LA CIENCIA FICCIÓN ES UN GÉNERO COMPLICADO Y A SU VEZ FUGAZ YA QUE DEPENDE DE SU HISTORIA Y BUEN EFECTOS VISUALES PARA MANTENER AL ESPECTADOR INTERESADO DE LO CONTRARIO PUEDE QUE LO PIERDA ANTES DE LOS PRIMEROS 30 MINUTOS.
Un saludo cordial a toda la comunidad Cinéfila que hace vida en #Hive ya tenía un rato sin escribir y mucho más rato sin dejar por aquí una de mis reseñas que si te cuento no lo vas a creer o quizás no les hago falta por aquí lo que sí les puedo asegurar es que vengo con una película Venezolana digamos fuera de lo común que puede interesar al espectador común hasta cierto punto. Los latinoamericanos nos caracterizamos por ser apasionados, libres y llenos de energía eso no está a discusión, pero cuando nos referíamos a entretenimiento y no hablo de ir a la disco o tomar unos tragos al bar de la esquina. Me refiero al entretenimiento audiovisual, no solo a las novelas, serie de televisión, sino más bien a la películas y es aquí donde tenemos que hacer pausa y entender que no contamos con el presupuesto o maquinaria de producciones Norte Americanas 0o de la misma Europa aquí todo corre más lento y se trabaja con las manos y lo digo literalmente.

A cordial greeting to all the Cinephile community that makes life in #Hive I had a while without writing and much more time without leaving here one of my reviews that if I tell you you will not believe it or maybe I do not need them here what I can assure you is that I come with a film Venezuelan let's say out of the ordinary that can interest the common viewer to some extent. Latin Americans are known for being passionate, free and full of energy, that's not in dispute, but when we refer to entertainment and I'm not talking about going to the disco or having a few drinks at the corner bar. I am referring to audiovisual entertainment, not only to novels, TV series, but rather to movies and it is here where we have to pause and understand that we do not have the budget or machinery of North American or Europe productions, here everything runs slower and we work with our hands and I mean that literally.

En Venezuela hemos contado con la suerte tener Directores, guionistas, fotógrafos con gran talento y que no sea de extrañar que trabajen en grandes producciones extranjeras y vaya que tenemos a más de un venezolano dando lo mejor en el mundo y solo debemos echar un vistazo para daros cuenta de ello. Desde hace unos años hemos contado con películas como; Secuestro Express (2005), Punto y Raya (2004), Papita, Maní, Tostón (2013), Azul y no tan Rosa (2012) y aún falta una docena de películas que cuentan un poco de la historia, cultura, pasión y pasatiempo del venezolano que a través de sus películas comparten con el mundo nuestras raíces y lo que significa ser venezolano. Como puedes notar son películas que pueden conectar con cualquiera de nosotros y que cualquier parecido con la realidad es pura coincidencia. Ahora vamos más allá de lo que podríamos ver en una película venezolana y que solo veríamos en una película con el sello y estilo de Hollywood.
The Cage (la jaula) es una película del año 2017 bajo la producción y dirección de (Jose Salaverria) quien es la cabeza de Cinestesia Media y que se estrena con su primera película y dentro del género de Ciencia Ficción que para muchos es una gran sorpresa ya que no se había navegado antes por estas aguas y a pesar de no ser 100% enfocada en este género ya que toca un poco la política desde un punto de vista casi indetectable y lo digo ya que más adelante te contaré porqué pienso esto y sobre todo lo que intentaron mostrar al momento de introducir un poco la vibra de lo que conocemos como el movimiento LGTB y un par de cositas que te contaré a continuación.

¿DE QUÉ TRATA LA PELÍCULA?
¡TE LO CUENTO RÁPIDO Y SIN SPOILERS, POR SI AÚN NO LA HAS VISTO!
La Jaula una película ambientada en la época actual con una mirada post apocalíptica de un país que fue tomado por fuerzas alienígenas y que quizás no sea como antes y eso es lo más triste. Conoceremos a dos sobrevivientes Eva protagonizada por la hermosa (Karina Velásquez) y Fausto (JUVEL VIELMA) una pareja que no solo tendrá que luchar por su existencia sino que también liderar con la soledad, rutina y la poca esperanza que queda en ellos.
