Watching this movie was so satisfying and intense for me. Some movies make you so tense that you stand up while watching them because you are agitated and you feel like you could just be right in the movie with a snap of your finger. This is the movie.
For a long time, I had been waiting for Elsa Pataky's stand-alone action movie ever since she appeared in some sequels of the Fast and Furious series. The way she acted in the sequels gave me the vibe that she would be an amazing action movie actress and this movie proved me right. I hope the role she acted in this movie will be a role breaker for her in other future action movies.
The long-awaited Elsa Pataky's stand-alone movie, Interceptor is an American-Australian action movie with Elsa Pataky as its star actress. It was directed by Matthew Reilly who participated in writing the screenplay with Stuart Beattie. It was released on 3rd June 2022 with Netflix as its original distributor. The movie also featured Chris Hemsworth (as an Electronics salesman), with some other unfamiliar actors.
The movie is about an army captain who was assigned to a nuclear missile Interceptor base in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. A terrorist emergency attack happened and then she uses her years of tactical training to save humanity from sixteen nuclear missiles launched at the U.S from Russia that has been taken by terrorists who stole them. She was the only line of defense between her country and Russia.
A Little Synopsis Of The Movie
The movie started with Captain Collins being reassigned to one of the US interceptor launch sites in the middle of the Pacific Ocean which was like a form of demotion to her because of the past entanglement she had with a former discharged General from the pentagon sexual assault/harassment. While she was on her way to the newly assigned post, the other US interceptor launch sites in Alaska was been attacked by unknown terrorists as they took control of sixteen nuclear missile weapons.
The terrorists that seized sixteen nuclear missiles planned to launch every one of the missiles. Under the command of Lt. Col Marshall alongside two other officers, Shah and Baker, the site was attacked by a faction planted terrorists. This faction of the terrorist was led by Alex, a psychopathic spoilt billionaire son whose dad is an important citizen of the US. He hijacked the site after which all the officers on board were killed along with Lt. Col Marshall, leaving only Shah and Collins alive and Baker unconscious because a stray bullet grazed him. Alex took over the station with the help of Baker(a sleeper agent) after a while and then at gunpoint he took over the live feed of the whole country and broadcasted straight from the station as the citizens of America all watched what was happening.
Both Collins and Shah were held in restraints as Alex made arrangements for the first nuclear missiles to be released. Along the line, Collins broke free, attacked, and took back control of the station, locking Alex and Baker out. Out of rage Alex took Lt Col Marshall's laptop and authenticated the sink of the station into the ocean. Now the question is how did captain Collins defeat Alex? Did she survive up till the end? Were the nuclear missiles released? I would like to talk about all the scenes of the movie here, so You have to watch it to know what happened.
My Opinion About The Movie
Like I said earlier, watching the movie was very satisfying for me, and kudos to the director and the team. They all did a great job. This movie did not only concentrate on the chaos (interceptors station attacked), it also explored the obstacles and difficulties women face in the military or force. Obstacles such as gender mockery, gender inequality, and sexual harassment which is usually at the top of the list of obstacles. It happens every day that some women don't dare to fight for themselves or speak out and if they do, they are called the enemy.
The scenes of the movie were well cast, and the stunts and action parts were well played. The violence in the movie was worth it, it wasn't too harsh but it was just right. Elsa Pataky acted her role perfectly well; it was like the role was meant for her. Some people had bad criticisms about this movie; that it was terrible, not sarcastic enough, and that during stunt scenes, there were failures. For me, I see none of the failures. The failure I saw was when Elsa was shooting at one of Alex's team and the person didn't seem to die which gave me a cyborg vibe from the Terminator series. It wasn't realistic to me because that doesn't happen in real life. When you are shot multiple times, you die not raised from the dead again. That scene wasn't real and was sarcastic.
My favorite scene was towards the ending which kept me anxious and satisfied as I watched it. It was a good ending and brought a smile to my face. The CGI of the movie was consistent and amazing and they did a great job with that. Also, the plot and setting of the movie were excellently done. Elsa Pataky did a great job with her role, for me, it was a success, and I clamor to see more of her standalone action movies.
My Ratings and Recommendations
Rating this movie out of 10, I would give it 7, but if it were a star, this movie gets 4 stars from me. I enjoyed the movie, it was fun, thrilling, and above all intense. If I were to recommend this movie, I would recommend it to action lovers, young adults, and those who love heroine characters. This movie is a no-go area for children of 15years old and below because of the strong language and violence.
