Hello! Greetings to all of you. Today I want to share with you a very interesting movie.
Como ya pudieron ver en el título, la película lleva por nombre La habitación. Este film nos muestra la historia de Jack, un niño que, junto a su madre, se encuentran dentro una habitación, sin la posibilidad de poder salir y socializar con el mundo exterior, debido a los actos opresivos de un hombre identificado como el viejo Nick. Dándole al niño una vida, en la que su mundo solo era la habitación junto a su madre, y para el no existe nada más fuera de ella.
As you could already see in the title, the film is called The Room. This film shows us the story of Jack, a boy who, along with his mother, are inside a room, without the possibility of being able to go out and socialize with the outside world, due to the oppressive acts of a man identified as old Nick. Giving the boy a life, in which his world was only the room with his mother, and for him nothing else exists outside of it.
Esta cinta fue estrenada en el 16 de Octubre del 2015, dirigida por Lenny Abrahamson, y protaginizada por Brie Larson y Jacob Tremblay. Claramente la película tiene una trama bastante fuerte de por sí, una joven que desde su adolescencia fue secuestrada y abusada por su supuesta pareja, obligándola dar a luz dentro una habitación sin poder salir de ella. Es algo que sin duda llego a captar bastante mi atención. Por eso hoy, comparto contigo mi resumen y opinión de esta peli.
This film was released on October 16, 2015, directed by Lenny Abrahamson, and starring Brie Larson and Jacob Tremblay. Clearly the film has a pretty strong plot in itself, a young woman who since her adolescence was kidnapped and abused by her alleged partner, forcing her to give birth inside a room without being able to leave it. It is something that undoubtedly caught my attention. So today, I share with you my summary and opinion of this movie.

La película da inicio con Jack despertando dentro de la habitación junto a su madre Joy, recordándole que es su cumpleaños. En esto podemos ver como Jack se pasea por toda la habitación, dándole los buenos días a todos los objetos, en lo que podemos ver que toda esta habitación cuenta con lo necesario para vivir, a pesar de que su espacio es muy reducido. Aun asi, ambos desarrollan varias actividades dentro de esta habitacion, como hacer ejercicio, medir su estatura, y finalmente se ponen hacer un pastel de cumple años.
The film begins with Jack waking up in the room with his mother Joy, reminding her that it is his birthday. In this we can see how Jack walks around the room, saying good morning to all the objects, in which we can see that this room has everything necessary to live, although its space is very small. Even so, they both develop several activities inside this room, such as exercising, measuring their height, and finally they start making a birthday cake.

Al llegar la noche, Joy lleva a Jack al armario para que se duerma allí, al pasar un rato podemos ver como un hombre entra a la habitación para dormir con su madre, al cual Jack conoce como el viejo Nick, a pesar de no tener un contacto directo con él. En esto podemos ver como Jack, reconoce la habitación como su mudo único, ya que para él no existen los árboles, los mares, u otras personas. También podemos ver como Joy esconde a Jack todos los días dentro del armario, hasta que el viejo Nick se va.
When night comes, Joy takes Jack to the closet to fall asleep there, after a while we can see how a man enters the room to sleep with his mother, whom Jack knows as old Nick despite not having direct contact with him. In this we can see with Jack, he recognizes the room as his unique mute, since for him there are no trees, seas, or other people. We can also how Joy hides Jack every day inside the closet, until old Nick leaves.

Una mañana, podemos ver como Joy y Jack se ponen a gritar muy fuerte, porque según Joy es para que los escuchen los alíen. Claramente aquí podemos apreciar uno de los intentos desesperados por Joy, para poder salir de allí junto a su hijo, intentando de que alguien más los escuche, pero no resulta.
One morning, we can see how Joy and Jack start screaming very loudly, because according to Joy it is so that the aliens hear them. Clearly here we can see one of Joy's desperate attempts to get out of there with her son, trying to get someone else to listen to them, but it doesn't work.

Tras un evento inesperado, en el que Jack intenta ver más de cerca al viejo Nick, su madre sale lastimada, por lo que esta al día siguiente decide contarle a Jack sobre el mundo exterior, diciéndole que allá afuera hay árboles, animales, y otras personas. Joy también le cuenta que, cuando tenía 17 años, el viejo Nick la secuestro y la encerró en ese cobertizo todo ese tiempo hasta el día de ahora, sin embargo, Jack no le cree y terminan discutiendo.
After an unexpected event, in which Jack tries to get a closer look at old Nick, his mother gets hurt, so she is, the next day decides to tell Jack about the outside world, telling him that out there there are trees, animals, and other people. Joy also tells him that, when she was 17, old Nick kidnapped her and locked her in that shed all that time until now, however, Jack doesn't believe her and they end up arguing.

