I am a fan of rare cinema, of foreign films, black and white, old, far-fetched, those montages that are challenging to understand, those dramatic stories in which there are only two characters for almost two hours and of which one is silent... things like that. I'm kidding with myself, but what I mean is that I like different and complicated movies. However, from time to time I also like to enjoy lighter stories.

Me estoy tomando el pelo, pero lo que quiero decir es que me gustan las películas diferentes y complicadas. Sin embargo, de vez en cuando me gusta también disfrutar de historias más ligeras.

Crazy, Stupid, Love is a 2011 film directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, written by Dan Fogelman and featuring a great cast: Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Julianne Moore, Emma Stone, Marisa Tomei and Kevin Bacon. Although all the characters have their own stories and are an important part of the script, the protagonist is Cal Weaver (Steve Carell), a 40-year-old who seems to have everything the average man would dream of, a good job, a nice house, some great children, married to his teenage girlfriend, until, in the opening scene of the movie, his wife Emily tells him, without any anesthesia, that she wants the divorce. The punch is devastating for Cal, for his children, for Emily herself, and it fosters the events that will connect the characters in one way or another.

Crazy, Stupid, Love es una película del año 2011 dirigida por Glenn Ficarra y John Requa, escrita por Dan Fogelman y que cuenta con un gran elenco: Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Julianne Moore, Emma Stone, Marisa Tomei y Kevin Bacon. Aunque todos los personajes tienen sus propias historias y forman parte importante del guión, el protagonista es Cal Weaver (Steve Carell), un cuarentón que parece tener todo lo que el hombre promedio soñaría, un buen trabajo, una bonita casa, unos hijos estupendos, casado con su novia de la adolescencia, hasta que, en la escena inicial de la peícula, su esposa Emily le dice, sin ningún tipo de anestesia, que quiere el divorcio. We have Jacob (Gosling), the typical heartthrob who is successful with women; Hannah (Stone), future lawyer who aspires more for her than the mediocrity to which her partner seems to want to lead her; Emily (Moore), who unleashes her marriage and family crisis because she feels that at some point along the way, she and her husband lost themselves; Robbie, the Weaver's teenage son, in love with his babysitter Jessica; and of course we have David Lindhagen (Bacon), one of the most remembered names in cinema, around which my favorite scene of the entire film revolves.

We're not talking about a cinematic gem, not all movies have to be. It's a light, funny story that mixes with humor the different approaches to love and relationships. Because it must be said, although it has a lot of laughs, the film is also very romantic and allows us to approach the idea of ​​love from different perspectives. Crazy, Stupid, Love is full of clichés: being sad in the rain, the relationship bad boy-good girl, tangles and confusion, references to other movies, these are not new tricks, but I feel like they are combined in ways that work. I don't usually watch many comedies, I'm not a fan of Ben Stiller, or Adam Sandler, or other names that have devoted themselves almost exclusively to the genre because I don't like the way they work the absurd. However, I've found myself laughing and smiling every time I've seen this movie.

No estamos habando de una joya cinematográfica, no todas las películas tienen que serlo. Se trata de una historia ligera, graciosa que mezcla con humor los distintos enfoques del amor y las relaciones de pareja. Porque hay que decirlo, aunque tiene muchas risas la película es también muy romántica y permite aproximarse hacia la idea del amor desde distintas perspectivas. Crazy, Stupid, Love está repleta de clichés: estar triste bajo la lluvia, la relación chico-malo-chica-buena, enredos y confusiones, referencias a otras películas, no son trucos nuevos, pero siento que están combinados de manera que funcionan. No suelo ver muchas comedias, no soy admirador de Ben Stiller, o Adam Sandler, ni de otros nombres que se han dedicado casi en exclusiva al género porque no me gusta la forma en que trabajan el absurdo. Sin embargo, me he encontrado riendo y sonriendo cada vez que he visto esta película.

If you don't know this story, whether you like the genre or not, I recommend it for when you want to see something light, pleasant, a story in which you don't have to break your head understanding codes, scenes or images. And if you see her in the company of someone special, much better.

Si no conocen esta historia, ya sea que les guste el género, o no, se las recomiendo para cuando quieran ver algo ligero, agradable, una historia en la que no tengan que romperse la cabeza entendiendo códigos, escenas o imágenes. Y si la ven en compañía de alguien especial, mucho mejor.
