Intro
Fate, love, and "One Night Stand" seem to be complicated to be intertwined in just a day between two unknown people that were fated to meet in the most unlikely of places, aboard a train. Fate must make them meet and then an unlikely "one-night stand" is not what you think it would be and then what's next? Love? "Mood of the Day" meshed all of them together in an exciting way.
Narrative
The narrative of the film is all about the unexpected experience of Soo-jung (Moon Chae-won) with Jae-hyun (Yoo Yeon-seok) whom she met on her way to Busan on a train. Fate must have made their paths cross together in this very charming and very light movie with lots of unexpected events in between.
Thoughts
I was drawn to watching this movie because Yoo Yeon-seok (see image below) is handsome and he has a perfect co-star with Moon Chae-won. Based on their looks they are perfect as a couple. Two beautiful person that is very professionally looking and has the wits to tackle any challenges that life throws at them.
The background music of the movie is happy and bubbly but then I slowly realized that the rendition is from a famous song made by a very popular foreign singer. The rendition is nice as it uses other instruments.
It was established right away that Jae-hyun (Yoo Yeon-seok) is a womanizer and seems that he is not able to remember the exact names of all the women that he slept with and it didn't take long before he started his move to convince Soo-jung (Moon Chae-won) (see image below) have a one-night stand with him.
The reaction of Soo-jung (Moon Chae-won) when asked if she is going to have a one-night stand is very professional and it makes me giggle instead of getting angry at the man asking her for a one-night stand.
The scene where Soo-jung (Moon Chae-won) is hit by a basketball (see image below) behind her head surprises me, it was funny, who would have thought that she would be hit by a basketball? She was embarrassed so she didn't bother looking back, instead, she continued walking on her way to her office.
The scene of the friend Jae-hyun (Yoo Yeon-seok) looking for him made me think that I was up to some funny scene along the way (see image below).
Their first scene together on the train is when Jae-hyun (Yoo Yeon-seok) tells Soo-jung (Moon Chae-won) that it was fate that made them meet to the amusement of Soo-jung (Moon Chae-won). I found this scene a little bit funny but also exciting as she said that it was only a coincidence (see image below).
The scene in the restaurant is brilliant, Jae-hyun (Yoo Yeon-seok) tells Soo-jung (Moon Chae-won) that the restaurant is to die for, and she goes there and finds out that the food is really amazing. But then Jae-hyun (Yoo Yeon-seok) went also there to her surprise.
One of the funny scenes came when Jae-hyun (Yoo Yeon-seok) said that he had already given up on convincing her to sleep to which she unknowingly replied "But why?". It was a funny moment because she shouldn't have said it, saying it would make her look like she was not entirely rejecting the idea of sleeping with him.
Their scene when they are after Jin Chul is brilliant it could be one of the most unique plots to build an entire movie and make it look like it just happened within one day. I think this is the first time that I have seen a movie's plot centered on finding a basketball and unbeknownst to them they will have an emotional attachment with each other.
Another funny scene is when Jae-hyun (Yoo Yeon-seok) runs away after taking a show while Soo-jung (Moon Chae-won) is trailing him. It must have been a very embarrassing moment if it would happen to a person in real life. Imagine, you just took a bath then a lot of women saw wearing only a towel strapped on your waist.
One of the cheesiest scenes of the movie is when they fall while dunking the ball on top of a mattress (see image below). Their scenes on the basketball court are unique because I have never seen such a scene in some of the movies that I watched.
One of the saddest scenes in the movie is when they finally bid goodbye to each other after a day and a night together which perfectly shows that parting ways with a person with whom we have some emotional attachment is so hard to say goodbye. That is exactly what happened to them. Both of them are sad because they will be parting ways after all that has happened to them (see image below).
When the movie was nearing its climax I giggled when it was finally revealed what was written on the note that he intentionally gave for her the note content is as follows "I wish I could make that day our everyday"
The most suspenseful scene of the movie is when she reads about the note and she goes after him to tell him that what she said in the cafe was all lies.
Conclusion
This movie is a very nice movie. It shows how a day and a night spent with a complete stranger can be as memorable as this one. The background music is amazing because of the clever rendition of the music. The attire is very nice too. If you are into K-movies this one is definitely for you as it can make you giggle and fall in love and sad at the same time. I great editing makes this movie very likable aside from Soo-Jung (Moon Chae-won) and Ae-hyun (Yoo Yeon-seok) who are both beautiful people. I do recommend this movie because it is very light, and it also has a great story and screenplay.
