Hello friends, today I want to share with you my review of "Falling for Christmas", the movie that marks the return of Lindsey Lohan, and that was recently released on Netflix platform, I will share my opinion and highlight its positive points 👍 and negative 👎 from my point of view.
Hola amigos, hoy quiero compartir con ustedes mi review de "Falling for Christmas", la película que marca el regreso de Lindsey Lohan, y que se estrenó recientemente en la plataforma Netflix, les compartiré mi opinión y resaltaré sus puntos positivos 👍 y negativos 👎 desde mi punto de vista.
Summary/Resumen
Sierra is a rich girl, supremely snobbish, as it could not be otherwise, accustomed to the luxury that her father, the owner of a very exclusive hotel in the mountains and to which only bourgeois clients with high standards can access, very close to there is also a refuge which is about to be closed due to the fact that people hardly go there anymore. On one occasion while Sierra and her boyfriend are near this area, just when the boy is about to ask her to marry him, she falls down a hillside and hits her head, losing her memory, fortunately Jake (the owner of the shelter) rescues her and takes her to the shelter with his daughter (by order of the doctor). In this place Sierra will finally evolve, maturing and understanding that in life we must learn from the environment around us to fend for ourselves, she also finds a home and family warmth that she hasn't had since her mother died.
Sierra es una niña rica, supremamente snob, como no podía ser de otra manera, acostumbrada al lujo que le prodiga su padre, el dueño de un hotel muy exclusivo en las montañas y al que solo pueden acceder clientes burgueses con altos estándares, muy cerca de allí existe también un refugio el cual está a punto de ser cerrado en vista de que ya las personas casi no van ahí. En una ocasión mientras Sierra y su novio están cerca de esa zona, justo cuando el chico está a punto de pedirle matrimonio, ella cae por una ladera y se golpea la cabeza, perdiendo la memoria, afortunadamente Jake (el dueño del refugio) la rescata y la lleva al refugio junto a su hija (por orden del doctor) En este lugar Sierra finalmente irá evolucionando, madurando y comprendiendo que en la vida hay que aprender del entorno que nos rodea para valernos por nosotros mismos, además encuentra también un calor hogareño y familiar que no tiene desde que su madre murió.
My Opinion/Mi Opinión
I think I should start with the positive points of this film 👍 One of the things I liked was the photography, the director handles very well the audiovisual resources in this film, the colours we see on screen are quite bright, cheerful and typical of Christmas, the filters are warm, in short, they really make you feel inside the season even if you're watching it in July, the landscapes are wonderful and the performances are good for what this kind of films demand, the story is where I find faults, but in general terms I can consider this film as quite entertaining, one of those that you can watch when you are bored and want to pass the time watching something on TV 🙍.
Creo que debo empezar por los puntos positivos de esta película 👍 Una de las cosas que me gustó fue la fotografía, el director maneja muy bien los recursos audiovisuales en este film, los colores que vemos en pantalla son bastante llamativos, alegres y típicos de la navidad, los filtros son cálidos, en fin, de verdad logran que te sientas dentro de la época aunque incluso estés viéndola en julio, los paisajes son maravillosos y las actuaciones están bien para lo que exige este tipo de películas, la historia es donde más encuentro fallas, pero en términos generales yo puedo considerar esta película como bastante entretenida, de esas que puedes ver cuando estás aburrido y quieres pasar el tiempo viendo algo en la tele 🙍
But I definitely think they could have done a better job in terms of the story, that's where the negative points begin to emerge 👎 (in my opinion) First of all there is the blunder of contradiction, that is, at the beginning of the film we are told that Sierra's father has a very exclusive hotel that only a few customers who can afford the luxuries they will find there, But then Jake (the owner of the refuge) arrives to try to make an agreement with the owner of the luxurious hotel, because of him, his refuge does not receive as many people as before, so I wondered how a luxury hotel, with clients with very high standards can take clients away from a small refuge? They are supposed to be different concepts, they are made to handle clientele with different needs, those who are looking for the hotel want luxury, and those who go to the shelter are looking for a warmer and more homely place, so this doesn't make sense 🤦.
