Today I watched the best film of the year, and as today is the 1st of January, I hope to see many more such films.
It's not an easy task to make a film that mixes the horror genre with crime noir, in fact it's very difficult, but I saw a film that combines a great mystery with horror elements, and at the same time it's atmospheric enough to be noir.
Director Jacob Gentry creates a story inspired by events that took place in 1980s Britain, but goes a step further by adding an air of mystery and madness.
The film sometimes gives confusing clues for the viewer and the protagonist to follow, but in the end it all goes to such a surprising end that we can interpret the ending in different ways.
This is the magical world of Annie (YouTube channel) translated into film language with added plot and intrigue like in the film 8MM
It is engaging, surprising and works perfectly as a detective story, while as a horror film it works quite well creating a psychopathic image for the main character.

James's occupation is to lose TV programmes to DVD and repair old cameras. Everyday life depresses him and he can't get over the mysterious death of his wife.
One evening, while copying a funny programme, the picture suddenly disappears and a mysterious figure with a mask on his face appears. James starts looking for elements that were hidden on the tape, another tape with a strange motif only strengthens his conviction that he witnessed someone kidnapping women and then burying them, and on film he wants to confess in his own sick way.

James travels through strange places to find the mysterious cameraman, accompanied by a woman who tries to understand the intricacies of the whole plot.
James loses his job and becomes increasingly desperate to find the person so that he can be at peace.
The work is very good to watch, it tells the story slowly at first, and then in the second part of the film it all unfolds in such a way that the audience starts to guess the mystery, and in the third act everything is so mixed up that we feel lost, but at the same time satisfied with what we have seen.
It's been a long time since I've seen such a well-made film, where instead of a stream of blood we have a mystery and we stick to it until the end.

Dziś obejrzałem najlepszy film tego roku, a jako ze dziś 1 stycznia to mam nadzieje, ze takich filmów obejrzę dużo więcej.
Zrobić film, który będzie mieszał gatunek horroru z kryminałem noir to nie jest łatwe zadanie, a wręcz bardzo trudne, ale jednak obejrzałem film, który łączy świetna zagadkę z watkami horroru, a przy tym jest na tyle klimatyczny, ze mógłby być noir.
Reżyser Jacob Gentry tworzy historie inspirowana wydarzeniami, które miały miejsce w latach 80 w Wielkiej Brytanii, ale idzie krok dalej dodaje do niej otoczkę tajemniczości oraz obłędu.
Film miejscami daje mylne wskazówki by widz i bohater podążył ścieżka, jednak ostatecznie wszystko idzie w tak zaskakujący finał, ze możemy różnie interpretować zakończenie.

Wciaga, zaskakuje i działa idealnie jako kryminał, zaś jako horror sprawuje się całkiem sprawnie tworząc psychopatyczny obraz dla głównego bohatera.

James zajmuje się przegrywanie na DVD programów z telewizji oraz naprawa starych kamer. Codzienność go wręcz dołuje przy okazji nie może się pozbierać po tajemniczej śmierci swojej żony.
Pewnego wieczoru w czasie przegrywania zabawnej audycji nagle obraz zanika i pojawia się tajemnicza postać z maska na twarzy. James zaczyna doszukiwać się elementów które były ukryte na taśmie, kolejna taśma z dziwnym motywem tylko utwierdza go w przekonaniu, ze jest świadkiem tego , ze ktoś porwał kobiety i następnie je zakopał a na filmie chce się na swoj chory sposób przyznać.

James przemierza dziwne miejsca by odszukać tajemniczego kamerzystę, towarzyszy mu kobieta która, probuje zrozumieć zawiłość całej tej intrygi.
James traci prace i coraz bardziej popada w rządze odnalezienia osoby, by moc być spokojnym.
Dzieło się ogląda bardzo dobrze, pierw powoli opowiada historie by ostatecznie w drugiej części filmu nakręcić wszystko tak by i widzowie zaczęli odgadywać zagadkę, a w trzecim akcie wszystko jest tak wymieszane, ze czujemy się zagubieni, ale jednocześnie usatysfakcjonowani tym co ujrzeliśmy.
Dawno nie widziałem tak zgrabnie zrealizowanego filmu, gdzie zamiast potoki krwi mamy zagadkę i trzymamy się jej do końca.
Film jest świetny
