Today I want to tell you about this movie, I just saw it last week, actually I didn't know it existed hehe. But, I thought it was very good and, above all, I was very impressed by the direction and the creators of this incredible film.

La película fue estrenada el 30 de Abril del 2021, pero, por lo que estuve investigando, pude notar que esta película, al igual que muchas otras, fue una de las afectada por la pandemia, ya que, como tal esta cinta la iban a estrenar en enero del 2020, y bajo el nombre: Connected. Pero después, por motivos de producción, fue movida a Septiembre de ese mismo año, y después por motivos de la pandemia, se mantuvo en un limbo sin idea de que pasaría con su distribución.

The movie was released on April 30, 2021, but, from what I was researching, I could notice that this movie, like many others, was one of those affected by the pandemic, since, as such this movie was going to be released in January 2020, and under the name: Connected. But then, for production reasons, it was moved to September of that same year, and then for reasons of the pandemic, it remained in limbo with no idea what would happen with its distribution.
Sin embargo, Netflix en Enero del 2021, adquirió los derechos de distribución de esta película, rescatándola de ese limbo, renombrándola como: The Mitchell VS The Machines. Y lanzo la película el 30 de Abril de ese mismo año. Cabe destacar que este film, fue producido por Sony Pictures Animation, y distribuido por Netflix como ya lo mencioné.
However, Netflix in January 2021, acquired the distribution rights of this film, rescuing it from that limbo, renaming it: The Mitchell VS The Machines. And released the film on April 30 of that same year. It should be noted that this film, was produced by Sony Pictures Animation, and distributed by Netflix as I already mentioned.
Ahora, un dato que me llamo bastante la atención, es que, este film fue escrito por Mike Rianda y Jeff Rowe, dos grandes escritores que hicieron su debut en la serie animada de Disney: Gravity falls – Un Verano de Misterio. Y producida por Phil Lord y Chris Miller, quienes trabajaron también en las películas de Lego, Into The Spider-Verse, 21 Jum Stre, grandes joyas la verdad. Dando como resultado esta increíble película, y es que, me encanto bastante, es por ello hago tanto énfasis en estos detalles jeje.
Now, a fact that caught my attention is that this film was written by Mike Rianda and Jeff Rowe, two great writers who made their debut in the Disney animated series: Gravity Falls - A Summer of Mystery. And produced by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who also worked on the Lego movies, Into The Spider-Verse, 21 Jum Stre, great gems indeed. Resulting in this incredible movie, and I really loved it, that's why I emphasize so much in these details hehe.
🎬 Breve Reseña (Alerta de Spoiler) / Brief Review (Spoiler alert) 🎬
Ahora bien, pasando al desarrollo de la película, esta nos muestra a la familia Mitchell. Compuesta por Rick, un padre amante de la naturaleza; Linda, una maestra y madre amble que busca apoyar a todos por igual. Y sus hijos Katie, una chica imperativa y creativa, y Aaron, un pequeño niño obsesionado con los dinosaurios.
Now, moving on to the development of the film, it shows us the Mitchell family. Composed by Rick, a nature-loving father; Linda, a teacher and kind mother who seeks to support everyone equally. And their children Katie, an imperative and creative girl, and Aaron, a little boy obsessed with dinosaurs.

Aquí podemos ver como Katie, está a punto de irse de casa para iniciar una nueva vida, en una Universidad de California para futuros Cineastas. Por lo cual se encuentra muy emocionada debido a que toda su vida, se ha sentido incomprendida, especial mente por su papa que no es capaz de comprender el talento que ella tiene, y lo suele criticar duramente con la indiferencia.
Here we can see how Katie is about to leave home to start a new life at a California University for future filmmakers. For which she is very excited because all her life, she has felt misunderstood, especially by her father who is not able to understand the talent she has, and often criticizes him harshly with indifference.

En la noche anterior a su viaje, ambos discuten, y todo acaba con la computadora de Katie hecha trisas. Su papa, intentando arreglar todo, cancela el boleto de viaje de Katie, y convence a toda la familia de ir en un viaje familiar por carretera, rumbo a California, para así tener la última oportunidad de convivir en paz.
On the night before their trip, the two argue, and it all ends with Katie's computer crashing. Her dad, trying to fix everything, cancels Katie's ticket and convinces the whole family to go on a family road trip to California for one last chance to live together in peace.

