Greetings to all the Hivers of this community of movies and tv shows. This time I bring you a review of a comedy and science fiction movie that I hope you can enjoy.
Quien diría que una invasión alienígena no solo sería una amenaza para el mundo sino también daría a luz a una de las películas más extrañas y divertidas en cuanto a género de ciencia ficción y comedia se refiere. “Mars attacks” (Marcianos al ataque) es un film totalmente único en cuanto a la historia y los parámetros de un tema que siempre ha dado para más y más películas como lo es el de la vida en otro planeta y la inminente batalla entre los seres humanos y los extraterrestres.
El conocido director Tim Burton trae a la pantalla grande un material basado en una serie de los años sesenta, con un guion y un tema que si bien gira sobre algo muy familiar para los espectadores, no deja de sorprendernos con su peculiar desarrollo en su trama principal. A mi parecer, esta es una película que se sale del patrón de las demás y por eso es que hasta hoy se mantiene como una buena opción para los que deseamos combinar ficción con algo de buen humor.
Who would have thought that an alien invasion would not only be a threat to the world but would also give birth to one of the strangest and funniest films in the science fiction and comedy genre. "Mars attacks" (Martians on the attack) is a totally unique film in terms of the story and the parameters of a theme that has always given for more and more movies as it is that of life on another planet and the imminent battle between humans and aliens.
The well-known director Tim Burton brings to the big screen a material based on a series of the sixties, with a script and a theme that although it revolves around something very familiar to viewers, it does not cease to surprise us with its peculiar development in its main plot. In my opinion, this is a film that is out of the pattern of the others and that is why to this day it remains a good option for those who want to combine fiction with some good humor.
El escenario y las imágenes que rodean a esta película parecen ser sacadas de una serie animada y vaya que lo es, y aunque para muchos ese estilo parece algo ordinario, encaja perfectamente con la historia y los personajes. Quizás el sujetar esta película a una serie de más de treinta años para cuando se filmó, pudo haber influido en el hecho de mantener ciertos aspectos de la versión original.
Y si hablamos de un tema principal de la película podemos solo mencionar que se trata de una batalla entre los humanos y los extraterrestres. Fuera de eso, no hay una línea argumental que se base en un personaje específico, pues a decir verdad hasta por momentos la película se halla saturada con la cantidad de buenos actores que se encuentran aquí.
The scenery and imagery surrounding this film looks like something out of an animated series and indeed it is, and although to many that style seems a bit ordinary, it fits the story and the characters perfectly. Perhaps attaching this film to a series that was over thirty years old by the time it was filmed may have influenced the fact that certain aspects of the original version were kept.
And if we talk about a main theme of the movie we can only mention that it is about a battle between humans and aliens. Other than that, there is no plot line that is based on a specific character, because to tell the truth even at times the film is saturated with the number of good actors that are here.
Pierce Brosnan, Glenn Close, Annette Bening, Jack Black, Natalie Portman, Sara Jessica Parker, Michael J. Fox, Danny DeVito, componen la artillería pesada de este gran elenco que se reúne para enfrentar la amenaza más temida por el hombre. Incluso hasta el mismo Jack Nicholson se da el lujo de interpretar dos personajes, uno en rol principal y otro no tanto, a fin de contrarrestar la inminente invasión extraterrestre. Aunque en rasgos generales, pienso que más que enfrentar a los marcianos lo que hará es tratar de huir a toda costa.
A pesar de contar con semejante grupo de actores, el guion general de la película nos deja ver que el foco principal no va hacia alguno de ellos. De hecho, los personajes casi ni interactúan de manera conjunta y más bien se desarrolla como historias aisladas unas de las otras, y esto más que extraño es muy lógico por lo que realmente se quería destacar con esta película.

Fox, Danny DeVito, make up the heavy artillery of this great cast that comes together to face the threat most feared by man. Even Jack Nicholson himself has the luxury of playing two characters, one in the lead role and the other not so much, in order to counteract the imminent alien invasion. Although in general terms, I think that more than facing the Martians what he will do is try to flee at all costs.
Despite having such a great group of actors, the general script of the film lets us see that the main focus is not on any of them. In fact, the characters almost do not interact together and rather develop as stories isolated from each other, and this more than strange is very logical for what really wanted to highlight with this film.
Precisamente sobre el guion, por momentos parece haberse quedado corto con varios personajes y muchos parecen ser colocados simplemente para que los marcianos los maten. Incluso en el caso de los marcianos, pienso que nunca hubo un dialecto tan raro como confuso, y con su “Ack Ack Ack” de principio a fin arman el caos para toda la humanidad. En mi opinión creo que faltó algo de creatividad con respecto a esto aunque debo admitir que no queda tan mal y hasta le agrega ese grado de comedia a la participación de estos extraños seres.
