The Korean entertainment industry is having so much fun and their projects are gaining loads of international recognition. For me, I'm all-in with Kdramas (Series/shows), but Kmovies (feature-length films) are not yet captivating to me.
These 2 hours films doesn't whet my appetite as much as Kdramas, but when I saw one of the official movie posters for this movie, Decibel, I concluded that I wouldn't want to miss out on it.
To be honest with y'all, the major thing that drew me to this is the A-list actors that were featured in it. I was curious to see how each of them will get to play a significant role within the 110 minutes runtime assigned to the show.
Lolz... As expected, it was awful. No offence meant, but this is exactly why I prefer shows to movies. The actors did their best to save the show, but 110 minutes is too small to allow viewers to connect with the characters and their dynamics.
This is what the storyline looks like;
A Navy commander who was on a sea mission with 43 of his colleagues made a dicey decision to sever the life of half of the crew with just a game of rope to conserve enough oxygen that will save the life of the other half of the crew after they experienced a submarine crash.
And after that incident, he got ropped into a series of sound bomb terror attacks, spearheaded by someone that lost his brother due to the decision of the Navy Commander.
As far as I can tell, the story would have been superb if it got stretched into a series. But, the way we got it (in the form of a full movie) made everything to be too fast-paced. The vice-captain who killed 22 Navy members didn't have enough screentime to show his emotional side.
This movie was all about the thriller. Most of the characters were emotionless and it made the show look too flat. Surprisingly, the only emotional person in the whole show turned out to be the guy that was planting bombs all over the place... An emotional psychopath. Haha. This is why we end up rooting for the bad guys in some movies.
Well, I think the trailer they released for the show was a captivating one. The movie editor and actors also did well... They saved the movie. But, the storyline was not good enough. A 6.5/10 rating is the best I can give the show.
Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop Or Comma.
