The Mandalorian is certainly the biggest series to be released in December and since I enjoyed the first season last year it was obvious I was also going to watch the new season this year. I am not the biggest Star Wars fan but I do like this universe for the most part.
If you don't know anything about The Mandalorian, it is a story where one member of that reputable group of people (The Mandalorians) is tasked to find and deliver a special child to one client but since everything seemed suspicious he decides to keep the child to himself which causes tons of problems. Eventually, a decision is taken to deliver the child to people that are similar to him. As you probably know, the child is actually a baby of the same race as Yoda.
The first season ends with the new task to deliver the child to his own kind, and this new mission is the one we see in season 2. The series plays like a videogame because almost every scene has The Mandalorian in it, and in each episode, he will face new challenges which can sometimes be monsters or simply rival groups but he always finds a way to defeat them all. These Mandalorian fellows are very resourceful and skillful so they always have one way to solve any type of problem.
One thing I didn't like is that everything in this series seems so simple, no matter the challenge the Mandalorian always comes up victorious and the story is far from complex. The Troopers are more useless than ever before, they are incredibly weak and their aim when using guns is terrible. Hard to believe they are the soldiers of an all-powerful empire. In the final episodes, we will see how this lack of competitiveness is solved by the new bad guy but this threat doesn't last much.
I did enjoy the new enemies and monsters and the constant action scenes. There are also good moments with the child which is surely expected by most viewers. In the final episode, there is a good surprise that felt like fan service, but this opens a whole world of possibilities for new potential stories to tell. Season 3 of The Mandalorian will be very different than the first 2 seasons, that's for sure.
It is obvious that this series is a must-watch for any fans of Star Wars but I think it can also be enjoyed by people who aren't very familiar with the movies. It is a cool spin-off and it has several good moments of action and comedy. Most people will surely enjoy it.
