Succession es una serie que me causaba intriga, me encantan las historias empresariales y por esa razón siempre he tenido en mente esta serie, luego de que me la recomendaran decidí verla para analizarla, para extraer alguna enseñanza o mensaje que ayude en la vida real. Lo que me gusta de ver las producciones financieras es aprender algo nuevo que normalmente no lo aprendemos es las escuelas o en las universidades.
Primeras impresiones
No he visto la serie en su totalidad, de hecho, solamente he visto la mitad de la primera temporada y de seguro tendrá un buen final (solo espero no encontrarme ningún espóiler mientras termino de verla), luego de terminar esta temporada o al final de todas ellas, puedo hacer un post más objetivo sobre la valoración general de esta serie, sin embargo, puedo decir que esas primeras impresiones son positivas y que es una producción en la que no solo consigues entretenimiento, también algunas enseñanzas útiles, en estos tiempos en que la tecnología derrumba paradigmas y cambia nuestra manera de pensar, de vivir, e incluso, evoluciona la manera de hacer negocios.
Empresa Familiar
La trama se centra en el manejo de una gran corporación, sin embargo, el gran artífice de todo tiene una edad avanzada y ciertos problemas de salud, por lo que se comienza a hablar de un cambio generacional al colocar a sus hijos en el puesto más importante en un imperio corporativo. Quizás pueda sonar sencillo, pero la manera de pensar de todos los personajes ciertamente demuestran algunas realidades que normalmente ignoramos cuando se trata de negocios.
Cambio Generacional
La tecnología avanza y nadie lo puede impedir, lo que está de moda el día de hoy puede cambiar en cuestión de meses, por lo que podríamos decir que un buen negocio en estos días puede ser un mal negocio en un par de años debido a avances tecnológicos, existen miles de ejemplos y estoy seguro de que los lectores comprenden sobre estos temas, después de todos, convivimos en un entorno blockchain, disruptivo desde un punto de vista tecnológico y financiero, sin embargo, habrá personas que siempre tengan el deseo de hacer lo que hacen y mantener sus estrategias hasta el final.
Esta serie nos muestra esas dos generaciones, la que está apuntando hacia el futuro y la que se queda enganchada en el pasado, mencionando "mi manera es la mejor", con un toque de orgullo mezclado con soberbia que representa un personaje tan importante. Realmente es difícil el derrumbar paradigmas, sobre todo, cuando las mismas personas prefieren no derrumbarlos al no estar abiertos al cambio.
Personalmente, me ha pasado en que explico de blockchain a empresarios, pero debo manejar el tema con tal cuidado para que se sigan sintiendo cómodos. Al explicar temas técnicos, es como si me escucharan a una velocidad de x3. Muchas personas saben que el mundo cambia, pero algunas prefieren que su propia realidad tenga los menores cambios posibles. Un presidente de una alta corporación puede estar muy cómodo en su silla liderando grandes proyectos, pero la vida nos demuestra que esa "comodidad" es relativa y que sin el cambio de paradigmas que suponen estos tiempos modernos es muy difícil e incluso imposible mantener.
Conocimientos y Actitudes
Otro aspecto que se refleja en la serie, es sobre aquellas deficiencias en los hijos sobre liderazgo, toma de decisiones entre otros factores que pueden ser determinantes en el manejo de una corporación, ante esta incertidumbre se genera la duda, si estos personajes serán capaces de manejar todo este imperio y llevarlo verdaderamente al nuevo nivel.
Las experiencias enseñan más que los libros, por lo que una persona que ha levantado un imperio y lo ha mantenido en la cima por tantos años, es un hombre con una gran experiencia y un agudo sentido para los negocios. El cambio generacional representa dejar de tomar el control y ejercer el poder que tanto satisface al ego, por apostar por personas que quizás no están lo suficientemente preparadas. Una decisión difícil si lo observamos desde esta perspectiva.
Familia
Algo que me atrajo mi atención es una escena en donde el protagonista menciona la frase "todos tienen un juego", como si se tratara de una partida de póquer, en donde cada uno idea una estrategia que lo lleve a la mejor posición posible dentro de la empresa, lo que hace que el entorno familiar sea incómodo. Una familia que lo tiene absolutamente todo, pero que no puede confiar en aquella persona que se encuentra sentado en la silla de al lado en la cena familiar.

