Here we are, 7 weeks later and the Book of Boba Fett has had its finale. This show is a strange one for me, it has been an emotional rollercoaster, if you've read my previous reviews you should know that. I was filled with excitement, wonder, unease, bewilderment, excitement again, joy, nostalgia and general happiness during the running of this show. I've had some speculation, some of which came true and some we are yet to see the results of. Overall I'm happy with how this show turned out, as it has expanded on some areas which I think needed expanding in the general universe of Star Wars.
In this episode we see the series conflict being resolved, as Boba Fett and the crew finish their preparations for the fight with the Pyke Syndicate.
I was surprised at the way all of the other groups who hold... or should I say held territory on Mos Espa turned on Boba Fett. I kind of knew it was going to happen but, I was surprised nonetheless when it actually did. I have to say, for all the complaining I did about the Gamorreans costumes, I was sad to see them go, out of everyone I think they were done dirty. Pushed off a cliff, what a way for them to go. I was expecting them to stagger back to the fight, but, no, they're gone. Santo and the Mods were under fire at the same time and losing until Fennec Shand saved the Mods. Santo held out well, but I thought he was gone too until he staggered back into the frame. When he was being fired upon I thought he was going to die right there and then, thankfully he didn't.
Baby Yoda or Grogu decided to take the shirt and abandon Luke, which I was surprised about, I was more surprised when he showed up in the X-Wing. Obviously, R2 was the one piloting it, but, it was a funny sight to see. Cad Bane also spilt the beans to Boba that it was the Pykes that killed the Tuskens, goading him into a premature fight. It was good though that he was able to restrain himself.
The Fight
This firefight had a few turns and it felt like the entire episode revolved around it, which I was pretty happy about. It starts off with Boba's people getting taken out, but, the true fight starts when Mando and Boba join in. From the start they kick some ass, flying in on their Jet packs and blasting the Pykes down, left and right. Until, being overwhelmed, then the people of Freetown show up to help the two of them out of their predicament. Which was a cool entrance, after that the remaining Mods show up and then Santo does, as I said previously. The tide turns until these big Scorpion looking droids show up, causing everyone to retreat. I thought the design was pretty cool for these droids and I'm happy to see some more things being added in that remind me of the Republic era.
Boba and Mando both separate and while Mando is on the run, he meets the woman who fixed the Naboo starfighter up for him and she has Grogu in tow. The meeting of the two of them was pretty emotional, but, as they were being chased they had to cut it short. Their getaway car is destroyed leaving Mando to fight the Scorpion droid, then Grogu helps by using the force the damage one of its legs. Cool moment, but, Grogu is still too weak to do any real damage. Everything seems to be lost, until, Boba shows up on the Rancor. Which was epic, it was a fight, but the Rancor made short work of it, before going to fight and destroy the second one and save the others.
Cad Bane
Cad and Boba had a standoff with one another, during it they referred to a lot of the things that happened during the Clone Wars, i.e. their rivalry during the show. It looked like Boba was bested, but, then Boba attacks him with the Gaffi-stick. Then he killed him. I was shocked, they just introduced him to live-action and then they killed him, I hope they haven't and they bring him back in some way, but, I doubt it.
After the battle is won, the leaders of the Pykes, other families and the mayor are all in hiding and getting ready to leave, when suddenly. Fennec Shand shows up and really shows off her assassin skills by wiping them all out. Also without dialogue which I think was a good choice, for the tone of the scene.
After everything is settled Boba and Shand walk through the streets, but, they say that this life isn't cut out for them and then ask each other if not them, then who? Then the camera hard cuts to, Santo and the Mods. So, by the sounds of it, Boba is handing them control and then they'll be most likely leaving the planet to go on some adventures elsewhere. The season closed with a nice moment from Mando and Grogu heading off-world. Then the after credit scene of this episode ends with Codd Vanth in the Bacta-tank. Which means he'll most likely help out ruling the planet.
Conclusion
The season went from, for me. Good, to, bad, back to good and then ended brilliantly. I was happy for the most part with how this episode ended, I really liked it. Apart from the fact that Boba Fett worked so hard for control only to give it away almost as soon as he gets it. Also, the fact that they may have killed Cad Bane, which I'm really not happy about and I hope he isn't dead, as I think he would be a good Baddie to have in this show or any following ones. But, I suppose maybe they just wanted to conclude his character and let this be his last job. Who Knows.
Now we have the Kenobi show to look forward to, which I'm excited about, but, I'm trying to keep that excitement under wraps as it can lead to disappointment, so I won't be speculating or watching any speculation videos.
P.s, now that Boba Fett is over I need a show to watch, I'm thinking of starting the Witcher season 2 and I might review it. I'll most likely do 1 or maybe 2 reviews for the whole season rather than episodic reviews. If anyone has any idea of a good tv series to watch drop it down in the comments for me, cheers. Also, if you've seen The Book of Boba Fett, let me know what you thought of it overall.
