Due to the fact that Netflix has canceled the production of season 2, I do not want to continue this series. But ... who will forbid me to write my impressions of the half? Let me start by saying that I was a bit surprised by this decision - the show wasn't bad, it was suitable to watch for a chill out evening (which I found with my girlfriend who doesn't really like anime. My friend, who has never seen the animated version, also said that he wasn't angry.). Maybe that's because the show required a slightly larger budget than Netflix's standard production. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that it was good (and I'm not saying that it was a good adaptation, although, contrary to the criticism of some internet users, I don't think it was also poor or average) - some dialogues caused me a slight cringe, without problem, you could find moments that were in the anime that were added by the authors. Generally, it is quite a similar case to the second season of "The Witcher" - what they took from the original was the best, and what they invented themselves ... Well, it was good at best, but mediocrity or weakness dominated. Nevertheless, it is always much better than the most popular Polish brand in the world - "Cowboy Bebop" at least could be watched and enjoyed, which was impossible after the episode opening the second season.
As I mentioned several times on this blog, I am not a fan of the original. I saw this one once, when I was a young teenager, but I didn't like it so much that I still don't want to watch it for the second time. I didn't like the director Shin'ichirō Watanabe (except for the great "Sakamichi no Apollon", which is probably due to the fact that it was an adaptation of the manga, not his original idea). I would rate each of them as at least good in every respect - level, style, music, atmosphere, story, characters, but ... Well, I just couldn't get involved in the script or the characters he co-created. This was not the case with this series, and I will probably be pelted with tomatoes by anime fans complaining that my taste sucks. I liked the Netflix version of Spike, Jet and Faye more (and yes, I realize they were flattened, just like the characters Sapkowski created). The actors were well suited to their roles and I was amused by the reactions of some fans who complained about Faye's too small breasts or a change in the color of Black's skin. I know tits are cool, but what does that have to do with the skill of the actors? If you want to have a look at a large breasts, then on PH or another website, you will definitely find an "alternative" version of the series. As for Jet, his actor's skin color seemed natural to me. It doesn't matter that much to the story or the characters, so what does it matter? I emphasize, I understand fans' complaints about changes and if I were myself, I would probably be complaining. Nevertheless, I liked their serial versions more. Especially Eina, who made me happy every time he appeared on the screen. He was exceptionally cute.
All in all, before Netflix announced that it would not continue this project, I wanted to write that this is one of the best M&A adaptations the Americans have made. Do not confuse it with a good adaptation, because I do not think so - I can accuse this series of many bad things (the aforementioned dialogues, shallow some, maybe even most episodes, poor scenery, etc.), but I do not think that it deserves such criticism. The series was really good after all, and if some things were improved, the second season could be really good. There was chemistry between the actors, it was quite enjoyable to watch it until dinner, the effects by TV standards looked pretty good (but on the other hand, when the characters didn't move around in spaceships, I felt tacky all too often). Overall pretty good for Netflix, it's a shame I'll never see the continuation of this story. It could have been much worse.
Z racji, że Netflix skasował produkcję 2 sezonu, to nie mam ochoty na kontynuowanie tego serialu. Ale... kto mi zabroni napisać swoje wrażenia z połowy? Zacznę od tego, że trochę zdziwiła mnie ta decyzja - serial nie był zły, nadawał się do oglądania dla relaksu na wieczór (co stwierdziłem wraz ze swoją dziewczyną, która niespecjalnie lubi anime. Mój przyjaciel, który nigdy nie widział animowanej wersji, również mówił że nie był zły.). Może wynika to z faktu, że serial wymagał nieco większego budżetu niż standardowa produkcja Netflixa. Nie zrozumcie mnie źle, nie mówię że był on dobry (tak samo nie twierdzę, że była to dobra adaptacja, aczkolwiek wbrew krytyce niektórych internautów, nie uważam by była ona również słaba, czy przeciętna) - niektóre dialogi wywołały u mnie lekki cringe, bez problemu dało się znaleźć momenty, które były w anime, a które zostały dodane przez autorów. Generalnie to dość podobny casus do drugiego sezonu "Wiedźmina" - to co wzięli z pierwowzoru było najlepsze, a to co wymyślili sami... Cóż, w najlepszym przypadku było niezłe, ale dominowała przeciętność lub słabość. Niemniej, zawsze to dużo lepiej od najpopularniejszej polskiej marki na świecie - "Cowboy Bebop" przynajmniej dało się oglądać i czerpać z tego jakąś przyjemność, co było niemożliwe po odcinku otwierającym drugi sezon.
