Tengo un problema visual con las películas en tonos oscuros o amarillos, sin embargo "La Mujer Rey", llamó mi atención. Primero me atrapó la historia, quería saber el secreto de la General Nanisca (Viola Davis), en un pueblo de África diferente, donde las mujeres eran valiosas guerreras y tratadas con respeto por el Rey. Otro motivo para ver esta película es que habla sobre los tiempos de esclavitud, algo que no apoyo, pero me gusta ver este tipo de películas donde hay liberaciones o revelación de esclavos.
Las costumbres en algunos países son fuertes, más aún en África, donde a las jovencitas las casan con el mejor postor, independientemente de si es joven, viejo, feo o maltratados. Esa vida era la que le esperaba a Nawi, interpretada por Thuso Mbedu, quien a pesar de su belleza y juventud no buscaba un esposo, se reveló ante su padre y se negaba a casarse, así que este como un supuesto castigo la lleva a lo que sería su tan deseado destino, ser una recluta de las mujeres guerreras del Rey, donde deberá entrenar duro y dejar sus deseos a un lado, para así lograr su objetivo.

I have a visual problem with movies in dark or yellow tones, however "The Woman King", caught my attention. First I was caught by the story, I wanted to know the secret of General Nanisca (Viola Davis), in a different African village, where women were valuable warriors and treated with respect by the King. Another reason to see this movie is that it talks about the times of slavery, something I don't support, but I like to see this kind of movies where there are liberations or revelation of slaves.
The customs in some countries are strong, even more so in Africa, where young girls are married off to the highest bidder, regardless of whether he is young, old, ugly or abused. That life was what awaited Nawi, played by Thuso Mbedu, who despite her beauty and youth was not looking for a husband, she revealed herself to her father and refused to marry, so as a supposed punishment he takes her to what would be her so desired destiny, to be a recruit for the King's women warriors, where she must train hard and leave her desires aside, in order to achieve her goal.
Esta película dice que se basa en hechos reales, en las épocas donde los Europeos buscaban conquistar tofo África. El abuso de poder, la esclavitud, la guerra y aquellos que sobre pasan la línea del honor, se verán a flor de piel en esta película. Pero me quedo con el respeto a la mujer por parte de un Rey que quiere ser distinto, que quiere y se preocupa por su pueblo y se debate entre hacer lo correcto o parecer bueno cuando realmente no lo es.

This movie claims to be based on real events, in the times when Europeans sought to conquer all of Africa. The abuse of power, slavery, war and those who cross the line of honor, will be on full display in this film. But I am left with the respect for women by a King who wants to be different, who wants and cares for his people and is torn between doing the right thing or looking good when he really is not.
Las victorias de Nanisca y las cicatrices en su piel, hicieron que ganará el respeto del Rey y su voz fuera escuchada, incluso por encima de la mujer del Rey. Se ganó el respeto de las tropas de guerreras y su admiración, al punto de que todas seguían su reglas, menos la rebelde Nawi, quien tuvo algunos conflictos al inicio de la trama. Nanisca guarda un pasado doloroso, pero logrará vengar su honor.
El personaje que más me gustó fue el que interpretó la carismática Lashana Lynch, llamada Izogie. Su empatía, sus ganas de que Nawi pudiera ver que realmente tenía potencial, fueron puntos claves. Me reí mucho con su personaje, pues colocaba caras graciosas y tenía un sentido del humor algo sarcástico con la pequeña Nawi, que la hacía único. Al final podremos ver que ser guerreras no impide el hecho de ser amigas y aunque Izogie le decía a Nawi que en la guerra no debías ayudar al otro, si no avanzar, le demostró que más que guerreras, eran hermanas de lucha.

Nanisca's victories and the scars on her skin earned her the respect of the King and her voice was heard, even over the King's wife. She gained the respect of the warrior troops and their admiration, to the point that they all followed her rules, except for the rebel Nawi, who had some conflicts at the beginning of the plot. Nanisca has a painful past, but she will manage to avenge her honor.
The character I liked the most was the one played by the charismatic Lashana Lynch, called Izogie. Her empathy, her desire that Nawi could see that she really had potential, were key points. I laughed a lot with her character, as she made funny faces and had a somewhat sarcastic sense of humor with little Nawi, which made her unique. In the end we can see that being warriors does not prevent being friends and although Izogie told Nawi that in war you should not help the other, if not advance, she showed her that more than warriors, they were fighting sisters.
