After the excellent Terminator I and II, I thought that the third film of the franchise, which seemed to me to be regular, would be the end of everything. That third film was not to my liking, but it was consistent with the original universe.

All the last fims have been attempts to continue making money out of a history that has been distorted over time. I thought Terminator Salvation was good, but Genisys and the last one released last year, have been the worst of all Terminator films.
The last one was so bad that it makes Genisys seem good to me.
For this week's movie league, I've selected Terminator Genisys. Because I said, Oh, my God, they did it again! When I saw the news that they were in preparation.
A movie is a product, a studio invests money producing it to make a profit. But exploiting a franchise without bringing anything original or interesting to the viewer has the effect of creating really unnecessary sequels. Terminator Genesys is the most blatant demonstration of the manufacture of a product for box office purposes only. All they do is destroy the good ideas of the first films.

The resistance is fighting Skynet in the year 2032, under the leadership of John Connor it seems to be going well against the machines. Connor decides to send one of his loyal soldiers, Kyle Reese, to the year 1984 to protect his mother Sarah Connor, since Skynet has sent an exterminator to kill her and prevent John Connor from existing. When Kyle arrives at the determined time, he discovers that Sarah Connor is a tough woman, who knows everything about the future. An old T-800 terminator traveled to the past to raise and train Sarah Connor. Everything we saw in the first movie changed.

The story that tells us this sequel was made with only one purpose: to restart the franchise. But even here they failed, because we recently saw another, even worse, attempt to continue exploiting Terminator.
Everything that happened completely changed the story of the first film, the Hollywood executives thought it would be a success and that they could take the story down other paths, modifying the events that occurred in the original.
One of the brilliant ideas was to select the actress who was very famous for the television phenomenon Game of Thrones. Emilia Clarke, La Khalesii, mother of the dragons, was chosen as the new Sarah Connor. She was no longer a naive woman who doesn't know what's going on, she was now a warrior woman, raised by an old T-800 who was preparing her for her future.

The choice of Jai Courtney as the lead was a sign that this was wrong. Almost every movie this actor appears in ends up failing or being bad. Really! The only production that was excellent, and in which this actor appears, was in the television series Spartacus. And that's because his character dies in the first season.
Jason Clarke with the new John Connor was another bad choice. The movie had a bad casting. To make matters worse, they decide, that the new villainous terminator, had the face of John Connor. Something they gutted in the trailer. What was supposed to be a surprise to the viewer, a big twist in the script, we all knew, because it was shown in the trailer.

It was directed by Alan Taylor, who has a wide experience as a guinoist and director of excellent TV series, Mad Men, The Sopranos, The West Wing, Deadwood, Roma, Boradwall Empire, among others. There was a small hope of good quality. In addition, Taylor directed a film by Thor for the Marvel universe.
But that wasn't enough, the action scenes didn't thrill. I didn't feel tension, emotion, they couldn't get me to bite my nails. They were scenes made without passion. I barely remember them, they were totally forgettable scenes.
Despite being a disappointment, you can see it on a Sunday afternoon. The next day you don't remember it. But the worst came later, with Terminator: Dark Fate, but that's for another post.
