong for the common denominator is society, always seek to show that sad or weak side of a group of people who are still affected by obsolete thoughts that more than 50 years ago were the daily bread of a society that had no right to anything.

Nowadays we can say that we live a little bit of that which years ago was the cancer of a society that is only different because of its skin color, but that through its veins runs the same blood as the rest of the people around the world. I usually do not watch this type of movie where most of them use the same formula and a script with the same direction, nothing new or shocking can be achieved today that can surprise the most experienced viewer.

🇪🇸 LA JUSTICIA SUELE BAILAR CON EL DIABLO Y DEPENDE DEL RITMO QUE LE TOQUEN DICTARA SENTENCIA AL CONDENADO.

Las películas basadas en hechos reales o que giran a través de situaciones sociales donde el racismo, la política y lo que está bien o mal para el denominador común es decir la sociedad, siempre buscan mostrar ese lado triste o débil de un grupo de personas que aún siguen siendo afectado por pensamientos obsoletos que hace más de 50 años eran el pan de cada día de una sociedad que no tenía derecho a nada.

Actualmente podemos decir que vivimos un poco de eso que hace años era el cáncer de una sociedad que solo es diferente por su color de piel, pero que por sus venas corre la misma sangre que la del resto de las personas en todo el mundo. Suelo no ver este tipo de película donde la mayoría suele usar la misma fórmula y un guión con la misma dirección, nada nuevo o impactante se puede conseguir el día de hoy que pueda sorprender al espectador más experimentado.

MONSTER is a 2018 film that has an interesting script and part of the film is narrated using voiceover, which in this opportunity is perfect, as we can guide us through his thoughts and what he thinks but does not say. A very well used resource that does not generate distraction but quite the opposite.

🇪🇸 Pero en esta oportunidad las cosas parecen pintar diferente y aunque no sea la mejor película de su género o te haga pensar mucho si posee un giro muy interesante que puede servir de mucho para debatir y entender un poco más como las personas en una posición cómoda ven el mundo y como aquellos que sufren un ataque o se ven involucrado en una situación donde son juzgados pueden darle el giro a las cosas o simplemente utilizar a su favor los fallos del sistema

MONSTER es una película del año 2018 que cuenta con un guión interesante y parte de la película es narrada usando la voz en off, que en esta oportunidad es perfecta, ya que podemos guiarnos a través de sus pensamientos y de lo que piensa pero no dice. Un recurso muy bien utilizado que no genera distracción sino todo lo contrario.

WHAT'S THE MOVIE ABOUT?

We will know the story of a young man named Steve Harmon played by (Kelvin Harrison Jr), who will be involved in a delicate situation where an innocent man has died and he is a potential suspect and must fight to prove he is innocent, but it will not be easy, since everything seems to indicate that he is part of the tragic moment.

Everything starts with him inside the jail and a voice-over guides us through his every thought, from despair, confusion and knowing that he could lose years of his life behind bars for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. His future will only depend on a handful of people who do not see beyond what is in front of their eyes and that is so disturbing that anyone in his position can lose the horizon and fall under a dark and cold shadow.

Every moment and memory immerses us inside this boy's head, we see how his fears and doubts invade him and in a simple way we get to know every step he takes before arriving to the worst day of his life.

Conoceremos la historia de un joven llamado Steve Harmon interpretado por (Kelvin Harrison Jr), quien se verá involucrado en una situación delicada donde un hombre inocente ha muerto y él es un sospechoso en potencia y deberá luchar por demostrar que es inocente, pero no será nada fácil, ya que todo parece indicar que es parte del trágico momento.

Todo inicia con él dentro de la cárcel y una voz en off nos guía por cada uno de sus pensamientos, desde la desesperación, confusión y saber que puede perder años de su vida tras las rejas por estar en el lugar y momento incorrectos. Su futuro solo dependerá de un puñado de personas que no ven más allá de lo que está frente a sus ojos y eso es tan perturbador que cualquiera en su posición puede perder el horizonte y caer bajo una sombra oscura y fría.

Cada momento y recuerdo nos sumerge dentro de la cabeza de este chico, vemos como sus miedos y dudas lo invaden y de manera sencilla conocemos cada paso que da antes de llegar al peor día de su vida.

