I didn't want to finish watching the 3rd season of this series, since I knew that by the time I saw the last chapter, I would have to wait many months for the 4th season, but I still finished it and I think that for now it is the best season of Ozark. As I suspected and as I expected, things in this series were going to get worse and worse, and they did.
Even though I had already been spoiled by the death of a character in this season, it didn't completely ruin it for me, as it was a very unexpected death because of the way it happened, although if I hadn't known that death was going to happen, my shock at that moment would have been stronger. But I'll talk about that later.
Without any doubt, the biggest protagonists of this season were Wendy and her brother Ben. Mainly because Wendy proved to be a character that has had an excellent development, and that has a lot of desire for power. On the other hand Ben stole the show on many occasions, since his introduction, which was perhaps one of the best in this series, I knew he would be a character who was going to bring a lot to this season. In fact, ever since Ben was introduced in the first season, and Wendy talked about her mental problems, I knew that the moment Ben came on the scene, more things in Ozark were going to be ruined. Ben in a way, presents a little more humanity in the series and with his mental issues, which increase in the later episodes, it's really intense. The acting is really believable and impactful.
That's why he also knew that the moment Ben found out everything that happens in his family, things were not going to end well for him. It could be said that Ben was the cause of the biggest disaster of the series, by revealing everything his family does, and what Helen does to her own daughter, from that moment on this character was already sentenced. At the moment when Wendy accepts that she let her brother "die", and when she starts to cry on the side of the road, it was a moment of great feeling, sadness and guilt. Wendy's actress, did a great job of acting in that scene and it is heartbreaking, in every way. However, I don't think Ben is really dead, because of the death that happens at the end of the last chapter.
As I mentioned at the beginning, I had spoiled the death of a character, and that character was Helen, the Cartel's lawyer, but in spite of that, I enjoyed her death, since she was a character that sooner or later had to die, but the way she died, just a few seconds before the end of the episode, leaving Marty and Wendy bathed in blood, was an excellent moment. I really think that, because of this death, is which, Ben's death was all an act, and Marty somehow, made some deal with Navarro to spare Ben's life, instead of Helen's, mainly because we still don't know the real reasons why they killed Helen, or maybe I didn't understand why they killed her, but I'm almost sure that the reason was not specifically said and will be explained in the 4th season. The other reason is that they didn't really show Ben's body, just a "body" covered in cloth, and that's very suspicious. That's why I think Ben might be alive, and I hope he is, he was a great character who deserves more screen time.
And well, these are my final impressions of Ozark, at least of the first 3 seasons, now let's wait for the 4th season, which I hope will come out this year, since I don't want to wait too long. I don't think Ozark is going to be a series of many seasons, maybe 5 seasons maximum, to be able to close all the plots and give us a worthy ending, I hope so.
