If you know me by now then you know that I am a movie/series/anime addict. I literally can’t let a day pass since I watch a movie or an episode of something. Thus, I have seen more movies/series/anime that I can count. Now if you know me you also know that I am totally against the woke culture in movies and how they try to force everything down our throats. Also, I believe mostly everybody loses out of this, the production company loses money, the fans are furious towards the production company and even the writers and even actors start losing their fame.
A bright example of extreme wokeness is Netflix. Netflix lost over 1 million subscribers in 2022. Extreme wokeness was one of the reasons as well as the increase in prices, the installment of ads and of course the restrictions while sharing your account. Now let’s get back to our main topic that it’s the woke culture. Thankfully, the anime industry is intact. Let’s talk now about recent movies and series that got affected badly from the woke Culture
The Sandman (7.8/10 in IMDb)
The Sandman is actually not a bad series compared to some other ones below but it’s too woke to the point that you are constantly saying “here we go again”. In terms of acting, you have some awesome actors like the protagonist for example and some mediocre ones. The aesthetic is great as well as the visuals and had some awesome side stories like with the guy that never dies for example.
Now returning to woke culture what I don’t like about this show it’s that is trying to force the woke culture way to much for no reason. As said in his review, 90% of the people in the series are gay, lesbian, queer etc etc. Even in terms of statistics that’s not representative at all.
Now if let’s say somehow we skip this, a lot of characters are changed from white to black and only from white to black. Death is portrayed in the comics as a pale goth girl and in the series as a black woman. Rose Walker is actually white in comics and portrayed by a black actor and Sandman’s Librarian is a ginger male in comics while in series is a black female. Also, there should be according to comics John Constantine but let’s just use Johana Constantine in his place instead.
The worst part for me is the writer of the comics who gave the green light for the show. He keeps on “fighting” with the “haters” over Twitter, that are talking about how he forced the woke culture. He said that always the comic was woke, that he can do whatever he feels like, that some of the characters are divine beings and can take any form and basically blames the negative reviews.
Now it’s something that's called criticism and many times it’s negative. When you have created a fan base all these years with the comics and they anticipated like crazy a series and then you go and change most of their beloved characters it’s not their fault that they are feeling sad and “attacking you over Twitter”. Also for me it would be decent for him to say that ok did it for money instead of fights like these like children.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (5.1/10 in IMDb)
I don’t want to say a lot of things about this series, I have watched the first 2 episodes and I decided to drop. It’s not good in any aspect, it’s mediocre I would say, the protagonist is great as an actor but the fact that they decided to put the Hulk in a position that is inferior to She-Hulk because she is a woman is crazy. So what happens basically is that our protagonist has Hulk as a mentor in order to manage her powers. Surprisingly though she can manage to stay calm pretty easily and the reason is that she is used to catcalling and incompetent men explaining her own expertise to her that she had built her patience.
Thus, she can easily control her anger because of toxic masculinity while at the same time she is talking to Hulk who literally lost his wife, and fought in many wars where people actually died, he was a slave gladiator for years in space but that doesn’t mean anything I guess.
At the same time she constantly makes fun of men, talks to them with attitude, calls them virgins, and talks with attitude toward Hulk was literally has 7 Ph.D. and 20 years of experience and has in her photo as a screensaver the butt of Captain America. Talk about toxicity…
Resident Evil (3.9/10 in IMDb)
Resident Evil is something many fans of the game were anxiously expecting. Their expectations dropped faster than the speed of light when the show aired. We had the usual stuff, main characters that were white, portrayed by black actors. Characters that were quite smart in the game portrayed doing extremely silly mistakes. They also choose the sexuality of characters just for the sake of, even though it literally adds nothing to the story.
The result thankfully was a quick cancellation of the season after its first season. The funny thing was that after the announcement the main actor of the show Lance Reddick posted a video that he basically says thanks to the “fearless leaders”and cast that made the show and blamed the haters for not understanding what they were trying to do.
Now I did quite understand at all his video. Who are the haters? The vast majority of viewers did not like the show and gave it a 3.9/10? The fans of the game who saw something different presented as Resident Evil and who are the Fearless leaders? The guys that make the show a total failure that led to its cancellation? Also, why not explain what you all were trying to do so that people understand?
House of Dragons (8.9/10 IMDb)
I don’t have to say a lot about House of Dragons. It only has 2 episodes out and in total it’s pretty good. Signs of woke culture are here and there with princesses talking about the unfair world that they are living, in that only a man can rule and a valyrian guy that is black has a main role in the show, he is hella rich and of course, he accomplished everything on his own not like literally anyone else that has a high position.
Don’t get me wrong, nothing is wrong with having a black guy or millions of guys/girls of any color playing in any movie but in my humble opinion there should be a basis. It’s pretty simple actually. If the series is based on a comic, a game or a book then portray the characters as you described them.
Now Ryan Condal himself explained the change saying that “long long ago when he was conceiving the idea of this world (Martin) himself had considered the idea of making Velaryons a race of black people with silver hair that essential are from the other side of the ocean and conquered Westeros.“ So basically this is based on a thought that occurred at some point and the creator decided not to move forward but yolo.
Anyway, that was about my today’s post, I hope you read the entire thing and I also hope to keep on watching less woke shows like some of the ones I mentioned. I highly doubt it but if they keep gathering reviews like She hulk and Resident evil and end up losing money I think they will change their narrative.