He will meet a boy named Willian King played by (ASAP Rocky) who he will meet casually in the neighborhood, this young man will move every piece he has to capture the attention of Steve, who will adopt him as his protégé and show him that hidden side that he can't see through the screen of his camera, but that will also get him into this big trouble.

Everything develops at a slow pace, but with great precision, showing randomly different moments of Steve's life before arriving to court and in this way we will be able to put together each piece of the puzzle and know if he is guilty or not. A film that can confuse you, but also make you see clearly the failures of the system and how this kind of situations can go out of context and that sadly we live in a society that does not think for itself, but for what others will say.

🇪🇸 Steve Harmon, es un joven aplicado, inteligente, con una familia que lo ama, sueña con ser cineasta profesional y lleva consigo todo el tiempo una cámara de video que usa para grabar momentos de su día a día para crear un cortometraje que muestre su lado artístico.

Conocerá a un chico llamado Willian King interpretado por (ASAP Rocky) quien conocerá casualmente en el barrio, este joven moverá cada pieza que tiene para captar la atención de Steve, el cual lo adoptara como su protegido y le mostrara ese lado oculto que no puede ver a través de la pantalla de su cámara, pero que también lo meterá en este gran problema.

Todo se desarrolla con un ritmo lento, pero con mucha precisión, mostrando de manera aleatoria diferentes momentos de la vida de Steve antes de llegar a la corte y de esa forma podremos ir armando cada pieza del rompecabezas y saber si es culpable o no. Una película que te puede confundir, pero también hacerte ver con claridad los fallos del sistema y como este tipo de situaciones pueden salirse de contexto y que tristemente vivimos en una sociedad que no piensa por sí misma, sino por el que dirán los demás.

I TRY IN EACH OF MY REVIEWS TO BE AS OBJECTIVE AS POSSIBLE, BUT WITHOUT LEAVING ASIDE WHAT I FEEL AND UNDERSTAND ABOUT THE MAIN PLOT, MAYBE I'M A BIT RADICAL AND SOMETIMES I DON'T GIVE SECOND CHANCES, BUT I'M AN INTENSE MOVIEGOER AND I HAVE TO GET ALL THE JUICE OUT OF THE FILM.

LET'S TALK ABOUT THE CHARACTERS

The film has several characters that really do not impact enough to want to talk about them and make it a starting point, but I think it is necessary that you know some characters that will leave in me a raw and direct message, I will not tell you what you can get in reviews or pages of moviegoers on Google, I will tell you from my point of view a little about these characters.

• Anthony Petrocelli played by (Paul Ben Victor), is the prosecuting attorney who will take on the task of creating confusion and justice through what he believes is right and wrong. A character that caught my attention and reminds me of those who, taking advantage of their position, do whatever it takes to fill with garbage those who cannot defend themselves.

The truth is a very complete character who has only one goal and that is to push every test to the limit to prove his point, which is that if you are singled out it is because you must be hiding something.

• Willian King played by (ASAP Rocky), who represents the street, a boy who knows how to move through places that many do not understand and who lives under the law of the strongest, a sample of what life is like in the slums and that for many is the university of life.

A character so organic that you can fall into his deceptions, but without feeling that he is deceiving you, he is like those false friends, but that you find it hard to hate for the simple fact that they show you the world as it really is, a jungle full of animals ready to attack at any moment.

🇪🇸 "A PARTIR DE ESTE MOMENTO CONOCERÁS UN POCO DE LO QUE OPINO SOBRE LA PELÍCULA, INTENTO EN CADA UNA DE MIS RESEÑAS SER LO MÁS OBJETIVO POSIBLE, PERO SIN DEJAR DE LADO LO QUE YO SIENTO Y ENTIENDO DE LA TRAMA PRINCIPAL, QUIZÁS SEA UN POCO RADICAL Y A VECES NO DOY SEGUNDAS OPORTUNIDADES, PERO SOY UN CINÉFILO INTENSO Y TENGO QUE SACARLE TODO EL JUGO A LA PELÍCULA.”

HABLEMOS DE LOS PERSONAJES

La película cuenta con varios personajes que realmente no impacta lo suficiente como para querer hablar sobre ellos y hacer de ello un punto de partida, pero creo que es necesario que conozcan unos personajes que dejarán en mí un mensaje crudo y directo, no te diré lo que podrás conseguir en reseñas o páginas de cinéfilos en Google, te contaré desde mi punto de vista un poco sobre esto personajes.

