It's been 15 years since the premiere of that series, which became a weekly source of ecstasy for me. Spartacus was inspired by the aesthetics of the movie 300 to offer us a feast (or rather an orgy) of violence that I loved. I don't care what all the Spartacus haters say, that series was great, and I also remember that its lead actor had cancer and, sadly, died, so the character had to be reassigned to another actor who also did a great job. And let's not forget that there was a prequel season, which added new storylines that enriched the whole universe.

As much as I liked that series, at first I thought it was very daring to want to make a sequel after so long. Nowadays, people are very sensitive, and the crystal generation has even influenced those of the cement generation. That's why it's risky to make a production like this now. On the other hand, I wondered why the character of Ashur is the protagonist, which seemed nonsensical to me, since his character dies in the original series.

When I saw the first episode, they immediately explained how Ashur is alive and is now the Dominus of what used to be Batiatus' house and where Spartacus emerged. I liked what they did; it's a valid excuse to bring that character back, with his fantastic side. It's as if we were watching a sequel in which they tell us what would have happened if... I think they knew how to solve that problem to make this sequel believable, plus it was a great pleasure to see Lucy Lawless again. She's still gorgeous! Not only her, but all the actresses who have appeared in this Spartacus universe are gorgeous and delight us by showing a lot of skin.

This is a series for men. For real cavemen like me. With muscular men, sweat, strength, fights, victory cries, angry faces, lots of deaths, blood spurting, mutilations, and, of course, a high dose of sex. There is a lot of sex in this Roman universe: heterosexuals, gays, lesbians, threesomes, orgies. Violence and sex are the hallmarks of this franchise, and that's what those who have seen the previous series will see again. There is a lot of brutality, and we even see a gladiator's dick and balls being ripped off. I loved that scene and laughed a lot.

Han pasado 15 años desde el estreno de esa serie, que se convirtió en una cita semanal de éxtasis para mí. Spartacus se inspiró en la estética de la película 300 para ofrecernos un festín (o más bien una orgía) de violencia que me encantó. Me da igual lo que digan todos los que odian Spartacus, esa serie era genial, y también recuerdo que su protagonista tuvo cáncer y, lamentablemente, murió, por lo que el personaje tuvo que ser reasignado a otro actor que también hizo un gran trabajo. Y no olvidemos que hubo una temporada precuela, que añadió nuevas tramas que enriquecieron todo el universo.

Por lo mucho que me gustaba esa serie, al principio pensé que era muy atrevido querer hacer una secuela después de tanto tiempo. Hoy en día, la gente es muy sensible, y la generación cristal ha influido incluso en los de la generación cemento. Por eso es arriesgado hacer una producción así ahora. Por otro lado, me preguntaba por qué el personaje de Ashur es el protagonista, lo que me parecía un sinsentido, ya que su personaje muere en la serie original.

Cuando vi el primer episodio, explicaron inmediatamente cómo Ashur está vivo y ahora es el Dominus de lo que solía ser la casa de Batiatus y donde surgio Spartacus. Me gustó lo que hicieron; es una excusa válida para traer de vuelta a ese personaje, con su lado fantástico. Es como si estuviéramos viendo una secuela en la que nos dicen qué habría pasado si... Me parece que supieron resolver ese problema para que esta secuela fuera creíble, además de que fue un gran placer volver a ver a Lucy Lawless. ¡Sigue siendo preciosa! No solo ella, sino todas las actrices que han aparecido en este universo de Spartacus son guapísimas y nos deleitan mostrando mucha piel.

Esta es una serie para hombres. Para auténticos cavernícolas como yo. Con hombres musculosos, sudor, fuerza, peleas, gritos de victoria, caras enfadadas, muchas muertes, sangre a chorros, mutilaciones y, por supuesto, una alta dosis de sexo. Hay mucho sexo en este universo romano: heterosexuales, gays, lesbianas, tríos, orgías. La violencia y el sexo son los sellos distintivos de esta franquicia, y eso es lo que volverán a ver quienes hayan visto la serie anterior. Hay mucha brutalidad, y hasta veremos cómo le arrancan la polla y los cojones a un gladiador. Me encantó esa escena y me reí mucho.

When I see those scenes, I get so excited that I want to strip down to my underwear and start shouting like a gladiator. I even think I could do a gladiator cosplay, but when I look in the mirror and see how skinny I am and that I don't have big muscles like the actors in the series, I calm down and sit back down.

