Hello friends, good vibes to all.
Today we are going with a movie that I think is very updated regarding a specific topic that has given a lot to talk about in the last days. Do you believe in extraterrestrials, do you believe that they are among us, that they visit us from time to time or even that they are watching us? - A few years ago these were questions that fell into the ridiculous or even fiction, but with all the evidence that has been released, including what was seen in Mexico, there must be something true. No One Will Save You is the new film from Disney+ and Star+, it is a horror movie that has a tremendous peculiarity, in the hour and a half it lasts it does not have a single line of dialogue, that is to say, it is practically silent.
It's not because the protagonist can't really speak but because the whole context surrounding her and her situation lends itself to this scenario. I had a long time, even years that I had not seen something like this, a story that involves aliens coming to invade but all with the nuance of a pure and hard terror. We are talking about a film that has already been praised by Stephen King and Guillermo del Toro and not because they say so I think this but this film has been one of the big surprises of this year. To see how the romanticization that we have had for years with the arrival of these beings falls under its own weight thanks to the way and intention with which they are painted here is brutal. But well, let's go ahead and talk a little more about this new horror film on the eve of October.
We begin with Brynn Adams (Kaitlyn Dever), the sole protagonist of this story and the one in charge of taking us to a not very desirable close encounter. Brynn is a lonely young woman who lives away from everyone in what was her lifelong home. Because of events that happened years ago that still haunt her, the whole society keeps her apart and looks at her with bad eyes, but she always tries to be the best she can, she always tries to be in good spirits and never loses hope that every day will be better. She is a seamstress or dressmaker so she takes refuge in that and despite having no one she manages to keep the ghosts of her past from reaching her.
Her life suddenly takes an unexpected turn when one night she hears strange sounds coming from a part of her house, fearful and intrigued she goes to discover what it is when to her surprise she realizes that they are beings of a strange nature, beings never seen before. It is precisely from this moment when the film turns into a fight and chase between this young woman and a group of aliens who do not know very well what they are looking for and therefore their intentions but from what is seen at first glance does not seem to be something good. It is a film that honestly surprised me a lot, I don't know why I thought it was going to be something similar to Mars Attacks but nothing to see, this is much more somber.
As I said this is a film that is characterized by several things, the first is because no more than 3 words are uttered throughout the film, this is something brutal because it emphasizes Kaitlyn's acting, it makes the way she carries the story more real and physical, she has to have the ability to convey what is usually done with words, it's complicated but I think she succeeds. And the second thing is that here there are certain "Jump Scare" that help to make the first more perceptible, there are scenes that are designed so that out of nowhere something happens that makes you jump out of your chair. All this accompanied by a spectacular intrigue and anxiety, is the strong point of this plot and what you can feel the most.
Terror can come dressed in many forms and in this case the fear of the unknown was brought in. We know nothing about these beings and that makes them unpredictable and mysterious, at first that doubt is seen in Brynn until gradually everything becomes more murky. It must also be said that the human is afraid of everything he does not know and that is different, hence may also come her reaction when perhaps the intentions of these beings were not entirely hostile; there is a bit of both. The story is very direct, in fact not even 10 minutes have passed when you are already introduced to the first encounter, it is a plot that goes about its business without seeking to be pretentious or with extra scenes, always to the point, as it should be.
The scenes are simple, in terms of effects as well, in fact these aliens look good, I didn't see them as trashy or low quality; they have that gleam in their eyes very characteristic of terror that makes them uncomfortable to watch many times. What I also liked was the cinematography, there are passages where you really feel that physical terror, it is difficult to explain it, it is to feel what she is suffering. It has some shades of The X-Files. The truth is that I never got tired of watching it, it is not a plot that bores or much less because you want to know what the end of everything is, why they are here, what they are looking for and that is something that keeps you in expectation.
As for Kaitlyn's performance, what can I say that I haven't already said. She is very good, all the weight of the film falls on her alone, the responsibility for you to enjoy the film, to be scared, to be distressed and to feel the intrigue is thanks to her. She had good expressions on camera, plus the fact that she is a person who has a suffering on her shoulders that makes her more vulnerable is also something that shows. It is quite an experience to watch a movie without having to be aware of what is being talked about to try to understand things, here the film goes by itself and everything is captured perfectly.
This movie gets a 7.5/10. I think it's a good horror, at least a decent one and different from what we are used to see. Personally I liked it and therefore I recommend it to everyone, it is possible that more than one of you will end up liking it. It lasts 90 minutes and as I said it is available on Disney+ and Star+. I leave you the trailer so you can see what it's all about.
¡Un abrazo a todos, nos vemos en la próxima!
Well my people that's all for today, I hope you liked it.