Entender cuál es y ha sido siempre el norte de esta historia nos permite saber mucho sobre la trama en sí. La película se llama “Mars attacks” no por mero gusto o preferencia sino que toda la película en general resalta es el ataque de los marcianos, dándole un enfoque totalmente diferente a lo que ya conocemos sobre este tipo de películas donde se centra más la atención en lo que puedan hacer los seres humanos y no en lo que hacen los enemigos.
Precisely about the script, at times it seems to have fallen short with several characters and many seem to be placed simply for the Martians to kill them. Even in the case of the Martians, I think there was never a dialect as weird as confusing, and with their "Ack Ack Ack" from beginning to end they create chaos for all mankind. In my opinion I think it lacked some creativity with respect to this although I must admit that it is not so bad and even adds that degree of comedy to the participation of these strange beings.
Understanding what is and has always been the north of this story allows us to know a lot about the plot itself. The film is called "Mars attacks" not by mere taste or preference but the whole film in general highlights the attack of the Martians, giving it a totally different approach to what we already know about this type of films where the focus is more on what humans can do and not on what the enemies do.
¿Recuerdas haber visto alguna película de este género donde los enemigos son prácticamente indestructibles? Pues disfrutarás ver lo que esta batalla revela desde ese punto de vista. Sencillamente el orgullo patriótico y los héroes serán nada ante este grupo de hombrecitos extraños que desean aniquilar a la humanidad. ¿Lo lograrán?
La primera vez que vi esta película mi reacción fue algo apática porque no creía que entre algo de comedia y ciencia ficción pudiera salir algo como esto. Siempre llama mi atención esa clase de películas que tratan de mostrar algo diferente y de forma única, y más si se trata de un tema en el que encontrarás muchísimas películas de este tema pero casi todas, en su mayoría, con el mismo final. “Mars attacks” es una película hecha para colocar en primer plano a los enemigos, no a la raza humana, mostrando que el poder y la ingenuidad no escapan de cualquier raza.
Do you remember seeing a movie in this genre where the enemies are virtually indestructible? Well, you'll enjoy seeing what this battle reveals from that point of view. Simply patriotic pride and heroes will come to nothing in the face of this group of strange little men who wish to annihilate mankind. Will they succeed?
The first time I saw this movie my reaction was somewhat apathetic because I didn't believe that between some comedy and science fiction something like this could come out. It always catches my attention that kind of movies that try to show something different and in a unique way, and even more if it is about a subject in which you will find many, many movies of this subject but almost all of them, for the most part, with the same ending. "Mars attacks" is a movie made to place in the foreground the enemies, not the human race, showing that power and ingenuity do not escape any race.
Otra de las cosas que me gusta de la película es que hayan integrado una banda sonora. Le da ese toque especial que encaja perfectamente con lo que estás viendo, sobre todo cuando se trata de la intervención de los marcianos y las escenas de ataque. La coordinación entre la música y las escenas es muy buena.
Muchas personas durante años han tratado de buscarle cierto significado político, social o ideológico a esta historia, pero en mi opinión esta película solo trata de abordar un tema desde el otro lado del espejo, remarcando la guerra de los humanos y los extraterrestres desde el bando de los enemigos, y con ese toque de comedia han logrado sacar una película especial dentro de su género. Más que analizar, es una película para sentarse a verla y disfrutar.
Another thing I like about the movie is that they integrated a soundtrack. It gives it that special touch that fits perfectly with what you are watching, especially when it comes to the intervention of the Martians and the attack scenes. The coordination between the music and the scenes is very good.
Many people over the years have tried to find some political, social or ideological meaning to this story, but in my opinion this film only tries to address an issue from the other side of the mirror, remarking the war of humans and aliens from the side of the enemies, and with that touch of comedy they have managed to get a special film within its genre. More than analyzing, it is a movie to sit down and enjoy.
“Mars attacks” trata más de los marcianos que de los humanos mismos. Así de simple se capta la idea de una historia como esta, que se plantea como una buena opción a la hora de combinar la tensión de una posible invasión con el más ingenuo y divertido de todos los finales. Sin duda, es una película que hasta con lupa podrás encontrar ciertos mensajes de reflexión a la sociedad en general. Si aún no has visto este interesante film y necesitas prepararte ante una futura amenaza alienígena, la mejor y más divertida opción la encontrarás a través de “Mars Attacks”. Creo que entre muchas cosas, una de las que más te dirá esta película es:
“Nunca subestimes a un marciano”.
"Mars attacks" is more about the Martians than the humans themselves. That's how simple it is to grasp the idea of a story like this, which is a good option when it comes to combining the tension of a possible invasion with the most naïve and funniest of all endings. Undoubtedly, it is a film that even with a magnifying glass you will be able to find certain messages of reflection to society in general. If you have not yet seen this interesting film and you need to prepare yourself for a future alien threat, the best and funniest option is "Mars Attacks". I think that among many things, one of the things this movie will tell you the most is:
"Never underestimate a Martian".
