¡Hola amigos! Hoy les vengo a compartir mi reseña acerca de la nueva película de este clásico de los slasher como lo es Scream 7. Una secuela que estaba deseando ver y que pude hacerlo el finde pasado.
Hi, everyone! Today I’m here to share my review of the new installment in the classic slasher franchise, Scream 7. It’s a sequel I’ve been looking forward to seeing, and I finally got to watch it last weekend.
Trama - Plot
En esta nueva entrega volvemos a seguir la vida de Sidney Prescott. Ahora vive en un pueblo junto a su esposo policía y su hija adolescente, Tatum. Tienen una vida tranquila, hasta que el asesino Ghostface vuelve a hacer acto de presencia con sus crímenes. En esta oportunidad tiene como objetivo a la hija de Sidney, así que van a tener que trabajar juntas para vencer y descubrir quién esta detrás de la máscara y hacer frente al pasado una vez más.
In this new installment, we once again follow the life of Sidney Prescott. She now lives in a small town with her husband, a police officer, and her teenage daughter, Tatum. They lead a quiet life—until the killer known as Ghostface resurfaces with a new string of murders. This time, he’s targeting Sidney’s daughter, so they’ll have to work together to defeat him, uncover the identity of the person behind the mask, and confront the past once again.
Reseña - Review
Voy a empezar diciendo que a mí sí me gustó esta nueva entrega. Me parece que es bastante fiel al género y a lo que son las películas de Ghostface. Puede gustarte más o menos, pero no hay duda de que lleva su impronta y tiene esa nostalgia de ver en acción a los antiguos personajes que nos cautivaron en sus primeras entregas hace ya unos años. Así que en ese sentido apela al sentimiento.
I’ll start by saying that I actually liked this new installment. I think it stays pretty true to the genre and to what Ghostface movies are all about. You might like it more or less, but there’s no doubt that it bears the franchise’s hallmark style and evokes that sense of nostalgia from seeing the old characters we fell in love with in the early films back in the day. So in that sense, it really tugs at the heartstrings.
La trama puede ser algo absurda y descuidada por momentos, se perciben esos errores tontos que te hacen replantearte el porqué lo hacen tan evidente. No tiene sentido, pero al mismo tiempo es la magia de este tipo de películas. Ver a los personajes correr de acá para allá o elegir los sitios menos indicados para esconderse porque es obvio que te van a agarrar.
The plot can be a bit absurd and sloppy at times; you notice those silly mistakes that make you wonder why they make them so obvious. It doesn't make sense, but at the same time, that's the magic of this kind of movie. Watching the characters run back and forth or choose the worst possible places to hide because it's obvious they're going to get caught.
A mí me mantuvo enganchada y bastante tensa en varias ocasiones. Creo que eso habla de que logre compenetrarme con la situación de los personajes y la historia que nos estaban contando. La verdad es que no logré sacar quién era el asesino hasta que se quitó la máscara, en ese sentido me gustó que nos pusieron varios señuelos falsos para hacernos creer y desconfiar de otros personajes que nada que ver. Aunque sí creo que hubo personajes que estuvieron de más porque no sentí que aportaran mucho a la trama.
It kept me hooked and on the edge of my seat several times. I think that shows how much I was able to immerse myself in the characters’ situations and the story they were telling us. The truth is, I couldn’t figure out who the killer was until they took off their mask. In that sense, I liked that they threw in several red herrings to make us believe and distrust other characters who had nothing to do with it. Although I do think there were some characters who were unnecessary because I didn’t feel they contributed much to the plot.
Por allí vi cierto descontento por creer que volvería un personaje emblemático de la saga, pero, de alguna manera sí volvió. También fue agradable ver a otros conocidos, aunque solo sea en pensamientos y recuerdos. Por eso digo que es una entrega que apelo más que nada a la nostalgia de los viejos fans y seguidores de la película.
I noticed some disappointment among fans who thought an iconic character from the series would return, but in a way, he did come back. It was also nice to see other familiar faces, even if only in thoughts and memories. That’s why I say this installment appeals mostly to the nostalgia of longtime fans and followers of the film.
El final fue bastante lite, en el sentido de que no pasó a mayores, todo se soluciono rápido y en beneficio de las protagonistas. Igual no me quejo porque es lo que quería jajaja. Pero, en líneas generales, quedé satisfecha con la propuesta. No me pareció tan mala, estuvo entretenida y tiene el toque. Quizá le falta un poco más de alma, de hacerte sufrir por los personajes, pero por lo demás está bien. Es una nueva entrega que apruebo. Así que si no la vieron todavía se la recomiendo.
The ending was pretty lightweight, in the sense that nothing major happened—everything got resolved quickly and turned out well for the main characters. Still, I’m not complaining because that’s exactly what I wanted, haha. But, overall, I was satisfied with the story. I didn’t think it was that bad; it was entertaining and had that certain something. Maybe it lacks a little more heart—that feeling of really rooting for the characters—but otherwise it’s fine. It’s a new installment that I approve of. So if you haven’t seen it yet, I recommend it.