Sim embargo, este caos familiar para Katie, se ve afectado he interrumpido por un mayor caos, ya que una invención en los laboratorios Pal se sale de control, desatando una rebelión de máquinas, capturando a todos los seres humanos. Sin embargo, los Mitchell al ser los único que no fueron capturados, empiezan a buscar las maneras de solucionar todo esto, pero primero deberán solucionar sus problemas familiares, porque ninguno de ellos tiene las habilidades disponibles para detener a la inteligencia artificial.
However, this chaos familiar to Katie, is affected and interrupted by a greater chaos, since an invention in the Pal laboratories gets out of control, unleashing a rebellion of machines, capturing all human beings. However, the Mitchells, being the only ones who were not captured, begin to look for ways to solve all this, but first they must solve their family problems, because none of them have the skills available to stop the artificial intelligence.

🎬 Mi opinión / My opinion 🎬
Bueno, primero que nada, en esta película, la banda sonora es increíble, cada música está muy bien colocada. El humor tiene esos destellos al estilo Gravity Fall que me encantaron, y el apartado técnico es simplemente increíble. Y es que, Sony Pictures Animation ha realizado grandes trabajos, como por ejemplo, Into The Spider-Verse, y las películas de lego donde, la estética que ellos producen, utiliza los mejores elementos de su universo, y los combina en la animación.
Well, first of all, in this movie, the soundtrack is amazing, every music is very well placed. The humor has those Gravity Fall style flashes that I loved, and the technical section is simply incredible. Sony Pictures Animation has done great works, such as Into The Spider-Verse, and the lego movies where, the aesthetics they produce, uses the best elements of their universe, and combines them in the animation.
Y cabe destacar que los diseños de los personajes en este film, son diferentes, no se parecen en nada a lo hecho en otras producciones, y aunque a primera impresión me causo una especie de confusión, el movimiento luce fenomenal. De igual manera, en el filme se mantiene una vibra colorido neón, y en ocasiones se cambia esta estética de novela gráfica, por un montón de garabatos, sketches, y memes viejos como del 2012, mostrando una nueva aventura con otras locas ideas.
And it is worth noting that the character designs in this film are different, they are nothing like what has been done in other productions, and although at first impression it caused me some confusion, the movement looks phenomenal. Likewise, the film maintains a neon colorful vibe, and at times changes this graphic novel aesthetic, for a bunch of doodles, sketches, and old memes like from 2012, showing a new adventure with other crazy ideas.
Además, la manera en la que se maneja el color, con las escenas dentro de los laboratorios Pal, y en la secuencia final con explosiones de robot voladores, es algo que me encanto, cada uno de sus detalles. Creo que el manejo del color, es uno de los fuertes más grandes dentro de esta película.
Also, the way in which color is handled, with the scenes inside the Pal labs, and in the final sequence with flying robot explosions, is something that I loved every single detail. I think the handling of color is one of the greatest strengths of this film.
Por otra parte, la película tiene un gran balance con su humor, sus momentos dramáticos, con sus múltiples historias, y con sus personajes principalmente. Cada uno de ellos luce su respectivo tiempo en pantalla, tiene un viaje de autodescubrimiento, y tiene una escena que hace que se luzca completando sus respectivos siclos narrativos.
On the other hand, the film has a great balance with its humor, its dramatic moments, its multiple storylines, and mainly its characters. Each of them gets their respective screen time, has a journey of self-discovery, and has a scene that makes them shine by completing their respective narrative cycles.
🎬 Descripción de los personajes / Description of the characters 🎬
Katie, es una chica que quiere sentirse valorada por otras personas, al ver que su familia no entiende ni valora lo que quiere hacer con su vida, pero realmente ansía también ese visto bueno por parte de ellos. Y este viaje la ayuda a entender que su relación familiar también depende de ello, y si no se comunica como debe, terminara afectando los sentimientos de sus padres y de su hermano.
Katie is a girl who wants to feel valued by other people, seeing that her family doesn't understand or value what she wants to do with her life, but she really craves that approval from them as well. And this trip helps her to understand that her family relationship also depends on it, and if she doesn't communicate as she should, it will end up affecting the feelings of her parents and her brother.
Rick, ama a sus hijos y daría todo por ellos, pero verlos con otros gustos he interese que no son los suyos, lo conflictúa y lo confunde más de lo normal. Y este viaje lo ayuda a entender que, existen múltiples soluciones además de la suya.
Rick loves his children and would give everything for them, but seeing them with other tastes and interests that are not his own, conflicts and confuses him more than usual. And this trip helps him understand that there are multiple solutions besides his own.
Por otro lado, linda vive comparándose con sus vecinos de al lado y solo se enfoca en las deficiencias de su familia. Esta aventura despierta su instinto maternal, y comprende que esas deficiencias, los hacen mejores y especiales, logrando que por fin deje de compararse con otros.
