VERSIÓN EN ESPAÑOL
Aunque ya pasaron las fechas navideñas no quiero dejar de comentar el especial que Marvel estrenó, ya que sin lugar a dudas nos muestra una de las líneas directrices que el UCM quiere seguir con estas series cortas pero contundentes y con un gran significado, acorde a la época, el de la navidad de 2022 no sé quedó atrás.
Contexto: la galaxia
Los protagonistas son los actores de guardianes de la galaxia, resaltando principalmente Peter Queen, el cuál se encuentra triste, lo cual sirve al guión para darle entrada a la trama, la cual se centrará en su mayoría en cómo devolverle la alegría de las fiestas. Ésta vez quién tomará la iniciativa será Mantis, una miembro del equipo de la cual no habíamos tenido un desarrollo de personalidad importante pero que aquí sí lo hará.
Quiero además resaltar lo que desde mi punto de vista hace que este especial resulte interesante, y es porque para este año tendremos el estreno de la película de Guardianes de la Galaxia 3, además de que la tristeza de Queen no es precisamente por la Navidad, sino por la perdida de Gamora en la batalla contra Thanos, pues, la que aparece en End Game es del pasado. Por ello, esta producción se encuentra entre las dos, cómo una manera de refrescarnos la situación en que se encontraban muchos luego de las pérdidas que tuvieron que afrontar a pesar de la victoria.
Aventuras
Una de las cosas que más me gusta de estos especiales es que es una forma de conectar con los fanáticos desde tópicos especialmente sensibles. Así, por ejemplo, al principio parece que Yondu odia la navidad, pero luego una de las escenas finales nos revela que en realidad logró comprenderla y que, de hecho, una de las armas de Queen (sus pistolas) fue un regalo que él le hizo.
La aventura principal la llevarán a cabo Mantis y Drax, viajando al planeta tierra, ya que piensan que la forma de devolverle la alegría de la navidad a Queen es llevándole un importante personaje para él durante su infancia, Kevin Bacon, el cual (así como en la vida real) es un actor que ha interpretado papeles donde la heroicidad y sagacidad ha brillado de manera particular.
Al llevar a Bacon a la base de operaciones sucede lo obvio, y es que Queen en vez de gustarle, se disgusta porque en realidad lo llevaron contra su voluntad y que en vez de un regalo era lo que conocemos como "trata de personas".
La sorpresa
Queen ordena que Bacon sea regresado a la tierra, no obstante, este en un acto de comprensión del regalo que querían hacer con él, se queda un rato con ellos y hasta les brinda un concierto. Qué bonita sorpresa para nuestro héroe y protagonista principal, como para recordarnos las cosas bonitas a realizar durante esos días.
Ahora bien, la verdadera sorpresa y el auténtico regalo para Queen será el secreto que Mantis le revela, y que no diré para dejar en suspenso la reseña, y para que mis queridos lectores interesados en el asunto puedan indagar un poco, y si no han visto nada de la serie, también se lleven esa pequeña gran sorpresa al final.
Crítica
Cómo ya reseñaba al principio considero que Marvel está haciendo muy bien en explotar este formato de "series especiales", tal vez, sea la salida a su paso a esta nueva forma que quiere probar de acercamiento al público. Como la anterior de especial de Halloween, esta también cumplió con mis expectativas, ya que ofrece lo que dice y además lo sazona con la gracia de sus personajes.
Los guardianes de la galaxia son uno de los grupos de superhéroes más queridos en Marvel, su variopinta composición es una de las cosas que les hace bastante atractivos. Por eso, otras de las cosas positivas a resaltar es el desarrollo de personajes que como Mantis antes no habían tenido un espacio para ello, lo mismo decir sobre la introducción de otros nuevos, como Cosmo, el perro galáctico que parece hacer un equipo interesante junto a otros seres no parlantes en la vida real como Groot y Rocket.

Marvel: Christmas special, the real gift
Although the Christmas season is over, I want to comment on the special that Marvel released, as it undoubtedly shows us one of the guidelines that the UCM wants to follow with these short but forceful series and with a great meaning, according to the time, the Christmas of 2022 was not far behind.
Context: the galaxy
The protagonists are the actors of Guardians of the Galaxy, highlighting mainly Peter Queen, who is sad, which serves the script to give entry to the plot, which will focus mostly on how to restore the joy of the holidays. This time who will take the initiative will be Mantis, a member of the team of which we had not had an important personality development but here she will.
I also want to highlight what from my point of view makes this special interesting, and that is because this year we will have the premiere of the Guardians of the Galaxy 3 movie, plus the sadness of Queen is not exactly for Christmas, but for the loss of Gamora in the battle against Thanos, because the one that appears in End Game is from the past. Therefore, this production is between the two, as a way to refresh us the situation in which many found themselves after the losses they had to face despite the victory.
Adventures
One of the things I like most about these specials is that it's a way to connect with fans from particularly sensitive topics. So, for example, at first it seems that Yondu hates Christmas, but then one of the final scenes reveals to us that he actually managed to understand it and that, in fact, one of Queen's weapons (his guns) was a gift he gave him.
The main adventure will be carried out by Mantis and Drax, traveling to planet Earth, as they think that the way to return the joy of Christmas to Queen is to bring him an important character for him during his childhood, Kevin Bacon, who (as well as in real life) is an actor who has played roles where heroism and shrewdness has shone in a particular way.
Upon taking Bacon to the base of operations the obvious happens, and that is that Queen instead of liking him, is upset that he was actually taken against his will and that instead of a gift it was what we know as "human trafficking".
The surprise
Queen orders Bacon to be returned to earth, however, in an act of understanding the gift they wanted to do with him, he stays with them for a while and even gives them a concert. What a nice surprise for our hero and main protagonist, as if to remind us of the nice things to do during those days.
Now, the real surprise and the real gift for Queen will be the secret that Mantis reveals to him, and that I will not say to leave in suspense the review, and so that my dear readers interested in the matter can dig a little, and if they have not seen anything of the series, also take that little big surprise at the end.
Review
As I already reviewed at the beginning I consider that Marvel is doing very well in exploiting this format of "special series", perhaps, it is the exit to its step to this new form that wants to try to approach the public. Like the previous Halloween special, this one also met my expectations, since it delivers what it says and also seasons it with the grace of its characters.
The Guardians of the Galaxy are one of the most beloved superhero groups at Marvel, their motley composition is one of the things that makes them quite appealing. Therefore, other positive things to highlight is the development of characters like Mantis who had not had a space for it before, the same to say about the introduction of new ones, like Cosmo, the galactic dog that seems to make an interesting team along with other non-speaking beings in real life like Groot and Rocket.
