My expectations for Vince Gilligan's new series were quite high, and he has exceeded them. This new gem is among the best series released this year. I felt the same way when Severance premiered. Perhaps because both deal with science fiction themes. Ploribus is a beautiful series because it has all of Gilligan's style, those shots, those frames, and that rhythm that already made him stand out in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.

I'm also very happy that they chose Rhea Seehorn as the lead. This woman already did an extraordinary job in Better Call Saul. I loved her character, Kim Wexler, and I thought it was unfair that she didn't win an Emmy or a Golden Globe. It was a real shame. Now she plays the character of Carol Sturka and is the absolute star, proving that she is a top-notch actress.

She carries the weight of the entire story; everything revolves around her character. The others are secondary, although the Paraguayan character has been gaining presence in recent episodes. Every gesture and reaction of her character, which keeps our attention constantly, can only be achieved when you have the necessary charisma and, of course, when the story is interesting, and it certainly is.

Mis expectativas con respecto a la nueva serie de Vince Gilligan eran bastante altas, y las ha superado. Entre las mejores series estrenadas este año se encuentra esta nueva joya. Sentí lo mismo cuando se estrenó Severance. Quizás porque ambas tratan temas de ciencia ficción. Ploribus es una serie preciosa porque tiene todo el estilo de Gilligan, esas tomas, esos encuadres y ese ritmo que ya le hicieron destacar en Breaking Bad y Better Call Saul.

También me alegra mucho que hayan elegido a Rhea Seehorn como protagonista. Esta mujer ya hizo un trabajo extraordinario en Better Call Saul. Me encantó su personaje, Kim Wexler, y me pareció injusto que no ganara un Emmy ni un Globo de Oro. Fue una auténtica mierda. Ahora interpreta al personaje de Carol Sturka y es la protagonista absoluta, demostrando que es una actriz de primer nivel.

Es ella quien lleva el peso de toda la historia; todo gira en torno a su personaje. Los demás son secundarios, aunque el personaje paraguayo ha ido ganando presencia en los últimos episodios. Cada gesto y reacción de su personaje, que mantiene nuestra atención constantemente, solo se puede lograr cuando se tiene el carisma necesario y, por supuesto, cuando la historia es interesante, y sin duda lo es.

Imagine that a virus from another planet spreads among humanity, like a pandemic, and the world's population connects as one and lives in peace, unable to kill any living being, without causing harm, kind, and where all the problems we have, absolutely all of them, are solved. They no longer matter; everyone would live in harmony and without the evil inherent in us. In addition, everyone would be eager to make the few who have not been affected by the virus happy. What would you do? Would you leave everything as it is and live enjoying this new world, or would you be like Carol, wanting to find out how to reverse everything so that the world, with all its crap, goes back to the way it was before?

I am very clear about this; I would do the same as the character named Koumba Diabaté. Enjoy life to the fullest. This character dedicates his life to hedonism, asking for everything he wants, fulfilling his dreams and whims, using Air Force One, staying in the best suite in Las Vegas, eating and drinking the most luxurious food and drink, and having sex with all the women he desires. Whatever he wants and makes him happy, the rest of the people will do everything possible to please him.

Herein lies one of the dilemmas of the series, that clash between the few who were not infected, we still don't know the reason, since most agree to continue living and enjoying their lives, but Carol is the thorn in their side, something that makes her seem bitter and crazy, for wanting the world to go back to being imperfect and full of all its flaws. The character of Manousus, a Paraguayan, is more in line with Carol (I think), although in an extreme way, he does not want to accept the help of the body invaders.

The first season has already ended, and Apple TV has announced that it has been renewed. I think that's excellent. The series has been a hit with both critics and audiences, and, as I said at the beginning, it's another one of the best of the year. Let's see, my three favorite series from 2025 that will have more seasons are: Task, Ploribus, and The Studio.

Además, todos estarían deseosos de hacer felices a los pocos que no han sido afectados por el virus. ¿Qué harías tú? ¿Dejarías todo como está y vivirías disfrutando de este nuevo mundo, o serías como Carol, queriendo descubrir cómo revertir todo para que el mundo, con todas sus porquerías, vuelva a ser como era antes?

Tengo muy claro esto; yo haría lo mismo que el personaje llamado Koumba Diabaté. Disfrutar de la vida al máximo. Este personaje dedica su vida al hedonismo, pidiendo todo lo que quiere, cumpliendo sus sueños, sus caprichos, utilizando el Air Force One, alojándose en la mejor suite de Las Vegas, comiendo y bebiendo lo más lujoso y teniendo relaciones sexuales con todas las mujeres que desea. Todo lo que quiera y le haga feliz, el resto de la gente hará todo lo posible para complacerlo.

Aquí radica uno de los dilemas de la serie, ese choque entre los pocos que no fueron infectados, aún no sabemos la razón, ya que la mayoría está de acuerdo en seguir viviendo y disfrutando de sus vidas, pero Carol es la espina clavada, algo que la hace parecer una amargada y loca, por querer que el mundo vuelva a ser imperfecto y lleno de todos sus defectos. El personaje de Manousus, un paraguayo, está más en línea con Carol (creo), aunque de una manera extrema, no quiere aceptar la ayuda de los invasores del cuerpo.

La primera temporada ya termino y Apple TV ya ha anunciado que ha sido renovada. Creo que es excelente. La serie ha sido un éxito tanto entre la crítica como entre el público y, como dije al principio, es otra de las mejores del año. Veamos, mis tres series favoritas de 2025 que tendrán más temporadas son: Task, Ploribus y The Studio.