Veremos como esta pareja recorre la ciudad y cada pueblo en busca de comida, agua y otros seres vivos que le hagan recuperar la fe en un mundo donde lo extraño ya no es una casualidad sino más bien una realidad que jamás hubieran imaginado que tendrían que vivir. Esta fuerza alienígena se mantiene distante y celosa en sus naves espaciales como si estuvieran observando lo que ocurre en la tierra y preparados ante cualquier situación que los pueda sorprender.
Una noche se toparon con una invitada inesperada llamada Dafne (Ananda Troconis) una mujer que viajaba sin rumbo y que por azares del destino llegó a la casa de esta pareja en busca de algo de comer y un lugar donde pasar la noche. Tener en casa una tercera persona no solo revivió esa esperanza sino también la pasión en la pareja que de alguna manera despertó esa curiosidad por conocer esta misteriosa mujer y la idea de que más personas se encuentren con vida y puedan unirse con un mismo propósito: conquistar lo que han perdido.
¿Todo volverá a ser como antes? ¿La pasión que ha despertado esta misteriosa mujer dividirá a la pareja o renacerá eso que parece haber muerto?, ¿Qué pasará con los alienígenas? Si deseas conocer esto y mucho más te invito a que veas esta película y que sigas leyendo esta reseña para que conozcas mi opinión y crítica sobre el filme.
MI OPINIÓN LIBRE DE SPOILERS
No soy muy amante de las películas venezolanas y no es porque no me guste el producto con sello venezolano es que he pasado tanto tiempo alejado del cine local que vivo detrás de películas más comerciales o poco conocidas con historias profundas y nada comunes que he olvidado darme la oportunidad de disfrutar del cine venezolano. Cuando me topé con esta película tenía mis dudas sobre si la disfrutaría o sería una total pérdida de tiempo y es que el contexto de la trama me parecía sacada de una caja de cereal y que quizás sería una copia de lo que ya Hollywood nos tiene acostumbrados, pero con mucho menos presupuesto y en tierras venezolanas.
Habiendo dicho esto quiero iniciar con que la película intenta mostrar o llevarnos por tres direcciones totalmente distintas con un ritmo lento y poco diálogo entre sus personajes lo que dificultad un poco entender lo que sucede y que el espectador sea quien saque sus propias conclusiones y le ponga algo de cuerpo a la trama usando de apoyo su imaginación. Mientras observaba pasaba por mi cabeza la idea que intentaban usar la idea de los alienígenas como una metáfora o forma de transmitir un mensaje donde reflejamos lo que está pasando en Venezuela donde las calles ya no tienen vida y los mercados llenos de alimentos pero sin nadie que pueda comprar en ellos. Todo esto puede sonar un poco fuera de contexto y quizás no vaya por esa dirección, pero es algo que pude captar así como otros factores que terminan por desviar la atención del espectador y confundir en el proceso.
Que quiero decir con esto exactamente, bueno que no tiene forma ni sentido que la haga una película disfrutable o que nos deje algo más allá de un sabor agridulce de inicio a fin. Como lo mencioné hace un momento, la falta de diálogos y escenas donde el silencio era protagonista me parece una mala jugada ya que no tenemos nada con que apoyarnos y ni siquiera el ambiente es decir lo que está a la vista nos ayuda a entender la trama. Más de la mitad de la película carecía de ideas y por momentos lo único que la sacaba de ese pozo profundo eran los toques de comedia que se le suministraba en situaciones que lo merecían para darle respiro a tanto silencio.
Los efectos visuales no son de los mejores y se puede entender ya que el presupuesto es limitado y a pesar de ello se manejó de manera sutil sin sobre explotar ese recurso lo cual se agradece ya que de lo contrario se tornaría innecesario y poco productivo ya que no se enfocan al 100% en una sola cosa sino más bien en diferentes situaciones.
HABLEMOS DE LOS PERSONAJES: Todo gira alrededor de 3 personajes que le dan forma a toda la historia y cada uno tiene una entrada que nos revela la dirección o importancia de su participación lo cual sirve para guiar al espectador y no caer en ese esquema donde todo ya está escrito y se pueda tornar algo predecible al ojo crítico del espectador que no está viendo nada nuevo, pero sí lo suficientemente distinto como para no suponer más de lo debido.
