Asian Thriller, where a desperate mother follows a trail that leads her to a fishing area, where her son, who has been missing for six years, may be.

What is the plot?
Jung-Yeon works as a nurse and is married. The couple has a son who disappeared at age six, but they are still desperately searching for him. Following a false trail, which was actually a two-child joke, her husband dies in a car accident. At that time, a clue emerges that will cause Jung-Yeon to move to a fishing village, where there appears to be a child with characteristics similar to those of her son. But that fishing village and its inhabitants are under the orders of a corrupt police officer. But nothing can stop a mother from doing her best to find her son.

A mother's love is so strong that there will be no obstacle for this tortured woman, who is willing to do anything to find her son, who is six years old and missing.
Time has passed, but she still sees him playing in the house, or eating with her, always imagining him in her life. The child's father does not give up either, in a country with a large number of missing children, it is increasingly difficult to find him, but hope is the last thing that is lost.
After her husband's death, it seems that this search will end up destroying her completely. She is a broken woman, tortured and almost without the strength to continue with her life.
The appearance of this new clue, which came to her through the deception of her brother-in-law, who took advantage of her to get some of her life insurance money, will put her in the direction of that fishing village, where there is a community that seems to commit child abuse.
Unfortunately, the community is protected by a local police officer, who is corrupt and willing to protect the people of the fishing village, even if he has to violate the rules that, because of his job, should be in the service of the law.
In this fishing village live unpleasant characters, some more than others, who will panic at the arrival of this woman who is desperately looking for her son, who is apparently Misun , one of the children they have working, in addition to being mistreated and abused by most of the people in this group of people.
The film has the elements of good Korean thrillers, with twists in the plot that surprise the viewer, a tension that increases in the course of the story, leading to a final part full of scenes of violence, which will make us enjoy, if we like this type of cinema.
It is also a sad film, with a pessimism that is felt throughout the story. The direction of photography and the location of the fishing village, help to convey all that anguish and sadness, which carry most of the characters. Because even the villains in this story, lead a pathetic life.

The film appears to be the debut of South Korean filmmaker Seung-woo Kim (also known as Kim Seung-woo). I have reviewed his IMDB record and there is no other previous work, so this series is his first film. There is a famous actor from that country who has the same name, but he is not the same person who directed this film.
With this movie we see again an excellent actress. Lee Young-ae, known for having starred in 2005 in the extraordinary Chan-Wook Park, Sympathy for Lady Vengeance, which is part of the so-called Vengeance Trilogy. Her last work was in the mini-series Saimdang, the history of Herstory in the year 2017.
Lee Young-ae puts herself in the shoes of a woman who no longer has anything to lose, who is already thinking about suicide, but that new clue about the whereabouts of her missing son will give her the strength to face a whole group of people who are also desperate and will make difficult decisions that will lead to a great tragedy.
The actress gives an incredible performance, like that woman, totally destroyed psychologically, but with a firm determination to find her son. A woman who will have to do terrible things to survive and continue to endure suffering.
Actor Yoo Jae-Myung is the antagonist, playing Hong Kyeong-Jang, the corrupt policeman who maintains a close relationship with the people who live and earn their living from the tourism business in this fishing area. His character and that of the mother looking for her son will have to face a struggle, in which only one of them can get out alive. The actor is well known in his country, where he has worked in more than forty-five productions, some of them made by prestigious South Korean film directors.

Bring me Home is an emotional thriller, with an intense climax that ends with a heartbreaking ending. It is hard not to feel deep sorrow for the mother's character. All that suffering, appeased by that small hope that the child in that fishing village , is her missing child.
Several months without seeing an Asian movie and I loved it, a good option to see movies from the other side of the world.
I recommend it.
