Pay to stream
For the first time in my life I am paying for a monthly streaming service. Up until now I have been lucky enough to always borrow someone else’s account for services such as Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, Disney Plus, etc. A few days ago I made the decision to pay $15/month for HBO Max.
Why you ask?
My answer: Godzilla vs. Kong in 4K

An ancient rivalry
The cinematic Monsterverse pits two of the greatest icons in motion picture history against one another. A battle between the fearsome Godzilla and the mighty King Kong. There can only be one apex and humanity is caught right in the middle of the struggle for power.
The film is the fourth installment of the MonsterVerse. It takes place five years after Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) and 51 years after Kong: Skull Island (2017), which took place in 1973.
Kong and Godzilla are the centerpieces to this plot, but there is also some good acting by actual humans. The lead role is filled by Alexander Skarsgård as Nathan Lind. My favorite performance was Brian Tyree Henry as Bernie Hayes.
Stunning in 4K
This will be the first film in 59 years to feature both King Kong and Godzilla, after King Kong vs. Godzilla (1962). Just look at the stark difference between the original film and the one that just released. Godzilla doesn't look terrible in his older form, but King Kong was downright laughable back in the day.
This new film is available to stream in 4K on HBO Max. Let me just say that this movie is absolutely gorgeous. The effects look amazing in 4K and I highly recommend that you watch it in its highest quality. In fact, seeing this movie in 4K was the only reason I even payed for HBO Max. I could have very easily just watched this movie in 1080p for free on Flixtor.to.
Two kaiju duke it out
Godzilla and Kong both have been saviors of humanity in the past, but they do not seem to want to let one another exist at the same time. The fight sequences between these two giants are extremely intense. The battles are set in unique locales and keep you on edge the entire time. I couldn't help but become attached to Kong, since he he so human-like. I could almost feel his pain each time he was attacked. 
There are some special appearances that increase the action's voltage quite a bit. Kong is forced to use every weapon to his advantage in order to stand a chance versus the near invincible Godzilla and everything else that the world keeps throwing at him.
Hollow Earth
By far my most anticipated thing about this movie was its focus on the origins of Kong and Godzilla. This story dives deep into that idea and it is an absolute treat for anybody who is intrigued by the Hollow Earth theory.
There has been many other movies that have taken viewers on a journey to the middle of Earth. Still yet, Godzilla vs. Kong manages to showcase new ideas on how a hollow earth may exist. If you are in tune with the idea that Antarctica is one of the entry ways to our hollow earth, then you're sure to be eager to watch this film since it does support that idea.
This movie shows how things could work when traveling from the surface where we live now, to our hollow earth. The inner earth is shown in such a vivid way that just makes sense. It's just so damn satisfying, you have to see it to get a full understanding of what I am talking about. I certainly do not want to spoil a thing about this movie for you.
Watch on HBO Max until April 30th
This movie is currently in theaters, but is also available to stream in 4K on HBO Max. It will remain on HBO Max until 4/30/21. Be sure to watch it while you have the chance, I am telling you now that it is for sure worth your time. The total run time is just under two hours and the sequences in this film are truly worthwhile. I can honestly say that this was one of my favorite movies that I have seen in a long time.
