The Baker's thoughts:
Point 1:
What I thought would happen:
When the couple was buying the diamonds with the pianist and his wife, I thought they’ll give her fake diamonds and that would be the end of the scam.
What actually happened:
The diamond seller made sure the money was in their hand. Then the police entered and made sure the money was lost by the couple in the commotion. Then the pianist and his wife led them to a dead end while they were being chased by the police and had to bribe the police again at the station with the couples credit card.
What I think the motivations here were:
The motivation here was primarily to suck them dry in a two part scam.
Point 2:
What I thought would happen:
When the dancer ate the egg that had something injected in, I thought he was gonna shit on the stage.
What actually happened:
While dancing he started passing out gas on stage.
What I think the motivation here were/
I think the motivation was to get the ‘jerk’ away from Antonio.
Point 3:
What I thought would happen:
When Carmen entered her room, I thought it would be Lucas who was in her room, I thought they were working together. We later find in another scene they are working together.
What actually happened:
It was the pianist in her room who also revealed she was a con artist and proposed they work together.
What I think the motivations here were:
The pianist wanted to increase his chance of getting the money.
Point 4:
What I thought would happen:
When Lucas was placing the gun under the towel in the toilet I thought he was gonna tell Antonio he is planning suicide.
What actually happened:
Antonio found the gun and he said it was for Russian roulette to pay for his daughter’s treatment.
What I think the motivations here were:
To gain more pity and I think its pretty clever this way you know he’ll die eventually but he is doing his best to save his daughter but not ‘selfish’ to commit suicide
Point 5:
What I thought would happen:
When Antonio was bargaining for lucas contract, I thought he had fallen for the 50-million-euro scam.
What actually happened:
Antonio knew it was a scam because veronica told him.
What I think the motivations here were:
I think veronica was feeling bad because her route of the scam depended on another person and the dancer was feeling and for the pianist he just wanted more money.
My thoughts
Point 6:
What I thought would happen(describe the scene):
The film would end in some way that had Lucas and Claydeman caught in some crime ring. This was because of the stats Antonio read out to them which was that 'Lottery winners get killed, lose their money, and so on.'
What actually happened:
In what appears to be months later, you can still see them going strong. Closing deals, making even more money. Also, Lucas is seen in the audience as he watches Veronica perform,so it was true that he came for her.
What I think the motivations here were:
Can't say there were any real motivations. Maybe the film just didn't want to end on that kind of bad guys meet a bad end note. It's nice to see something good come out of a situation like this.
Point 7:
What I thought would happen(describe the scene):
The wives would allow for their husband's to be hurt in the hostage scene lol. Even though I couldn't really imagine them saying 'alright, dad save your money and let them kill our husbands' because I didn't see why these women would stay with such horrible men, who had nothing nice to say about their father. With their glaring gold digging traits, I really thought it was a possibility.
What actually happened:
They were desperate to have their husbands back. They actually screamed for Antonio to transfer the cash for their ransom.
What I think the motivations here were:
Maybe they thought of their kids. Even though kids were not shown in this film. I assume that's what every woman would do in their position. It would be immoral even though they might have imagined their lives better without those men.
Point 8:
What I thought would happen(describe the scene):
Carmen's leaving would bring consequences. Same with Veronica. It's a scam/criminal film after all.
What actually happened:
There were no consequences. Their lives returned back to normal
What I think the motivations here were.
Lucas and Clayderman loved Veronica and would not do anything to hurt her. It just was not that type of film.
Point 9:
What I thought would happen(describe the scene):
I thought Carmen was genuine. I imagined she was a rich lady who was actually carefree and didn't bother much about the complexities of life. Like in the way she was so calm when one of Antonio's daughters brought her husband, Brendon after secretly getting married that morning to him.
What actually happened:
Well, surprise, surprise. She was working for/with Lucas. Thankfully she quit when she realized she cared for Antonio.
What I think the motivations here were:
Well, she must have fallen in love with Antonio and couldn't go through with the plans.
Point 10:
What I thought would happen(describe the scene)
I thought Lucas and Clayderman would be fighting against themselves and it'll all become very bloody and actually degenerate into something of a mob scene. Especially when I saw Clayderman with the syringe that set off the miscalculated farting episode in Brendon. Also, the scene where Clayderman arranged to have one of Antonio's sons in law thrown into the sea made me think this way.
What actually happened:
They put their differences aside and worked together with Antonio's interesting plan of kidnapping his sons-in-law to take the weight of having so much money and the trouble it causes/could potentially cause him off his shoulders.
What I think the motivations here were:
I think they were not hardened criminals like that. They were just guys you could appeal to and I guess that human side of them found a connection with Antonio's story.
And that's it from us!