Hay mucho por analizar en esta serie, me agrada que podamos extraer enseñanzas en estos primeros capítulos y que podemos reflejarlas en situaciones reales. Seguiré viendo esta serie y en algún momento le otorgaré una valoración tal como siempre he hecho, por lo pronto puedo decir que sí es una serie totalmente recomendada.

Succession is a series that intrigued me, I love business stories and for that reason I have always had this series in mind, after it was recommended to me I decided to watch it to analyse it, to extract some teaching or message that helps in real life. What I like about watching financial productions is to learn something new that we usually don't learn in schools or universities.
First impressions
I haven't seen the series in its entirety, in fact, I've only seen half of the first season and for sure it will have a good ending (I just hope I don't encounter any spoilers while I finish watching it), after I finish this season or at the end of all of them, I can make a more objective post about the overall rating of this series, however, I can say that those first impressions are positive and that it is a production in which you not only get entertainment, but also some useful lessons, in these times when technology is breaking down paradigms and changing the way we think, the way we live, and even evolving the way we do business.
Family Business
The plot focuses on the management of a large corporation, however, the great architect of it all has an advanced age and certain health problems, so it begins to talk about a generational change by placing his children in the most important position in a corporate empire. It may sound simple, but the way of thinking of all the characters certainly demonstrates some realities that we normally ignore when it comes to business.

Technology advances and no one can stop it, what is fashionable today can change in a matter of months, so we could say that a good business these days can be a bad business in a couple of years due to technological advances, there are thousands of examples and I am sure readers understand about these issues, after all, we live in a blockchain environment, disruptive from a technological and financial point of view, however, there will be people who always have the desire to do what they do and stick to their strategies until the end.
This series shows us those two generations, the one that is pointing towards the future and the one that is stuck in the past, mentioning ‘my way is the best’, with a touch of pride mixed with arrogance that represents such an important character. It is really difficult to break down paradigms, especially when people themselves prefer not to break them down because they are not open to change.
Personally, it has happened to me when I explain blockchain to entrepreneurs, but I have to handle the subject with such care so that they remain comfortable. When explaining technical topics, it is as if they listen to me at x3 speed. Many people know that the world is changing, but some prefer their own reality to have as little change as possible. A president of a high corporation can be very comfortable in his chair leading big projects, but life shows us that this ‘comfort’ is relative and that without the change of paradigms that these modern times imply, it is very difficult or even impossible to maintain.
Knowledge and Attitudes
Another aspect that is reflected in the series, is about those deficiencies in the children about leadership, decision making among other factors that can be decisive in the management of a corporation, before this uncertainty generates the doubt, if these characters will be able to manage all this empire and take it truly to the new level.
Experiences teach more than books, so a person who has built up an empire and kept it at the top for so many years is a man with a wealth of experience and a keen business sense. The generational change represents a move away from taking control and exercising ego-gratifying power, to betting on people who may not be sufficiently prepared. A difficult decision if we look at it from this perspective.

Something that caught my attention is a scene where the main character mentions the phrase ‘everyone has a game’, as if it were a poker game, where everyone devises a strategy that will lead him to the best possible position within the company, which makes the family environment uncomfortable. A family that has absolutely everything, but can't trust the person sitting in the next chair at the family dinner.

There is a lot to analyse in this series, I like that we can draw lessons in these first chapters and that we can reflect them in real situations. I will continue to watch this series and at some point I will give it a rating as I have always done, for now I can say that yes it is a totally recommended series.
