Hi fellow TV Fans,
Today I wanted to share one of my guilty pleasures for TV watching: Homestead Rescue!
Guilty Pleasure: Homestead Rescue
One of the things I don't do a whole lot of is watching TV for various reasons. Especially being here on Hive, I would rather spend some time commenting or something, to have some increased engagement or potential rewards coming in. Occasionally though I will spend some time watching what I think is an awesome show!
I am completely supportive of things that help us learn something. One thing I almost always do when watching Homestead Rescue is learn something! I know that especially with the past year or two people are really trying to get the hell out of Dodge and get onto homesteading. This has been an interest of mine if we could swing it but I don't know how it will go politically with my wife hahaha so in the meantime, I will just watch the show and learn what I can! The dad, Marty, has some really ingenious ways of figuring out and fixing situations that I think is amazing and a remarkable trait to have! I have definitely learned many things from him and will continue to learn them in the future. I would love to get some skills and exposure to chainsaws like he has!
The other reason I enjoy the show is our son is naturally attracted to outdoors stuff and is always looking to explore that aspect of life. I want to instill in him as early as I can that we are able to do things for ourselves, both in our own life as well as some of the shows that we've watched. I don't let him watch the horse shit cartoons for the most part, besides some decent ones on Disney but otherwise we keep to good programming like this.
What I really enjoy about the show is that they present real-life challenges that people are having when they are trying to get away from the shit of the world and creating their own homestead. I've taken some of the things I've learned from the show and seriously applied them in real life!
I was helping a friend move into his house a few years ago and one of the things that happened is the moving van got stuck in the snow/mud combo that occurred. Having watched this awesome show, I learned that you need to stick something firm under the tire like a piece of wood or something flat and gives the tire some grip. We ended up using a brick from his pavers that led to his house and boom! The moving van was able to get out of the rut it made.
There are things in life that happen to me and one of them is that when I come to enjoy something, it gets cancelled or removed hahaha. My favorite foods and sauces and stuff get cancelled once I get hooked on something. I'm seriously hoping that this show doesn't get cancelled! It's definitely one of my favorite things to watch on TV, which isn't very often.