El personaje de Eva (Karina Velásquez) es el de una mujer soñadora, pero que ha perdido su horizonte atrapada con un hombre que ya no la ama y un recuerdo fugaz de una familia que ya no está con ella y ese recuerdo la persigue como una pesadilla de la que no puede escapar. Durante la película podemos ver como intenta llevar cada situación con guantes blancos y analiza su entorno en busca de respuestas que le den sentido a su vida ante una situación inesperada que rebasa los límites de lo normal y se pregunta por qué sigue con vida en un mundo que ya no es controlada por sus habitantes sino por una fuerza que no entienden ni esperan entender.
Por otro lado tenemos al personaje de Fausto (JUVEL VIELMA) un hombre callado y solitario que esconde sus penas detrás de una botella de RON que está acabando con la poca esperanza que le queda y aleja cada día a la mujer que alguna vez amó con locura y que ya no volverá a sentir lo mismo. Vive cada momento como si fuera el último lo cual lo lleva por un camino sin salida donde se topa con dos realidades que nublan su inteligencia y sus ganas de vivir.
El personaje que para mí es el más importante y fue la excusa perfecta para darle un giro o podríamos decir algo de picante o sentido a la poca historia que nos presentan es el del personaje Dafne (Ananda Troconis) quien destapa las pasiones y mueve el mundo de dos personas que ya no se aman y que deseen un escape de su realidad antes de darse cuenta que ya es demasiado tarde para regresar el tiempo y lo que han vivido es una falsa ilusión.
Cada personaje cuenta con un peso importante, solo que no fueron utilizados de forma correcta y al no contar con una trama sólida se fueron por las ramas y dejaron pasar una oportunidad de oro o por lo menos es lo que pienso después de haber visto la película.
¿LA RECOMIENDO?: Si has llegado hasta este punto quizás ya tengas una idea de lo que me pareció esta película y te estarás preguntando si la debo recomendar o simplemente que la pases por un lado y no pierdas tu tiempo. Me gustaría decirte exactamente eso, pero sería un error ya que cada cabeza es un mundo y los gustos son tan variados que quizás lo que a mí no me gusta a ti te pueda encantar.
Con esto te quiero decir que le eches un vistazo es una película que logra captar tu atención hasta cierto punto antes de tomar un camino sin retorno y su mensaje aunque parezca el que te muestran en la portada puede que lo entiendas y logres darle sentido. Es como le dije a mi esposa cuando la terminamos de ver es tan mala que casi pasa por buena.
LO BUENO Y LO MALO

Un humor inesperado, pero aceptable (literalmente me reí en algunas escenas aunque no creo que esa fuera la intención).
Efectos visuales aceptables y podríamos decir que originales.
LO MALO
No posee una dirección y se pierde en el camino dejando al espectador contra la pared, esto funciona cuando la película tiene cuerpo y logra entretener al espectador sin importar lo desordenada que sea. Aquí las cosas no tienen ningún sentido y solo hay espacios vacíos difíciles de rellenar.
Demasiado larga (1 hora con 22 minutos) es mucho tiempo para una película que cuenta muy poco.

In Venezuela we have been fortunate to have *Directors, Screenwriters, Photographers with great talent and it is not surprising that they work in major foreign productions and we have more than one Venezuelan giving the best in the world and we only have to take a look to realize it. Since a few years ago we have had films like; Secuestro Express (2005), Punto y Raya (2004), Papita, Maní, Tostón (2013), Azul y no tan Rosa (2012) and there are still a dozen films that tell a little of the history, culture, passion and pastime of the Venezuelan that through their films share with the world our roots and what it means to be Venezuelan. The Cage a movie set in the present time with a post apocalyptic look at a country that was taken over by alien forces and maybe it's not like it used to be and that's the saddest part. We will meet two survivors Eva starring the beautiful (Karina Velasquez) and Fausto (JUVEL VIELMA) a couple that will not only have to fight for their existence but also lead with loneliness, routine and the little hope left in them.
We will see how this couple travels through the city and every town in search of food, water and other living beings that make them regain faith in a world where the strange is no longer a coincidence but rather a reality that they had never imagined they would have to live. This alien force remains distant and jealous in their spaceships as if they were watching what is happening on earth and prepared for any situation that might surprise them.
One night, they run into an unexpected guest named Daphne (Ananda Troconis), a woman who was traveling aimlessly and by chance arrived at the couple's house looking for something to eat and a place to spend the night. Having a third person at home not only revived that hope but also the passion in the couple that somehow awakened that curiosity to meet this mysterious woman and the idea that more people are found alive and can unite with the same purpose: to conquer what they have lost.
