Punisher a little different than all the others.
1.
The 1989 film is very specific, finally we get Frank Castle full of bitterness and with an interesting character (played by Dolph Lundgren) and he rides a motorcycle, which unfortunately does not happen in later films.
On the other hand, it's a Marvel movie from the worst era for this universe, although the movie has its own idea, but often the stupidity of the characters spoils the interesting moment.
2.
Frank in this version is not an old commando but a detective who one day loses his wife and two daughters (as we know in the comic there is a daughter and a son) by a bomb trap in the car, he decides to take revenge on every member of the mafia since then.
The film casts us into the future showing what the Punisher has achieved by killing over 120 criminals. Another thing is underway The Punisher is about to seize the drugs and… suddenly a Yakuza appears who changes a lot in Frank's vengeful task.
3.
The film is interesting in its own way, because Frank not only has to fight the mafia, but also the Yakuza, who started kidnapping the children of mafia families, although the mafia won't visit Frank, he has to work with him to save his son.
As for cancer, the twisted theme was quite neatly done, and seeing the Punisher working with the mafioso was something that will never happen again in the movies;)
4.
Of course, the movie has its stupid scene like the sudden appearance of a huge number of enemies or a scene with a homeless man who he knew the Punisher, but Frank did not know it;)
Dolph played very interesting here, despite the fact that many of his roles are pure action movies, he performed quite well here (not counting the scene in the prison) This is a film that you will either love or hate due to coarse production,
The film lacks panache and lightness to feel this heaviness known from the 80/90, it has its charm, of course, but when it comes to Punisher, it is unfortunately a disadvantage.
The painfully redrawn scenes, which were supposed to be strong and eventually during the screening, cause a sudden burst of laughter.
The script itself is an interesting look at the alternative world of the Punisher (here without the famous skull on the T-shirt) the film tolerates the realizations worse and many threads at the end are too flattened in terms of the intensity of the action (at the end of the action there is a lot, but we feel weary)
The main protagonist in this film is a member of the Yakuza, who decides to go through the mafia's influence in the US and kidnaps children from mafia. The Punisher must track her down and save the children.
5.
The film has aged a lot in some places, but it is still quite well-made for the 1980s and 1990s. The movie is consistent, although the finale is a disappointment, it is pretty good for most of the movie, and the final fight is nothing like a computer game;)
It's hard to recommend this movie if you are not a Punisher fan, you will be quickly rejected by the infantility of the characters and Frank's strange moments, if you like the Punisher it's worth watching because it is an interesting vision of a different Punisher than we know from later movies.
I rate the film on 6/10 because it's a pretty good script with a poor execution, on the plus side, of course, is Dolph who portrayed very well and the later animated series about Spider man see, was inspired by the character of Frank that was created by Dolph.