In this alternate reality, if Ashur had survived, we would now see him as the Dominus of the former house of Batiatus, a reward granted to him by Crassus, but his gladiators don't stand out much and the other powerful figures don't hold him in high esteem. They still see him as a Syrian opportunist who was once a slave, even though he now has social standing and status. He is not really accepted within that circle, and he only wants glory as Dominus. He wants to forge a champion who will elevate his name among the greats.

There are many new characters, and they all fit into the style of the story. The Doctor is called Korris. Ashur has two beautiful women to spend time with, including Spanish actress Ivana Baquero, who plays Messia. A beauty. There are also many other new gladiators we'll quickly get to know, and I can only wonder which of them will end up dead.

For me, it's been like going back in time, and I've felt the same excitement I did 15 years ago. Spartacus was one of my guilty pleasures, and now, with this sequel, I hope they continue the story with new improvements. Everything remains intact. For me, it hasn't aged, and it was even a story that needed to return to the screen. I recently saw a girl on TikTok whose channel is about movies, and she was talking nothing but nonsense. She's a very young girl who was probably still breastfeeding when Spartacus premiered. She accused the series of all kinds of atrocities. Misogynistic, sexist, perverse, disgusting, etc. I couldn't take it, and although I don't usually leave comments on social media, I told her she was a complete idiot. I think TikTok censored my comment.

Some have criticized the story for including a female gladiator, but within the fantasy they've created by resurrecting Ashur, I don't care, as long as it's entertaining. If we search the internet, gladiatrices did exist, but I think they fought each other until they were banned. Certainly, it's not very believable that a woman could be on equal terms with a male gladiator, as the difference in physical strength is enormous, but for a series in which Ashur returns from the afterlife, I don't care, I just want a good dose of boobs and blood every week.

Cuando veo esas escenas, me emociono tanto que me dan ganas de quedarme en ropa interior y empezar a gritar como un gladiador. En esta que hubiese pasado si Ashur hubiera sobrevive, ahora lo vemos como el Dominus de la antigua casa de Batiatus, una recompensa que le otorgó Craso, pero sus gladiadores no destacan mucho y los otros poderosos no lo tienen en gran estima. Siguen viéndolo como un oportunista sirio que en su día fue esclavo, a pesar de que ahora tiene posición social y estatus. No es realmente aceptado dentro de ese círculo, y solo quiere la gloria como Dominus. Quiere forjar un campeón que eleve su nombre entre los grandes.

Hay muchos personajes nuevos, y todos encajan en el estilo de la historia. El Doctor se llama Korris. Ashur tiene dos hermosas mujeres con las que pasar el tiempo, entre ellas la actriz española Ivana Baquero, que interpreta a Messia. Una belleza. También hay muchos otros gladiadores nuevos que conoceremos rápidamente, y solo puedo preguntarme cuáles de ellos acabarán muertos.

Para mí, ha sido como volver al pasado, y he sentido la misma emoción que hace 15 años. Spartacus era uno de mis placeres culpables, y ahora, con esta secuela, espero que continúen la historia con nuevas mejoras. Todo permanece intacto. Para mí, no ha envejecido, e incluso era una historia que necesitaba volver a la pantalla. Hace poco vi a una chica de TikTok cuyo canal trata sobre películas, y no decía más que tonterías. Es una chica muy joven que probablemente todavía mamaba del pecho de su madre cuando se estrenó Spartacus. Acusó a la serie de todo tipo de barbaridades. Misógina, sexista, perversa, repugnante, etc. No pude soportarlo y, aunque no suelo dejar comentarios en las redes sociales, le dije que era una completa idiota. Creo que TikTok censuró mi comentario.

Algunos han criticado que la historia incluya a una gladiadora, pero dentro de la fantasía que han creado al resucitar a Ashur, no me importa, siempre y cuando sea entretenida. Si buscamos en Internet, las gladiadoras existieron, pero creo que luchaban entre ellas hasta que fueron prohibidas. Ciertamente, no es muy creíble que una mujer pueda estar en igualdad de condiciones con un gladiador masculino, ya que la diferencia de fuerza física es enorme, pero para una serie en la que Ashur regresa del más allá, no me importa, solo quiero una buena dosis de tetas y sangre cada semana.