Will everything go back to the way it was before? Will the passion that this mysterious woman has awakened divide the couple or will that which seems to have died be reborn? MY SPOILER-FREE OPINION
I'm not much of a lover of Venezuelan films and it's not because I don't like the Venezuelan labeled product it's just that I've spent so much time away from local cinema that I live behind more commercial or little known films with deep and uncommon stories that I've forgotten to give myself the opportunity to enjoy Venezuelan cinema. When I came across this film I had my doubts as to whether I would enjoy it or if it would be a total waste of time, because the context of the plot seemed to me like something out of a cereal box and that perhaps it would be a copy of what Hollywood has us used to, but with much less budget and in Venezuelan lands.
Having said this, I want to start with the fact that the film tries to show or take us in three totally different directions with a slow pace and little dialogue between its characters, which makes it a little difficult to understand what is happening and that the viewer is the one who draws his own conclusions and puts some body to the plot using his imagination as a support. As I watched the film, the idea crossed my mind that they were trying to use the idea of the aliens as a metaphor or a way to convey a message that reflects what is happening in Venezuela where the streets are no longer alive and the markets are full of food but with no one to buy from them. All of this may sound a little out of context and maybe not going in that direction, but it is something that I was able to capture as well as other factors that end up diverting the viewer's attention and confusing in the process.
What exactly do I mean by this, well it has no way or meaning that makes it an enjoyable film or leaves us with anything beyond a bittersweet taste from start to finish. As I mentioned a moment ago, the lack of dialogue and scenes where silence was the protagonist seems to me a bad move since we have nothing to rely on and not even the environment that is to say what is in sight helps us to understand the plot. More than half of the film lacked ideas and at times the only thing that pulled it out of that deep well were the touches of comedy that were provided in situations that deserved it to give respite to so much silence.
The visual effects are not the best and it is understandable since the budget is limited and despite this it was handled in a subtle way without overexploiting this resource which is appreciated because otherwise it would become unnecessary and unproductive as it does not focus 100% on one thing but rather in different situations.
LET'S TALK ABOUT THE CHARACTERS: Everything revolves around 3 characters that shape the whole story and each one has an entry that reveals the direction or importance of their participation which serves to guide the viewer and not fall into that scheme where everything is already written and can become somewhat predictable to the critical eye of the viewer who is not seeing anything new, but different enough not to assume more than it should.
The character of Eva (Karina Velásquez) is that of a dreamer woman, but who has lost her horizon trapped with a man who no longer loves her and a fleeting memory of a family that is no longer with her and that memory haunts her like a nightmare from which she cannot escape. During the film we can see how she tries to handle every situation with white gloves and analyzes her surroundings in search of answers that give meaning to her life in the face of an unexpected situation that exceeds the limits of normality and wonders why she is still alive in a world that is no longer controlled by its inhabitants but by a force that they do not understand and do not expect to understand.
On the other hand we have the character of Fausto (JUVEL VIELMA) a quiet and lonely man who hides his sorrows behind a bottle of RON that is destroying the little hope he has left and is pushing away every day the woman he once loved with madness and who will never feel the same again. He lives every moment as if it were his last, which leads him down a dead end road where he encounters two realities that cloud his intelligence and his will to live.
The character that for me is the most important and was the perfect excuse to give a twist or we could say some spice or sense to the little story that we are presented is that of the character Daphne (Ananda Troconis) who uncovers the passions and moves the world of two people who no longer love each other and want an escape from their reality before realizing that it is too late to turn back time and what they have lived is a false illusion.
Each character has an important weight, they just weren't used in the right way and not having a solid plot they went off the deep end and missed a golden opportunity or at least that's what I think after watching the movie.
**If you've gotten this far you may already have an idea of what I thought of this movie and you're wondering if I should recommend it or just pass it by and don't waste your time. I would like to tell you exactly that, but it would be a mistake since every head is a world and tastes are so varied that maybe what I don't like you might love.
By this I mean take a look at it, it's a movie that manages to capture your attention up to a certain point before taking a path of no return and its message even if it looks like the one they show you on the cover you might understand it and make sense of it. It's like I told my wife when we finished watching it, it's so bad it almost passes for good.

Too long (1 hour and 22 minutes) is a long time for a movie that tells very little.
