Espero de corazón que muy bien, hoy en un esfuerzo por ser más breve y conciso probare un nuevo formato para escribir y redactar opiniones de películas, tratando de no sobrextenderme como lo he hecho en anteriores ocasiones, empezaré primero con el argumento de la película, los hechos relevantes que ocurren a lo largo de la misma, y al final, una opinión más enfocada en mis gustos personales, actuaciones y contexto de la película, digamos que este es una especie de experimento que aun estará sometido a algunos ajustes, a medida que me vaya adaptando haha, pero antes que nada, espero que para ustedes, se les haga más interesante leer :) sin más que decir, comencemos.

Lagrimas del sol, lanzada en 2003, es una película que pese a no estar basada en hechos reales, ejemplifica muy bien lo que sería un conflicto etnico armado, como tantos que ha habido en África en la realidad, todo comienza cunado al parecer, Nigeria entra en un estado de crisis social y política cuando un dictador toma las riendas del país y asesina a toda la familia real que antes gobernaba en la zona, este nuevo dictador, es un fanatico de las "limpiezas" étnicas y por ende envía a todos sus militares a buscar y ejecutar a todos los pertenecientes a una Etnia que sigue la fe cristiana, marcando el inicio de matanzas por todo el país, la situación es descontrolada y las embajadas proceden a retirar a sus nacionales del País, este es el caso de los Estados Unidos y principalmente del teniente que encabezará la misión, interpretado por Bruce Wilis, y prácticamente, la única cara que reconoceremos al principio, Bruce es enviado a Nigeria para retirar a una Doctora de origen americano que esta atendiendo gente en una misión cristiana, pero al llegar esta se niega rotundamente, al ver que solo quieren llevarse a ella y no a los heridos de la iglesia, Bruce accederá de la agana a sacar a todos los que puedan moverse y es así como la travesía dará inicio por las tierras hostiles africanas.
Tears of the sun, released in 2003, is a film that despite not being based on real events, exemplifies very well what would be an armed ethnic conflict, like so many that have been in Africa in reality, it all starts when it seems, Nigeria enters a state of social and political crisis when a dictator takes the reins of the country and kills the entire royal family that previously ruled in the area, this new dictator is a fanatic of ethnic "cleansing" and therefore sends all his military to search and execute all those belonging to an ethnic group that follows the Christian faith, marking the beginning of massacres throughout the country, The situation is out of control and the embassies proceed to withdraw their nationals from the country, this is the case of the United States and mainly of the lieutenant who will lead the mission, played by Bruce Wilis, and practically, the only face we will recognize at the beginning, Bruce is sent to Nigeria to remove a doctor of American origin who is treating people in a Christian mission, but upon arrival she flatly refuses, seeing that they only want to take her and not the wounded of the church, Bruce will agree to take out all those who can move and that is how the journey will begin through the hostile African lands.

A difficult question to answer, since throughout the film, he will have to witness the killings and witness the war crimes that occur in the areas in which he moves, his team and the refugees will hardly have a rest, as if that were not enough, since a group of clearly hostile militiamen will be very interested in intercepting them and will follow all their steps, until they have a meeting that will leave more than one of his soldiers down and dying, the reason for so much interest comes because one of the refugees who intends to leave the country, belongs to the murdered family of the late president of the nation, so his capture would strengthen the position of the dictator in the country, the discovery is not that much fun for Wilis, but there is not much alternative, and finally, he has to face the group of militiamen who pursued them, triggering the best action scenes of the film.
Pese a que descargan todo su arsenal contra los Milicianos, son superados ampliamente en numero y no pueden evitar que algunos refugiados mueran en el intercambio de balas, por lo que deciden seguir retirándose hasta llegar a las fronteras de Camerún, el acoso de la Milicia no cesa, y poco a poco, cayendo tanto civiles como como soldados americanos, nisiquiera el propio Bruce se salva, siendo herido también y limitando su desplazamiento, pero ante una situación tan desfavorable, un rayo de esperanza queda todavía, cuando contactan a su base para pedir apoyo aereo, cosa que les conceden finalmente y mientras esperan el bombardeo, los solados restantes resisten lo que pueden, antes de que caigan las bombas.

Después de mucho sufrimiento, consiguen aguantar hasta el bombardeo aniquilando a los milicianos y forzando su retirada, del equipo inicial del teniente, a penas consiguen sobrevivir 4 incluyéndolo, los refugiados en cambio, aunque tuvieron algunas bajas, la mayoría lograron cruzar la frontera, respirando por fin con alivio y celebrando que tal vez mañana, algún día en el futuro, vuelva a brillar el Sol para Nigeria y el continente africano, finalizando la película.

Creo que tanto la película como el propio Bruce cumplen adecuadamente con las expectativas, Lagrimas del Sol muestra los horrores que se comenten en las matanzas étnicas, y las horrendas consecuencias que puede ser quedar atrapado en un lugar así, es una película un poco cruda, pues tiene algunas escenas que impactan pero tampoco pretende ser demasiado gráfica, me gusto bastante que plantean todo como una situación bastante realista, de hecho pensé que estaba inspirada tal cual en un suceso en concreto, pero investigando parece ser que no fue así, otro detalle que me gusto, es que no vimos al escuadrón americano implacable e inmortal, teniendo varias bajas el protagonista e incluso quedando bastante herido en el proceso de rescate, sin embargo también hay cosas que no me gustaron.
I think that both the film and Bruce himself adequately meet expectations, Tears of the Sun shows the horrors that are committed in the ethnic killings, and the horrendous consequences that can be trapped in a place like this, it is a bit raw film, it has some scenes that impact but does not pretend to be too graphic, I quite liked that they pose everything as a fairly realistic situation, in fact I thought it was inspired as such in a particular event, but investigating it seems that it was not, another detail that I liked, is that we did not see the American squadron implacable and immortal, having several casualties the protagonist and even being quite injured in the rescue process, however there are also things that I did not like.
Que el bombardeo hubiese salvado el día (Otra vez) es un cliché muy visto en películas de este genero, el hecho de que la doctora se salve también me pareció poco realista, sobretodo cuando no aprovechan para enviarla en los helicópteros primerizos y sabiendo que era el objetivo principal de la misión, nada costaba enviarla también con los niños pero bueno supongo que no habría desarrollo de la relación entre el teniente y la doctora, no tampoco mucho desarrollo por los demás miembros del escuadrón, sabemos que son leales a su teniente y uno que otro se ve afectado, la película no se esfuerza mucho por darles más personalidad, pese a todo, creo Lagrimas del sol es una película bastante buena, e incluso difícil de ver para ciertos públicos, no es una glorificación de la guerra si no más bien, una critica a las desmedidas matanzas que cobran vidas en el continente africano y que parecen no tener fin.
That the bombing would have saved the day (Again) is a cliché very seen in films of this genre, the fact that the doctor is saved also seemed unrealistic to me, especially when they do not take the opportunity to send it in the first helicopters and knowing that it was the main objective of the mission, nothing cost to send it also with children but well I guess there would be no development of the relationship between the lieutenant and the doctor, not much development for the other members of the squadron either, we know that they are loyal to their lieutenant and one or another is affected, the film does not make much effort to give them more personality, despite everything, I think Tears of the sun is a pretty good movie, and even difficult to see for certain audiences, it is not a glorification of war but rather a criticism of the excessive killing that takes lives on the African continent and that seems to have no end.