• Anthony Petrocelli interpretado por (Paul Ben Victor), es el abogado acusador quien se tomara la tarea de crear confusión y justicia a través de lo que él cree que es correcto y no. Un personaje que me llamó mucho la atención y que me recuerda aquellos que aprovechándose de su posición hacen lo que sea para llenar de basura aquellos que no se pueden defender.

La verdad es un personaje muy completo que tiene un solo objetivo y es llevar hasta al límite cada prueba para demostrar su punto, el cual es que si te señalan es porque algo debes esconder.

• Willian King interpretado por (ASAP Rocky), quien representa la calle un chico que se sabe mover por lugares que muchos no entienden y que vive bajo la ley del más fuerte, una muestra de lo que es la vida en los barrios pobres y que para muchos es la universidad de la vida.

Personaje tan orgánico que puedes caer en sus engaños, pero sin sentir que te engaña, es como esos falsos amigos, pero que te cuesta odiar por el simple hecho que te muestran el mundo tal como es en realidad, una jungla llena de animales dispuestos atacar en cualquier momento.

• Leroy Sawicki played by (Tim Blake Nelson), Steve's teacher, despite his little involvement does not show that human side and that shows that you just need to get to know a person over time to understand what they are made of.

This character is perhaps just a bridge to see that other side of things, but which to a large extent works very well, as it allows you to understand that if it shuts a person up, they will go out of their way to shout what they think no matter how others think differently.

🇪🇸 * Leroy Sawicki interpretado por (Tim Blake Nelson), el profesor de Steve, a pesar de su poca participación no muestra ese lado humano y que demuestra que solo se necesita conocer a una persona con el tiempo para entender de qué están hechas.

Este personaje quizás sea solo un puente para ver ese otro lado de las cosas, pero que a gran medida funciona muy bien, ya que te permite comprender que si calla a una persona, hará todo lo posible por gritar lo que piensa sin importar que los demás opinen diferente.

The film revolves around a single character and does not show us beyond that, but for me these characters are a reflection of the type of people that make up this world and that each one has created to defend to the hilt what they believe is right.

JUSTICE DOESN'T EXIST IN A WORLD OF ZOMBIES

Something that kept me glued to the screen was the fact that no matter how innocent or guilty you may be in any situation, only a handful of people with what I usually call; false influence is the one that will determine your future or perception of society that unfortunately when fair does not think as individuals but as a group of zombies who follow the fresh meat.

If we talk about JUSTICE, we would spend hours debating on a definition that fits or what we understand as justice and that this definition is the same that we all have before a system that has its flaws both for and against, this film touches very above that kind of context, but if you are open minded and see beyond what you have in front of you, you can understand with great ease my point.

🇪🇸 La película gira alrededor de un solo personaje y no nos muestra más allá, pero para mí estos personajes son el reflejo del tipo de personas que conforman este mundo y que cada quien ha creado para defender a capa y espada lo que cree que es correcto.

LA JUSTICIA NO EXISTE EN UN MUNDO DE ZOMBIS

Algo que me mantenía pegado a la pantalla era el hecho de que no importa lo inocente o culpable que puedas ser ante cualquier situación, solo un puñado de personas con eso que yo suelo llamar; falsa influencia es la que determinara tu futuro o percepción ante la sociedad que lamentablemente cuando se justa no piensa como individuos sino como un grupo de zombis que siguen la carne fresca.

Si hablamos de JUSTICIA, pasaríamos horas debatiendo sobre una definición que se acople o lo que nosotros entendemos como justicia y que esa definición sea la misma que tengamos todos ante un sistema que tiene sus fallos tanto a favor como en contra, esta película toca muy por encima ese tipo de contextos, pero si eres de mente a abierta y ves más allá de lo que tienes frente a ti, podrás entender con gran facilidad mi punto.

The law is for everyone no matter the color of their skin, that is the thinking of the majority, but in a world where the majority is never right and for fear of being opposed by those who have a lot of influence or power, they see the painful need to look the other way when this happens. I can freely say that within the movie you may feel this and you may be against it, but the only truth that exists is that we are prey to a third party and never to what we do in life.

"TELL ME WHO YOU HANG OUT WITH AND I WILL TELL YOU WHO YOU ARE."

This phrase is often used by people who do not believe in second chances or who judge the first time without knowing everything that surrounds the person before labeling him or her.

