Hey guys, hope you all are having a good time. Well, I wasn't until I got myself a new movie and decided to enjoy every moment and as always I'll be bringing another animation movie into your doorstep (you know how much I love animation movies).
Remember that toy that Andy used to like so much in Toy Story? Hey, if you havn't seen toy story I strongly advice that you do or do not because this story actually is a back-dated tale of Buzz and a spin off of the toy story, so you decide. I guess Buzz hadn't always been kidding when he kept telling other toys that he was a space ranger.
The spin off actually reveals that the Human Buzz Lightyear who's an astronaut was actually a movie seen by Andy and people of the Toy Story universe and they loved him so much that they decided to make a toy of him, well, that's pretty nice. It is a great twist to the toy story franchise and it surely was something fun.
I was even surprised to find out that the voice of Buzz was played by Chris Evans (Captain America) and even though it was controversial to change voices, I believe it was wise because the one in toy story actually belonged to a toy so it wouldn't have been exactly the same. They also introduced the voice of Keke Palmer as Izzy Hawthorne, a great addition for me, her voice actually lit up the movie, also did the voices of Peter Sohn, Taika Waititi, Dale Soules, James Brolin, Uzo Aduba.
Walt Disney and pixar didn't disappoint as the graphics was on point, I even ended up realizing that the spot on Buzz's chin wasn't always a spot or a rash, it's actually a dimple (well it looked like one). The movie was released on June 17, 2022 in the United States and was co-written and directed by Angus MacLane.
About
Some light-years away, Buzz and his group of space rangers were on a mission but along the way their space vessel notices a life form in a planet that seemed habitable. Buzz awakes first and immediately directs the vessel to the planet for a reconnaissance survey.
He leaves the vessel with so much vigour, he's surely a man who loves what he does. But he notices that there's something odd about this planet, with enough caution he checks out everything around him and gets scared to find out that he's not alone, there's someone following him. But he soon realizes that it's his captain and best friend Aisha Hawthorne and with her came a rookie and buzz hates rookies.
They soon discover that this planet wasn't exactly what they were expecting and they didn't get quite the welcome they were seeking. They get ambushed by hostile lifeforms which forces them to retreat in their space craft. But all didn't go as planned and Buzz damages the ship leaving them stranded in an inhabitable planet. What follows is years and years of trying to perfect the last key to repairing the space vessel and it a lot longer than expected and he gets a companion.
He comes back after a successful trial to find out that a villian had joined the party and he's non other than Zurg who's out to make life miserable for everyone.
Will buzz be able to defeat this mysterious Zurg and get everyone back home safely?, Well you'll just have to watch it to find out.
My take on the movie
I must say the animation is really on point, like it felt real, the way their mouths actually depicted what they were saying was great to see and I must say that they did a pretty good job about it. As for the cast, I think the voices of Aisha and Keke are delectable and they pretty much added life to the characters, as for buzz Chris evans didn't do bad himself, I think all of them just blended in really well.
As for the story, I wouldn't say it is the best of stories because they made me question some of the things we were told in toy story (like Zurg being Buzz's father) but then it was a beautiful story and I liked that they didn't just tell the story of Buzz alone, they added life into it infusing other people into it. It can actually act as a sort of motivation, don't you ever give up untill you finish your duty, no matter what it takes, and you don't always have to work alone, there's nothing wrong with trusting others to do the work for you.
The addition of Sox actually there to show the love between man and pet, they're always there no matter what. Humans can always fail you but your pet is always there to look out for you in the hardest of situations and that was depicted really good.
The movie shows a lot of love even though disney tried to force homosexualism in our faces, I still can't dispute the fact that it's a good movie. You should surely see this one if you're an animation lover and ps: watch till the post credit scene, there's something there, hehehe. I'll give this one a 7 out of ten for sure.
