| Well, for the crew of Ark, there is at least one silver lining. Command crew cryo chambers were lost to space, so they are all dead and there is some more food for everyone left. But will they be able to conserve water and/or oxygen to survive and take advantage of it? | Naštěstí se jeden z modulů s kryo-komorami odtrhl, takže na zbylou posádku zůstane více jídla, vody i kyslíku. Ale tak jednoduché to samozřejmě nebude. Kdo se ujme velení? Podaří se jim loď včas opravit? |

| The people that are involved with the project worked on Stargate 20 years ago, one of my favorite shows. They bring tension and a sense of urgency to the show from the very beginning and the script is written without any unreasonable political agendas in 1st episode so far. | Lidé, kteří se podílejí na projektu před 20 lety pomáhali s Hvězdnou branou, jedním z mých oblíbených seriálů. Napětí provází diváka od první sekundy a scénář se jim podařilo napsat bez nežádaných politických agend, jak tomu u některých Amerických výtvorů často bývá. |

| I loved the first episode that has just aired, but honor compels me to mention a few negatives too. First, the crew seems to lack the necessary discipline to fit under the definition of Earth's best. Some of the drama is necessary to create an actual show and not a documentary. I think the writers were beyond the 'necessary' a little. Second, way too many unrelated issues are introduced at the same time. Ačkoliv se mi první epizoda moc líbila a jsem rozhodnutý sledovat seriál celý, musím zmínit i několik negativ. Především, je tu problém s disciplínou posádky. Mnohem menší než v dnešchí Star Trekech, ale přesto dostatečný na to, aby posádka nespadala po to, co si představím, když se řekne "Ti nejlepší ze Země". K tomu se už na začátku otevře příliš mnoho problémů, které určitě nejsou navzájem zapříčiněné. Chápu, že potřebují vytvořit napětí, aby místo hvězdného dramatu show nepřipomínala spíše dokument, ale užírá to z realismu. V dalším odstavci jsou SPOILERY K PRVNÍMU DÍLU. |

| A self-appointed captain turns out to be a murderer. Although the circumstances of her crime on Earth may be unclear, she kills a hacker who knows her secret and got on Earth's first colony ship by manipulating the DNA database, forging a fake ID, and some other stuff. He is not the only person who likely faked his way to the ship, a chief engineer appears to be in love with one of her inferiors which is either forbidden or secret to keeping themselves safe. Lastly, governance issues arise as there are three military officers of the same rank. Could continue... | Kapitánka, která vlastním rozhodnutím vzestoupí do této role, je patrně vrahem. Jakkoliv nejasné jsou okolnosti jejího činu zpátky an Zemi, rozhodne se zabít hackera, aby ochránila své tajemství. Tento hacker prolomil všechny bezpečností protokoly a na loď se dostal svými schopnostmi - zmanipuloval DNA databázi, vytvořil si falešné průkazy... Pak je tu zakázaná láska mezi hlavní inženýrkou a jedním z jejích podřízených. Nerozuměl jsem, proč to je problém, evidentně se to ale nikdo nesměl dozvědět. Také tu máme spory ve vedení, jelikož nová kapitánka je poručík, stejně jako další dva členové posádky. A to není všechno. |

| But this is but a minor criticism compared to what a list would include for most other space shows these days. It is written professionally and I strongly recommend checking it out. One more thing I'd like to appreciate - a crew is diverse but in the right way - not just Americans. There is, for a fact, someone with what I would think to be an Irish accent, and the chief engineer says herself to be Serb. This worked very well in Stargate Atlantis in contrast to SG-C which was only Americans. The point here is to open new interesting dynamics within the crew that the show otherwise would not have. | Ale považoval bych pouze za drobný problém. Autoři si se scénářem dali spoustu práce a zkušenosti z jejich dlouhé kariéry se náležitě projevily. Poslední věc, kterou bych chtěl vypíchnout - posádka se skládá z různých národností. Doktor Zelenka fungoval velmi dobře ve Stargate Atlantis, kde vznikla v jeho okolí zajímavá dynamika při interakcích s Doktorem McKey. Pokud se to podaří i tady, bude seriál jednou z dalších ukázek, jak k diverzitě přistupovat správně a použít ji tak, aby nevyvolávala dojem "vynucenosti". |