Aun asi Jack se llena de curiosidad, y terminada preguntándole a su mama por el mundo exterior. Por lo que su madre decide sacar a su hijo a toda costa, ideando un plan para sacarlo de allí. Al principio esta finge tener a Jack enfermo para que el viejo Nick lo lleve al médico, pero no resulta, por lo que decide envolverlo en una alfombra y fingir que está muerto.
Still, Jack is filled with curiosity, and ends up asking his mother about the outside world. So his mother decides to get her son out at all costs, devising a plan to get him out of there. At first she pretends to have Jack sick so that old Nick will take him to the doctor, but it doesn't work, so she decides to wrap him in a rug and pretend he's dead.

De esta manera el viejo Nick se cree la situación, y se lleva el cuerpo del niño envuelto en la alfombra, colocándolo en la parte trasera de su camioneta. De esta manera Jack por fin logra salir de la habitación, quedando completamente impactado con toda la luz y la variedad de colores a su alrededor. En eso recuerda el plan de su madre de pedir ayuda, y logra saltar de la camioneta cuando se detuvo en un semáforo, el viejo Nick logra darse cuenta, pero decide salir huyendo, ya que logro llamar la atención de una persona.
In this way the old Nick believes the situation, and takes the boy's body wrapped in the carpet, placing it in the back of his truck. In this way Jack finally manages to leave the room, being completely shocked with all the light and the variety of colors around him, in that he remembers his mother's plan to ask for help, and manages to jump out of the truck when it stopped at a traffic light, old Nick manages to realize it, but decides to run away, since he managed to get the attention of a person.

Al llegar la policía, se llevan a Jack y aunque este se encontraba un poco aturdido, logra darle la información al oficial, y estos logran encontrar el lugar donde se encuentra Joy, y rescatarla, así que Joy y Jack se reencuentran y se abrazan muy felices. Una parte bastante conmovedora para mí la verdad.
When the police arrive, they take Jack and although he was a little dazed, he manages to give the information to the officer, and they manage to find the place where Joy is and rescue her, so Joy and Jack are reunited and hug each other very happily. A very touching part for me.

Al día siguiente Joy y Jack despiertan juntos en el hospital, donde un médico les da protector solar, unos lentes para la luz, y unos cubre bocas para Jack hasta que se acostumbre al aire de la ciudad. De igual manera, en ese momento llegan los padres de Joy, y se abrazan después de tanto tiempo, pero le confiesan a Joy que ellos están separados. Luego Joy y Jack logran ver en las noticias que, lograron arrestar al viejo Nick.
The next day Joy and Jack wake up together at the hospital, where a doctor gives them sunscreen, sunglasses, and mouthguards for Jack until he gets used to the city air. At the same time, Joy's parents arrive, and they embrace after such a long time, but confess to Joy that they are separated. Then Joy and Jack manage to see on the news that, they managed to arrest old Nick.

Después de unos días, Joy y Jack por fin salen del hospital, para irse a vivir a casa de la mama de Joy. Sin embargo, al llegar se dan cuenta que hay muchas personas con cámara, pues la noticia se hizo viral, pero estos entran a la casa sin dar explicaciones. Y adentro se encuentran con Leo, quien es la nueva pareja de la mama de Joy. Aquí podemos ver como Jack no se separa en ningún momento del lado de su mama, y tampoco intenta hablar con nadie más, ya que hasta ahora todo es muy nuevo para él.
After a few days, Joy and Jack finally leave the hospital to go live at Joy's mother's house. However, when they arrive they realize that there are many people with cameras, because the news went viral, but they enter the house without giving explanations. And inside they meet Leo, who is Joy's mom's new partner. Here we can see how Jack doesn't leave his mother's side at any moment, and he doesn't try to talk to anyone else either, since so far everything is very new to him.

