What is the plot?

The miniseries goes straight to the central point of the story, since it has few episodes, there are no filler episodes. I think it lacked a little more length in the judicial process, which happens very fast. That's why I would have liked to see a little more of the preparation of both the defense and the prosecution in the trial. Because what happened in the courtroom was really crazy.
When I say that the story focuses all at once on the crime, from the first episode it's because we know who the victim is and who is the person who killed her. Everything is very clear, the interesting thing is to see how the events happened, what led that character to commit such a brutal act that would shock all the inhabitants of that small community, where they could not believe what happened.
It is disturbing the way the murderous character acted, something that is shown to us in each episode until we finally see what happened, both the true version and the one that was later invented, so the series leaves it up to us, the viewers, to decide which version to accept.
Being based on a real event, it is surprising how clumsily the character of the murderer even leaves footprints at the crime scene, but at the same time acts so normally, trying to put together an alibi, thinking that he would never be discovered.
It is also disturbing to imagine how the most fragile human being can be pushed by his own madness and hatred to commit an act that really deserved a lot of strength. From my point of view, that person had a big mental problem, the amazing thing is that the whole community was fond of him and for them it was impossible to imagine him committing such a horrible act.
That reminds me of crimes that happened in my town, where sometimes the perpetrators are described as nice people who never showed signs of being mentally unbalanced. That's why I'm a very suspicious person with strangers, I don't care if they look like sweet or fragile people, behind that social mask can hide a dangerous psychopath.
Jessica
Fantastic. The actress is fabulous starring in this story. Not only her physical transformation with the help of the wig and makeup, to look like the real Candy, who was not very attractive, but Jessica Biel despite wearing that wig with that eighties lady hairstyle, she does look very attractive.
I'm not sure if when the pre-production of this project started she was the lead actress, I think the character was for another actress who left the project for other commitments and Jessica Biel fortunately got the role, where she shines and shows that she is not just a pretty face and has talent.
The other cast members who also deserve recognition are Melanie Lynskey and Pablo Schreiber, both well-known actors who play the Gore couple. I enjoyed seeing Schreiber as a man bored with his life, trapped in a marriage that makes him unhappy. He is a great actor who I have followed since The Wire , although some may remember him for the obnoxious women's prison security guard in Orange is The New Black.

La miniserie va directamente al punto central de la historia, ya que tiene pocos episodios, no hay episodios de relleno. Creo que le faltó un poco más de duración en el proceso judicial, que sucede muy rápido. Por eso me hubiera gustado ver un poco más de la preparación tanto de la defensa como de la acusación en el juicio. Porque lo que pasó en la sala fue realmente una locura.
Cuando digo que la historia se centra de golpe en el crimen, desde el primer episodio es porque sabemos quién es la víctima y quién es la persona que la mató. Todo está muy claro, lo interesante es ver cómo sucedieron los hechos, qué llevó a ese personaje a cometer un acto tan brutal que conmocionaría a todos los habitantes de esa pequeña comunidad, donde no podían creer lo sucedido.
Es inquietante la forma de actuar del personaje asesino, algo que se nos va mostrando en cada episodio hasta que finalmente vemos lo que ocurrió, tanto la versión verdadera como la que se inventó posteriormente, por lo que la serie nos deja a nosotros, los espectadores, decidir qué versión aceptar.
Al estar basada en un hecho real, sorprende la torpeza con la que el personaje del asesino deja incluso huellas en la escena del crimen, pero al mismo tiempo actúa con tanta normalidad, tratando de armar una coartada, pensando que nunca sería descubierto.
También es inquietante imaginar cómo el ser humano más frágil puede verse empujado por su propia locura y odio a cometer un acto que realmente merecía mucha fuerza. Desde mi punto de vista, esa persona tenía un gran problema mental, lo sorprendente es que toda la comunidad le tenía cariño y para ellos era imposible imaginar que cometiera un acto tan horrible.
Eso me recuerda a los crímenes ocurridos en mi ciudad, en los que a veces se describe a los autores como personas agradables que nunca mostraron signos de estar desequilibrados mentalmente. Por eso soy una persona muy desconfiada con los desconocidos, no me importa que parezcan personas dulces o frágiles, detrás de esa máscara social se puede esconder un peligroso psicópata.
Jessica
Fantástica. La actriz está fabulosa protagonizando esta historia. No sólo su transformación física con la ayuda de la peluca y el maquillaje, para parecerse a la verdadera Candy, que no era muy atractiva, pero Jessica Biel a pesar de llevar esa peluca con ese peinado de señora de los ochenta, sí se ve muy atractiva.
No estoy segura si cuando se inició la preproducción de este proyecto ella era la actriz principal, creo que el personaje era para otra actriz que dejó el proyecto por otros compromisos y Jessica Biel afortunadamente consiguió el papel, donde brilla y demuestra que no es solo una cara bonita y tiene talento.
Los otros miembros del reparto que también merecen reconocimiento son Melanie Lynskey y Pablo Schreiber, ambos actores conocidos que interpretan a la pareja Gore. Me gustó ver a Schreiber como un hombre aburrido de su vida, atrapado en un matrimonio que le hace infeliz. Es un gran actor al que sigo desde The Wire , aunque algunos lo recordarán por el odioso guardia de seguridad de la cárcel de mujeres en Orange is The New Black.