Jak wspominałem kilkakrotnie na tym blogu, nie jestem fanem pierwowzoru. Ten widziałem co prawda raz i to będąc młodym nastolatkiem, ale nie spodobał mi się tak bardzo, że nadal nie mam ochoty by go obejrzeć po raz 2. Być może dzisiaj oceniłbym go inaczej, ale nie śpieszy mi się do tego - żadne anime, które wyreżyserował Shin’ichirō Watanabe nie przypadło mi do gustu (za wyjątkiem świetnego "Sakamichi no Apollon", co zapewne wynika z tego, że to była adaptacja mangi, a nie jego autorski pomysł). Każde z nich oceniłbym, jako co najmniej dobre pod każdym względem - poziomu, stylistyki, muzyki, klimatu, fabuły, postaci, ale... No po prostu nie byłem w stanie zaangażować się w scenariusz, czy postacie, które współtworzył. Inaczej było w przypadku tego serialu, przez co zapewne zostanę obrzucony pomidorami przez fanów anime, narzekając na to, że mój gust ssie. Bardziej polubiłem Netflixową wersję Spike'a, Jeta i Faye (i tak, zdaję sobie sprawę, że zostały one spłaszczone, tak jak bohaterowie stworzeni przez Sapkowskiego). Aktorzy zostali dobrze dopasowani do swoich ról i śmieszyły mnie reakcje niektórych fanów, narzekających na zbyt mały biust Faye, czy zmianę koloru skory Blacka. Ja wiem, że cycki są fajne, ale jakie to ma znaczenie wobec umiejętności aktorów? Jeśli chcecie sobie popatrzeć na duży biust, to na PH lub innej stronie, na pewno znajdzie się jakaś "alternatywna" wersja serialu. Jeśli chodzi o Jeta, to kolor skóry jego aktora wydawał mi się naturalny. Nie ma on takiego znaczenia dla historii, czy postaci, więc jakie to ma znaczenie? Podkreślam, rozumiem narzekania fanów na zmiany i gdybym sam nim był, to prawdopodobnie bym narzekał. Niemniej, bardziej polubiłem ich serialowe wersje. Zwłaszcza Eina, który wywoływał we mnie radość za każdym razem, gdy się tylko pokazał na ekranie. Był wyjątkowo uroczy.
Reasumując, zanim Netflix ogłosił że nie będzie kontynuował tego projektu, to chciałem napisać, że to jedna z lepszych adaptacji M&A, jakie Amerykanie zrobili. Nie mylcie tego z dobrą adaptacją, bo tak nie uważam - mogę temu serialowi zarzucić wiele złych rzeczy (wspomniane już dialogi, spłycenie niektórych, a być może nawet większości odcinków, słaba sceneria etc.), ale nie uważam by zasłużył na aż taką krytykę. Serial mimo wszystko był naprawdę niezły i gdyby poprawić niektóre rzeczy, to drugi sezon mógłby być naprawdę dobry. Czuć było chemię między aktorami, całkiem przyjemnie się to oglądało do kolacji, efekty jak na standardy telewizyjne wyglądały całkiem dobrze (ale z drugiej strony, gdy bohaterowie nie poruszali się po statkach kosmicznych, to zbyt często czułem tandetę). Generalnie całkiem nieźle jak na Netflixa, szkoda że nigdy nie zobaczę kontynuacji tej historii. Mogło być dużo gorzej.
