No sé si saben, pero American Horror Story es una de mis series favoritas en la vida, está en mi podio junto con The Vampire Diaries, You, Suits, Game of Thrones y otras más. AHS es una serie de antología, cada temporada es distinta, los personajes no se topan, a excepción de Murder House - Coven - Apocalypse, en donde algunos personajes se conectan o se mencionan. También ha habido pequeños cameos de personajes, como en Hotel, de un personaje de Murder House, pero hablar de ello es enredarnos un poco la vida. Esta es una serie de terror, que por alguna extraña razón no me da tanto miedo y disfruto muchísimo de verla. Tenía mucho tiempo sin ver esta serie. La última temporada que vi fue Freak Show, pero no le hice reseña, así que lo haré pronto. Pero, hoy les vengo a hablar de Hotel, la temporada que acabo de ver hace par de días, justo antes de empezar Roanoke.

I don't know if you know, but American Horror Story is one of my favorite series in life, it's on my podium along with The Vampire Diaries, You, Suits, Game of Thrones and others. AHS is an anthology series, each season is different, the characters don't bump into each other, with the exception of Murder House - Coven - Apocalypse, where some characters connect or are mentioned. There have also been small cameos of characters, as in Hotel, of a character from Murder House, but to talk about it is to tangle our lives a little. This is a horror series, which for some strange reason doesn't scare me that much and I thoroughly enjoy watching it. I had a long time without watching this series. The last season I watched was Freak Show, but I didn't review it, so I will do it soon. But, today I come to talk about Hotel, the season I just watched a couple of days ago, just before starting Roanoke.

En esta temporada nos situamos en Los Angeles, en el Hotel Cortez, una propiedad que me recordó mucho a Murder House por los acontecimientos extraños que suceden, aunque mucho más oscuro. Llegamos al Hotel Cotez por unas turistas suizas que piden una habitación y comienzan a ver cosas fuera de lo normal, y posteriormente desaparecen. Luego, John Lowe, un detective que investiga unos asesinatos muy extraños, llega a este Hotel tratando de atrapar al que se conoce como el asesino de los 10 mandamientos. Pero en el hotel ve a su hijo desaparecido, como una ilusión, y comienza a tener problemas con su esposa Alex, por lo que posteriormente se mudaría al hotel y seguiría investigando.

This season we are set in Los Angeles, at the Hotel Cortez, a property that reminded me a lot of Murder House because of the strange happenings that go on, although much darker. We arrive at the Hotel Cotez because of some Swiss tourists who ask for a room and start seeing things out of the ordinary, and subsequently disappear. Then, John Lowe, a detective investigating some very strange murders, arrives at this Hotel trying to catch the one known as the 10 Commandments killer. But at the hotel he sees his missing son, as an illusion, and starts having problems with his wife Alex, so he would later move to the hotel and continue investigating.

Inmediatamente, comenzamos a conocer a varios personajes, como la recepcionista Iris y el bartender Liz Taylor. La Condesa, Elizabeth, quien sería la dueña del Hotel y una Vampiresa, interpretada por Lady Gaga, su amante Donovan y posteriormente Tristán. Sally, quien sería una drogadicta atrapada en el Hotel que está detrás de John. Otra vampiresa conocida como Ramona Royale y el proximo comprador del Hotel, Will Drake un famoso diseñador. Eso sin contar todos los fantasmas que hay en el Hotel, porque al igual que en Murder House, una vez que mueres en los terrenos del Hotel, tu espíritu fantasmal queda atrapado. Y es una dinámica bastante interesante, ya que casi todos los personajes se desarrollan entre sí, con sus traumas, sus "pasatiempos" (matar) y a veces te cuesta distinguir quién es fantasma, humano o vampiro. Para tener 12 capítulos, yo la sentí larga, porque pasan muchas cosas.

Immediately, we begin to meet several characters, such as the receptionist Iris and the bartender Liz Taylor. The Countess, Elizabeth, who would be the owner of the Hotel and a Vampiress, played by Lady Gaga, her lover Donovan and later Tristan. Sally, who would be a drug addict trapped in the Hotel who is after John. Another vampire known as Ramona Royale and the next buyer of the Hotel, Will Drake a famous designer. That's not counting all the ghosts in the Hotel, because just like in Murder House, once you die on the Hotel grounds, your ghostly spirit is trapped. And it's a pretty interesting dynamic, as almost all the characters develop with each other, with their traumas, their "hobbies" (killing) and sometimes you have a hard time distinguishing who is ghost, human or vampire. For having 12 chapters, I felt it was long, because a lot of things happen.

Hay una dinámica entre La Condesa, sus amantes y sus "hijos", puesto que ella está un poco obsesionada con los hombres apuestos y de mandíbula afilada, un chiste de la serie. Además, ella "rescata" a niños que no son bien cuidados por sus padres y los convierte en lo que ella es. Es por ello que tiene par de enemigos que intentan acabar con ella, como Iris, Donovan y Ramona Royal. Por otro lado, John Lowe, mi pesonaje favorito, cae en la locura cada episodio, buscando al asesino que es el mismo. Es ahí donde entra James Patrick March, el dueño original del Hotel y quien tuvo el "proyecto" del asesino de los 10 mandamientos, que quedó pausada con su muerte y que intentó recrear con personajes como Jeffrey Dhamer, Aileen Wuornos y otros asesinos seriales. James Patick March fue el maestro de John Lowe, cuando su mente fue cediendo a sus lados más oscuros, hasta que completo los 10 asesinatos, uno por cada mandamiento, y murió posteriormente abatido por la policía, en los territorios del Hotel Cortez.

There is a dynamic between The Countess, her lovers and her "children", since she is a bit obsessed with handsome, sharp-jawed men, a running gag in the series. In addition, she "rescues" children who are not well cared for by their parents and turns them into what she is. That is why she has a couple of enemies who try to kill her, such as Iris, Donovan and Ramona Royal. On the other hand, John Lowe, my favorite character, falls into madness every episode, looking for the killer who is himself. That's where James Patrick March comes in, the original owner of the Hotel and who had the "project" of the 10 Commandments killer, which was paused with his death and which he tried to recreate with characters like Jeffrey Dhamer, Aileen Wuornos and other serial killers. James Patick March was John Lowe's master, when his mind was giving way to his darker sides, until he completed the 10 murders, one for each commandment, and died later shot by the police, in the territories of the Hotel Cortez.

Si bien mis tramas favoritas fueron las de La Condesa y la de John Lowe, también pasan muchas cosas dignas de mencionar como la muerte de Donovan, de Liz Taylor, la reunión de los fantasmas, la muerte de La Condesa, el desarrollo de personaje de Iris y el regreso de Billie Dean Howard, quien es una médium originalmente en Murder House y aparece para darnos un digno episodio final. Si bien esta temporada no es bien recibida por la crítica, no es la peor, pero la gente en internet dice que no es tan buena y solo tiene hype por Lady Gaga. Yo siento que la temporada es muy buena, a mí me gustó muchísimo e incluso me la vería de nuevo. While my favorite plots were those of The Countess and John Lowe, many things worth mentioning also happen such as the death of Donovan, Liz Taylor, the reunion of the ghosts, the death of The Countess, the character development of Iris, and the return of Billie Dean Howard, who is a medium originally in Murder House and shows up to give us a worthy final episode. While this season is not well received by critics, it's not the worst, but people on the internet say it's not that good and only have hype because of Lady Gaga. I feel that the season is very good, I liked it a lot and I would even watch it again.
