I don't usually watch much Asian cinema, but after several recent successes (for example Parasito), I've been curious to watch one or another film produced in the East. In this opportunity I want to tell you about the movie called "Audition", or that was the name given to it in Spanish.

AUDITION is a 1999 Japanese horror movie. The protagonist of the film is Mr. Aoyama, a widower for some time and who, moved by his teenage son, decides to look for a partner. But, he feels that he demands too much and that he is not young enough to be dating. So he and his best friend, who is a film producer, set up an audition.
Hundreds of women send in their resumes, and the friend tells Mr. Aoyama, "Just pick 30" for the audition. From that moment on, he is impressed by the photo and what one of the applicants, Miss "Yamazari Asami", had to say in her resume, and I will not reveal any more of the plot. The film gradually shows all its terror.
The film advances in its plot in a very interesting way, I must warn you that you have to have stomach to tolerate watching certain scenes that jump from terror to disgust and unpleasantness. I won't say which scenes they are, but I will say that not everyone can watch them. I watched the movie as a family and for example my wife 
I don't know how popular this film was at the time, or how good or bad a review it received. But on a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate it 7 points. Now, the film does show certain cultural realities of Japan. At least it shows us outlines of a macho society. Not to judge Japanese society, but like any culture it has things to work on and improve culturally.
"AUDITION" is a two hour film that will keep you attentive to what happens even if it starts a little slow it carries its rhythm. It is certainly not the best horror film but it does have its moments that make it a respectable horror film. Plus the aura of Asian cinema is a whole other vibe that I found very interesting. Artistically speaking, for the time the film was released, I think it could have had an interesting impact on the audience.
Psychologically speaking, the film shows us how experiences lived at early ages can mark us all our lives, sometimes for good sometimes for bad, experiences mark us in ways that we don't stop to think about, but act out of pent up emotions. At least, that made me reflect on the film, turning the look on the social aspects of a culture, sometimes, "normalized" behaviors and not questioned by the very fact of being accepted by the majority, can promote in certain specific foci, behaviors or patterns of behaviors psychologically very questionable and even fractured behaviors. No suelo ver mucho cine asiático, pero tras varios éxitos recientes (por ejemplo Parásito), me ha dado curiosidad de mirar uno que otro film producido en Oriente. En esta oportunidad les vengo les quiero narrar sobre la Película llamada "Audición", o ese fue el nombre que le dieron en Español.
Intentaré escribir sin revelar nada sustancial de la trama, pero de todos modos ¡ALERTA DE ESPOILERS! Así que sin más preámbulo…
AUDICIÓN es una película de terror japonesa de 1999. El protagonista de la película es el señor Aoyama, viudo desde hace algún tiempo y que movido por su hijo adolescente decide buscar pareja. Pero, siente que exige demasiado y que no está tan joven como para estar teniendo citas. De modo que junto a su mejor amigo que se dedica a producir películas, se inventan una audición.
Cientos de mujeres enviaron sus hojas de vida, y el amigo le dice al sr. Aoyama, "solo escoge a 30" para la audición. Ya desde ese momento queda prensado por la foto y lo que contaba en su hoja de vida una de las postuladas, la señorita "Yamazari Asami", ya no desvelo más de la trama. La película poco a poco va mostrando todo su terror.
La película, avanza en su trama de un modo muy interesante, debo advertirte que hay que tener estómago para tolerar mirar ciertas escenas que del terror saltan al asco y desagrado. No voy a decir que escenas son pero si que no todos podemos mirar. Yo vi la película en familia y por ejemplo mi esposa
No sé que tan popular haya sido este film en su momento, ni la buena o mala crítica que haya recibido. Pero en una escala del 1 al 10 yo la calificaría con 7 puntos. Ahora bien, la película muestra ciertas realidades culturales de Japón. Por lo menos nos muestra esbozos de una sociedad machista. No es por juzgar a la sociedad japonesa, pero como toda cultura tiene cosas que debe trabajar y mejorar a nivel cultural.
"AUDICIÓN" es un film de dos horas que te mantendrá atento a lo que ocurre aunque comience un poco lento lleva su ritmo. Ciertamente no es la mejor película de terror pero sí tiene sus momentos que le hacen una respetable película de terror. Además que el aura del cine asiático es todo otra onda que me ha parecido muy interesante. Artísticamente hablando, para la época que se estrenó la película, pienso que pudo tener un impacto interesante en el público.
Psicológicamente hablando, la película nos muestra cómo las experiencias vividas en edades tempranas pueden marcarnos toda la vida, unas veces para bien otras veces para mal, las experiencias nos marcan de modos que no nos detenemos a pensar, sino que actuamos por las emociones contenidas. Por lo menos, eso me hizo reflexionar sobre la película, volviendo la mirada sobre los aspectos sociales de una cultura, a veces, las conductas “normalizadas” y no cuestionadas por el mismo hecho de estar aceptadas por la mayoría, puede promover en ciertos focos específicos, conductas o patrones de conductas psicológicamente muy cuestionables y hasta conductas fracturadas. Proporcionando otros traumas y exponiendo vulnerabilidades de las maneras más nocivas. Si ya viste esta película, ya imaginarás de qué hablo, si no, te animo a que la veas.