En ese mismo momento durante la cena, vemos que el papa de Joy se encuentra un poco incómodo, por lo que Joy le pregunta si hay algún problema, y le reclama el hecho de que no ha intentado hablar con su hijo, entonces el papa le dice que no puede, porque el niño le recuerda al secuestrador. Joy se enoja con él, y decide irse a su cuarto con el niño, por otro lado, el padre decide irse de la casa.
At that same moment during dinner, we see that Joy's father is a little uncomfortable, so Joy asks him if there is a problem, and complains about the fact that he has not tried to talk to his son, then the father tells him that he can not, because the child reminds him of the kidnapper. Joy gets angry with him, and decides to go to her room with the child, on the other hand, the father decides to leave the house.

Seguidamente Joy empieza a ver unas viejas fotos de sus amigas, y se empieza sentir muy mal, al darse cuenta que ellas si tuvieron una vida normal. Por otra parte, un abogado le propone a Joy que haga una entrevista, donde cuente todo lo que le paso, para que así la prensa la deje de molestar, a lo que ella dice; que lo va a pensar. Por otro lado, Jack empieza a soltarse con los demás, mientras que Joy se deprime cada vez más, al punto de molestarse con su hijo, y discutir con su madre.
Then Joy begins to see some old photos of her friends, and she begins to feel very bad, realizing that they did have a normal life. On the other hand, a lawyer suggests Joy to do an interview, where she tells everything that happened to her, so that the press will stop bothering her, to which she says that she will think about it. On the other hand, Jack begins to loosen up with the others, while Joy becomes more and more depressed, to the point of getting upset with her son and arguing with her mother.

Días después, Joy accede a gravar la entrevista, pero durante la mismas, le cuestionan el hecho de dejar a su hijo encerrado, pues le dicen que pudo haberle dicho al viejo Nick que dejara por lo menos libre al niño. En eso Joy se empieza a cuestionar, si verdaderamente es una buena madre, y se deprime tanto que intenta suicidarse tomando muchas pastillas. Entonces llevan a Joy al hospital, dejando a Jack muy preocupado.
A few days later, Joy agrees to record the interview, but during the interview, she is questioned about leaving her son locked up, because they say she could have told old Nick to at least let the boy go free. At that point Joy begins to question whether she is really a good mother, and becomes so depressed that she tries to commit suicide by taking a lot of pills. Joy is then taken to the hospital, leaving Jack very worried.

A la maña siguiente, Joy se encuentra mucho mejor y decide hablar con su hijo por teléfono, y le dice que tendrá que quedar unos cuantos días en el hospital, a lo que Jack responde que está muy enojado porque lo dejo solo. Después podemos ver como Jack reflexiona acerca del mundo, reconociendo que este es muy grande, y que se siente muy solo sin su mama. Un día Jack se pone a cocinar con su abuela, y al hablar con ella le confiesa que extraña la habitación, ya que, aunque fuera pequeña, nunca se separaba de su mama.
The next morning, Joy is feeling much better and decides to talk to her son on the phone, and tells him that he will have to stay a few days in the hospital, to which Jack responds that he is very angry because he left him alone. Later we can see how Jack reflects on the world, recognizing that it is very big, and that he feels very lonely without his mother. One day Jack starts cooking with his grandmother, and when he talks to her he confesses that he misses the room, since, even though he was little, he was never separated from his mother.

Los días pasan, y vemos como Jack se va desenvolviendo cada vez más con todos, a tal punto de hablar con su abuela, y pedirle que le corte el cabello para enviárselo a su mama para que esta se recupere mas rápido, ya que para él, cree que su fuerza proviene de su cabello. Después vemos como Jack hace un nuevo amigo, y se divierte jugando con él, en ese momento regresa Joy del Hospital, y se alegra al ver a su hijo jugando con otro niño.
The days go by, and we see how Jack is getting more and more involved with everyone, to the point of talking to his grandmother, and asking her to cut his hair to send it to his mother so that she can recover faster, since he believes that his strength comes from his hair. Later we see how Jack makes a new friend, and has fun playing with him, at that moment Joy returns from the Hospital, and is happy to see her son playing with another child.