On the other hand, Linda lives comparing herself with her next door neighbors and only focuses on her family's deficiencies. This adventure awakens her maternal instinct, and she understands that these deficiencies make them better and special, finally making her stop comparing herself with others.
Y por último esta Aaron, que en esta aventura se enfrenta al miedo de estar solo sin su hermana, para después entender lo que es el amor infantil, y así tener ataques de pánico, como cualquier niño que apenas está entendiendo que las niñas pueden ser atractivas.
And finally there is Aaron, who in this adventure faces the fear of being alone without his sister, only to later understand what boyish love is, and thus have panic attacks, like any boy who is just understanding that girls can be attractive.
Hasta Mark el creador de Pal, en su propio descubrimiento, y su propio viaje, recibe una dosis de humildad, al entender cómo funciona la mente humana con la tecnología.
Even Mark the creator of Pal, in his own discovery, and his own journey, receives a dose of humility, as he understands how the human mind works with technology.
🎬 Detalles relevantes de la trama / Relevant plot details 🎬
Algo a destacar, es como la película rompe los clásicos clichés en este tipo de filme. Ya que, los Mitchell a pesar de ser disfuncionales y vivir en el caos, no son una familia que se odia a morir, o que no tolera estar junta. Todo lo contrario, quieren ser funcionales, se muestran cariño, pero cada uno funciona a su forma, y sus discusiones son gracias a la falta de entendimiento mutuo que se tienen, así que deciden coexistir por separado, en lugar de enfrentar el problema de forma explosiva, como hemos visto con otras familias disfuncionales en el cine.
Something to highlight is how the film breaks the classic clichés in this type of film. The Mitchells, despite being dysfunctional and living in chaos, are not a family that hates each other's guts or can't stand to be together. On the contrary, they want to be functional, they show affection for each other, but each one functions in their own way, and their arguments are thanks to the lack of mutual understanding they have, so they decide to coexist separately, instead of facing the problem in an explosive way, as we have seen with other dysfunctional families in the movies.
De igual manera, crea un vínculo más especial a la hora de mostrar que katie es la que soluciona estos problemas, y no su papa, o en otros casos su hermano o su mama. Y claramente el filme, le da la batuta protagónica a la hija mayor, y eso raras veces lo he visto.
Likewise, it creates a more special bond when it comes to showing that Katie is the one who solves these problems, and not her father, or in other cases her brother or her mother. And clearly the film gives the leading role to the eldest daughter, and I have rarely seen that.
Por otra parte, el apocalipsis tecnológico mostrado en la película, no condena cien por ciento a la tecnología, ya que no cae en el discurso tecnológico que uno creería en el inicio, sino que utiliza a la propia tecnología como una aliada, siempre y cuando se sepa usar. En este caso el discurso del filme, no es en contra de la tecnología, o la dependencia al celular o las pantallas, sino más bien un discurso anti algoritmo, que se hacen evidente en los mismos diálogos de Mark, el cual hace saber que, la visión moderniza de Silicon Valley, tiene muchos problemas relacionados con nuestra privacidad.
On the other hand, the technological apocalypse shown in the film does not condemn technology one hundred percent, since it does not fall into the technological discourse that one would believe at the beginning, but uses technology itself as an ally, as long as one knows how to use it. In this case the discourse of the film is not against technology, or dependence on cell phones or screens, but rather an anti-algorithm discourse, which is evident in Mark's dialogues, which makes it known that the modernized vision of Silicon Valley has many problems related to our privacy.
Al mismo tiempo, la película se burla de esos tropos comunes que ocurren en cada apocalipsis tecnológico. Y podemos ver como nuestro villano, no le importa el poder del amor o el poder de la familia, se burla de estas moralejas repetitivas, y busca solo pura venganza.
At the same time, the film mocks those common tropes that occur in every technological apocalypse. And we can see how our villain, not caring about the power of love or the power of family, mocks these repetitive morals, and seeks only pure revenge.
La solución viene gracias al caos, al trabajo en equipo, y al enfrentamiento a lo desconocido, ya que Rick debe confiar en su hija para sobrevivir, Katie tiene que comunicarse con sus padres, y linda necesita confiar en ella misma, estos retos hacen que la familia Mitchell convierta ese caos en un tercer acto destructivo, divertido, y colorido.
The solution comes through chaos, teamwork, and facing the unknown, as Rick must trust his daughter to survive, Katie has to communicate with her parents, and Linda needs to trust herself, these challenges make the Mitchell family turn that chaos into a destructive, fun, and colorful third act.
In conclusion, this movie for me, is fun, glorious, colorful, flashy, completely amazing, it is one of the few animated movies, which I currently recognize as my favorite.