The film goes down that road and it is not surprising that it paints it just as today's society is used to, moments that seem to be taken from the real world and that leave you with the feeling that justice is not fair and lacks common sense. The struggle of truths will always be under the gaze of those who have already marked you as an untrustworthy person or who without knowing more about you will take the trouble to ignore your opinion no matter what you stand for.

🇪🇸 La ley es para todos no importa el color de piel, ese es el pensamiento de la mayoría, pero en un mundo donde la mayoría nunca tiene la razón y por miedo a llevar la contraria de aquellos que tiene mucha influencia o poder, se ven en la penosa necesidad de ver hacia un lado cuando esto ocurre. Puedo decir con total libertad que dentro de la película puedes sentir esto y podrás estar en contra, pero la única verdad que existe es que somos presa de un tercero y nunca de lo que hagamos en la vida.

“DIME CON QUIEN ANDAS Y TE DIRÉ QUIEN ERES”

Esta frase es muy utilizada por personas que no creen en segundas oportunidades o que juzgan a la primera sin antes conocer a profundidad todo lo que rodea a la persona antes de etiquetarla.

El filme se va por ese camino y no es de extrañar que te lo pinta tal cual la sociedad de hoy en día está acostumbrada, momentos que parecen sacados del mundo real y que te dejan la sensación de que la justicia no es equitativa y carece de sentido común. La lucha de verdades siempre estará bajo la mirada de aquellos que ya te han marcado como persona no confiable o que sin conocer más sobre ti se tomarán la molestia de ignorar tu opinión sin importar lo que tú defiendas.

These are key points to understand what is shown in the film and that opens a myriad of arguments that can be used for or against, but that only you can select and defend, not all think alike and everyone sees justice from the side that suits them best, if your neck is at stake you will do whatever it takes to get out of that problem and if it is someone else who has the noose around his neck you will only look the other way, because that is human behavior, no matter how many times you beat your chest or say the opposite, as people in a society we watch out not to be the victim of uncomfortable looks that question our values and principles.

DO I RECOMMEND IT?

If you have reached this point, you can take for granted that you have understood my point of view and that if I wanted to go further this post would become so long that I would have to make several parts to expose every point of view I have and be able to openly debate with every moviegoer about this movie.

But as I know it's boring and a bit tedious to go deeper about some points, I prefer to leave it up to here and tell you that you have to see this movie yes or yes, it's one of those that using few resources and little known actors can leave you a good taste in your mouth of those that you say; how interesting, so deep and intense, like life itself.

An hour and a half of film will be enough to understand and capture what you can live when you are on the edge of the abyss and despite knowing that you are innocent or guilty you have the small doubt that things can be different if we think differently than we are accustomed to.

🇪🇸 Estos son puntos claves para comprender lo que se muestra en la película y que abre un sinfín de argumentos que pueden ser usadas a favor o en contra, pero que solo tú puedes seleccionar y defender, no todos pensamos igual y cada quien vea la justicia desde el lado que más le convenga, si tu cuello está en juego harás lo que sea para salir de ese problema y si es otro quien tiene la soga al cuello solo verás hacia otro lado, ya que ese es el comportamiento humano, no importa cuántas veces te des golpes en el pecho o diga lo contrario, como personas dentro de una sociedad velamos por no ser víctima de miradas incómodas que pongan en tela de juicio nuestros valores y principios.

¿LA RECOMIENDO?

Si has llegado hasta este punto, puede dar por hecho que has entendido mi punto de vista y que si quisiera ir más allá este post se haría tan largo que tendría que hacer varias partes para exponer cada punto de vista que tengo y poder debatir abiertamente con cada cinéfilo sobre esta película.

Pero como sé que es aburrido y un poco tedioso profundizar sobre algunos puntos, prefiero dejarlo hasta aquí y decirte que tienes que ver esta película sí o sí, es de aquellas que usando pocos recursos y actores poco conocidos te pueden dejar un buen sabor de boca de esos que tú dices; que interesante, tan profundo e intenso, como la vida misma.

Una hora y media de película serán suficientes para entender y captar eso que se puede vivir cuando estás al filo del abismo y que a pesar de saber que eres inocente o culpable tienes la pequeña duda de que las cosas pueden ser distintas si pensamos de manera distinta a la que estamos acostumbrados.