Después de reconciliarse con su hijo, vemos como ambos empiezan a viajar y pasear por varios lugares y divertirse juntos. Aun así, Jack le pide a su mama volver a visitar la habitación, a lo que Joy accede. Al llegar al cuarto vemos como Jack empieza despedirse de cada uno de los objetos del cuarto, y le dice a su mama que también se despida, algo que para él fue un paso para dejar atrás ese mundo en el que se crio y poder dar paso a su nueva vida. Y de esta manera culmina esta película, regalándonos momentos bastante emotivos y muy bien actuados.
After reconciling with her son, we see how they both start to travel and go to various places and have fun together. Still, Jack asks his mother to revisit the room, to which Joy agrees. Upon arriving at the room we see how Jack begins to say goodbye to each of the objects in the room, and tells his mother to say goodbye too, something that for him was a step to leave behind the world in which he grew up and to make way for his new life. And this is how this film ends, giving us emotional and very well acted moments.

Opinión / Opinion
Sinceramente me pareció una película maravillosa y emotiva, con una historia bastante interesante y con mucho potencial. Cosa que, desde mi punto de vista no me decepciono en lo absoluto. La narrativa es simplemente cautivadora, haciendo que la película progrese de una gran manera. Es maravilloso, como crear un universo dentro una pequeña habitación, desde el primer acto, hace que te sientas inmerso en ese lugar, junto con los personajes principales.
I honestly thought it was a wonderful and emotional film, with a very interesting story and a lot of potential. Which, from my point of view, did not disappoint me at all. The narrative is simply captivating, making the film progress in a great way. It's wonderful, how creating a universe inside a small room, from the first act, makes you feel immersed in that place, along with the main characters.
La forma de firmar en este espacio reducido fue simplemente brillante. De igual manera, nos muestra el escenario a través de los ojos de alguien, para quien este lugar es toda su vida. En eso podemos observar una mayor amplitud de lo que en realidad existe, al mismo tiempo que vemos la perspectiva real con el personaje adulto. Y esto es también, gracias a los dos actores, que conviven de una manera orgánica y real.
The way he signed in this confined space was simply brilliant. Likewise, it shows us the setting through the eyes of someone, for whom this place is his whole life. In that we can observe a greater breadth of what actually exists, at the same time we see the real perspective with the adult character. And this is also thanks to the two actors, who coexist in an organic and real way.
Brie Larson (Joy) trasmite un amor maternal que trasciende, al ver todo lo que hace, para que su hijo tenga “una vida normal” a pesar de las limitaciones con las que cuenta, además de que su personaje evoluciona en los siguientes actos, y nos muestra una faceta distinta a la que conocimos en primera instancia. De igual manera Jacob Tremblay (Jack) nos regala una actuación genial y autentica, de verdad parece que es alguien que solo conoce este universo, y es palpable su sensación de maravilla y de confusión, al encontrarse con algo nuevo, que para nosotros es cotidiano. Y todo esto se adereza con la gran química que hay entre él y Brie Larson.
Brie Larson (Joy) transmits a maternal love that transcends, seeing everything she does, so that her son has "a normal life" despite the limitations he has, in addition to the fact that her character evolves in the following acts, and shows us a different side to the one we knew in the first instance. Similarly Jacob Tremblay (Jack) gives us a great and authentic performance, it really seems that he is someone who only knows this universe, and his sense of wonder and confusion is palpable, to meet something new, which for us is everyday. And all of this is garnished with the great chemistry between him and Brie Larson.
Hablando de encontrar nuevas cosas, esta película no es la típica de: se escaparon y vivieron felices para siempre. Sino que podemos ver más allá, las dificultades con la mama para conectarse nuevamente con el mundo, y las dificultades de este niño al enfrentarse al mundo por primera vez. Dejándonos ver un proceso de adaptación, en el que cada personaje lo atraviesa de una manera distinta. De estar unidos en este cuarto, al momento de enfrentar a la realidad existe una separación, con dos perspectivas paralelas, que comparten un mismo pasado. Sin duda este fue uno de los puntos que más me gusto.
Speaking of finding new things, this movie is not your typical: they ran away and lived happily ever after. But we can see beyond that, the difficulties with the mother to reconnect with the world, and the difficulties of this child facing the world for the first time. Letting us see a process of adaptation, in which each character goes through it in a different way. From being united in this room, at the moment of facing reality there is a separation, with two parallel perspectives, sharing the same past. Undoubtedly this was one of the points I liked the most.
La habitación es una película llena de emoción, sentimiento, y drama. Sinceramente un film que vale la pena ver dos veces, si aún no las has visto te invito a verla, es muy buen la verdad.
The Room is a film full of emotion, feeling, and drama. Sincerely a film worth seeing twice, if you haven't seen it yet I invite you to watch it, it's really good.
