You know what it is 🦈

You could probably guess the basics of the plot of this movie without me even telling you. We have seen it many times before. People get stuck out in the middle of the ocean and sharks torment them. It is an old formula, yet here I am still watching shark movies in 2022.

Getting into the ocean at the beach comes with the real risk of a shark attack. Sure it is not as likely to happen as most people imagine, but the chances are above 0% and that is enough to create true fear. My love for the ocean and the slim chances of being eaten alive by a shark the next time I am diving into some waves both increase my desire to continue watching shark films.

Jaws, Deep Blue Sea, the list goes on and on. One of the latest shark films to hit streaming apps is called Great White. In this one, Kaz and Charlie run a hardly profitable seaplane business. Charlie is a retired marine biologist, pilot, and shark-bite survivor. Kaz is Charlie's pregnant wife, but she is far from useless out on the water. Together with their Hawaiian friend Benny, they offer visitors the opportunity to get a more unique look at the local area.

When the wealthy couple consisting of Michelle and Joji call to set up a private charter, Kaz and Charlie are quick to get things going. They are desperate for some money and eager to take their plane and the visiting couple to Hell's Reef.

Things go south when they discover a dead body and they begin searching for survivors. They find a boat and land the plane to get a closer look, but that is when the apex predator Great White shark begins to terrorize the five unlucky humans. The airplane is quickly destroyed and they are all left on a raft floating many miles away from land.

The rest of the story is something you have to watch, otherwise, it will probably just seem like every other shark movie. This film doesn't really introduce anything new to this suspenseful genre, but if you like shark movies you will probably like Great White.

I cannot urge you to rush and watch this movie, but I can at least confirm that it is not totally terrible. The acting is not the best, but it is far from the worst. Put yourself in the shoes of these people and you will soon realize that what they are forced to endure is nightmarish.
