Rebel Ridge es una película de Netflix que vi el fin de semana, estuvo buena porque es un thriller que tiene acción con un enfoque realista de la trama, aunque en algún momento me pareció que se alargaba más de lo necesario. La película comienza con Terry Richmond cuando unos policías lo tumban de su bicicleta, él está intentando entregar unos cuantos miles de dólares como más de 30mil para pagar la fianza de su primo, pero la policía no perdió tiempo y vio la oportunidad de confiscar el dinero bajo un cuento loco que le metieron, según ellos y que confiscación civil de bienes, porque ellos dicen que el dinero viene del narcotráfico y no tienen ninguna prueba para esto. Al principio pensé que lo hacían porque es negro pero después me di cuenta que es que son unos corruptos, la historia se me pareció tanto a lo que pasa en mi país, pasa en películas pasa en la vida real.
Me dio demasiada rabia porque sentí demasiada injusticia, después me calmé porque ajá es una película jajhaja, pero bueno estos imbéciles le quitan el dinero y esto hace que se genere toda la trama. Terry tiene que recuperar el dinero y trata de hacerlo por la vía legal hasta que descubre toda la red de corrupción que hay, el jefe de los policías es el cabecilla de todo esto y el tipo cree que está blindado. A medida que los intentos de Terry por resolver la situación de manera tranquila fracasan uno tras otro, se ve obligado a recurrir a su entrenamiento militar para enfrentarse a todo el departamento de policía y aquí la cosa se pone buena porque hay tiroteo del bueno, me gustan este tipo de películas así. La película no va directo a la acción sino que muestra todo el proceso por el que Terry pasa para recuperar el dinero y salvar a su primo y esto a veces parece que sea lenta la cosa pero cuando todo se vuelve explosivo vale la pena la espera.
El que hace de Terry es Aaron Pierre, me gustó su actuación porque el tipo tiene presencia pero me pareció que en las escenas de acción era un poco lento como que tardaba para correr o hacer lo movimientos pero estuvo bien y Don Johnson es Burnne el jefe de los malos, me cayó malísimo y disfruté cuando le dieron su merecido porque es el típico tipo que abusa de su poder. Pero lo mejor de Rebel Ridge no son las actuaciones sino la forma como va aumentando la tensión, mi escena favorita es cuando Terry está discutiendo con Burnne fuera de la comisaría, y los policías que están adentro están investigando sus antecedentes militares hasta que uno descubre lo que significan unas siglas y resulta que se dan cuenta que formaba parte del programa de artes marciales de los marines pero se dan cuenta tarde porque cuando le van con la noticia a Burnne ya había comenzado la paliza, en esa parte tuve que poner pausa y devolver un poquito la pelicula porque no entendí al principio lo de las siglas pero cuando lo capté y vino la acción me emocioné.
Aunque el final de Rebel Ridge es predecible me pareció satisfactorio, Terry y Summer una amiga que hizo en los tribunales tienen pruebas de la corrupción y este se lanza a la comisaría para recuperar su dinero y sacar la verdad a la luz, se sintió bien ver a Terry burlando a los policías que abusaron de su poder y Burnne recibe su merecido, no es que el final intente resolver todos los problemas de la sociedad, Terry no intenta arreglar todo el sistema, él está pendiente de su dinero y de que se haga justicia tanto para él y para su primo y esto me gustó porque no es que quiere ser un héroe y eso es algo bastante realista, yo le doy un 7.5/10 a Rebel Ridge porque aunque sea un poco lenta al principio, tiene buenas escenas de acción y me gusta ver a los buenos ganar, se sintió un fresquito ver a este hombre pelear contra la corrupción y que saliera vencedor después de todo lo que pasó, creo que muchos en algún momento hemos sido víctima de la corrupción y la injusticia y algunas veces nos hemos tenido que quedar de brazos cruzados porque no hay quien te ampare, por eso me gustó que Terry les pateara el trasero a todos aunque sea una simple película.

Rebel Ridge is a Netflix movie that I watched over the weekend, it was good because it is a thriller that has action with a realistic approach to the plot, although at some point I felt it dragged on longer than necessary. The movie starts with Terry Richmond when some cops knock him off his bike, he is trying to deliver a few thousand dollars like more than 30mil to pay his cousin's bail, but the police wasted no time and saw the opportunity to confiscate the money under a crazy story they put him under, according to them and that civil asset forfeiture, because they say the money comes from drug trafficking and they have no proof for this. At first I thought they were doing it because it is black but then I realized that they are corrupt, the story was so similar to what happens in my country, it happens in movies, it happens in real life.
It gave me too much anger because I felt too much injustice, then I calmed down because aha it's a movie hahaha, but well these assholes take the money and this generates the whole plot. Terry has to recover the money and tries to do it by legal means until he discovers the whole network of corruption that exists, the police chief is the ringleader of all this and the guy thinks he is armored. As Terry's attempts to resolve the situation in a calm manner fail one after another, he is forced to resort to his military training to take on the entire police department and here it gets good because there is gunplay of the good kind, I like this kind of movies like this. The movie doesn't go straight to the action but shows the whole process Terry goes through to get the money back and save his cousin and this sometimes seems to be slow going but when it all gets explosive it's worth the wait.
The guy who plays Terry is Aaron Pierre, I liked his performance because the guy has presence but I thought in the action scenes he was a little slow like he took a while to run or do the moves but he was ok and Don Johnson is Burnne the boss of the bad guys, I liked him a lot and I enjoyed when he got his comeuppance because he is the typical guy who abuses his power. But the best part of Rebel Ridge is not the performances but the way the tension builds, my favorite scene is when Terry is arguing with Burnne outside the police station, and the cops inside are investigating his military background until one of them finds out what the acronyms mean and it turns out that he was part of the marines martial arts program but they realize it late because when they go to Burnne with the news he had already started the beating, in that part I had to pause and return the movie a little bit because I didn't understand at first the acronyms but when I caught it and the action came I was thrilled.
Although the ending of Rebel Ridge is predictable I found it satisfying, Terry and Summer a friend he made in court have proof of corruption and this one goes to the police station to get his money back and get the truth out in the open, it felt good to see Terry outwitting the cops who abused their power and Burnne gets his comeuppance, it's not like the ending is trying to solve all of society's problems, Terry isn't trying to fix the whole system, he's looking out for his money and justice for both him and his cousin and I liked this because it's not like he wants to be a hero and that's a pretty realistic thing, I give it a 7. 5/10 to Rebel Ridge because although it is a little slow at the beginning, it has good action scenes and I like to see the good guys win, it felt cool to see this man fight against corruption and come out victorious after everything that happened, I think many of us at some point have been victims of corruption and injustice and sometimes we have had to stand idly by because there is no one to protect you, so I liked that Terry kicked everyone's ass even though it is a simple movie.