Pero definitivamente creo que pudieron haber hecho un mejor trabajo en cuanto a la historia, es ahí donde comienzan a surgir los puntos negativos 👎 (en mi opinión) En primer lugar está el error garrafal de la contradicción, es decir, al principio de la película nos cuentan que el padre de Sierra tiene un hotel muy exclusivo al que solo asisten pocos clientes que puedan pagar los lujos que allí encontrarán, pero luego llega Jake (el dueño del refugio) a tratar de hacer un acuerdo con el dueño del lujoso hotel, debido a que por culpa de él, su refugio no recibe tantas personas como antes, entonces yo me preguntó ¿Cómo un hotel de lujo, con clientes con estándares muy altos puede quitarle los clientes a un pequeño refugio? Se supone que son conceptos diferentes, están hechos para manejar clientelas con distintas necesidades, los que buscan el hotel quieren lujo, y los que van al refugio buscan un sitio más cálido y hogareño, así que esto no tiene sentido 🤦♀.
Another thing I couldn't stand was the abuse of clichés, friends I have nothing against clichés and in fact I think that if a director knows how to use them in his films he can have excellent results, for example one of my favourites is the body swap (used in movies like "The Hot Chick") but the bad thing about this movie (Falling for Christmas) is that it blatantly abuses clichés like for example the memory loss to force a development in the character, the rich girl who changes her way of thinking, the widower guy who needs a wife and the most used cliché recently... the airhead influencers, but worst of all are the absurd situations Sierra creates because of her lack of experience to fend for herself, just because she was rich and never learned to do anything.... Didn't she have something as simple as common sense, which all human beings have? Her movements are clumsier than they should be, she throws the eggs in the pan with all their shells and she doesn't even know how to make a bed, in short, a total and utter disaster.
Otra de las cosas que no soporté fue el abuso de los clichés, amigos no tengo nada en contra de los clichés y de hecho creo que si un director sabe como usarlos en sus películas puede tener excelentes resultados, por ejemplo uno de mis favoritos es el de cambio de cuerpos (usado en películas como "Este Cuerpo no es mío") pero lo malo de esta película (Falling for Christmas) es que abusa de una forma descarada de los clichés como por ejemplo la pérdida de memoria para forzar un desarrollo en el personaje, la niña rica que cambia su forma de pensar, el tipo viudo que necesita una esposa y el cliché más usado reciente... los influencers cabezas huecas, pero lo peor de todo son las situaciones absurdas que crea Sierra a causa de su nula experiencia para valerse por si misma, solo porque era rica y nunca aprendió a hacer nada... ¿acaso no tenía algo tan simple que tenemos todos los seres humanos como lo es el sentido común? Sus movimientos son más torpes de lo que debería, arroja los huevos con todo y cáscara a la sartén y ni siquiera sabe hacer una cama, en fin, un total y absoluto desastre.
In terms of character development, I think Sierra evolved the most because she went from being an absurd character to a normal one. Ah! But I almost forgot to mention her boyfriend who went from being a heterosexual person to a homosexual in seconds 🤣.
En cuanto al desarrollo de personajes, creo que Sierra fue quien más evolucionó porque pasó de ser un personaje absurdo a uno normal. ¡Ah! Pero casi olvido mencionar a su novio que pasó de ser una persona heterosexual a homosexual en segundos 🤣
I don't think it's a good film and I don't think it's the best Christmas film, that's why I prefer to watch old classics rather than new films, most of them, to my opinion, leave a lot to be desired, of course I must also take into account the fact that this is not my favourite genre at all, even so, as I said before, I think it's a film you can use to pass the time.
No creo que sea una buena película y mucho menos opino que sea la mejor película navideña, por eso es que prefiero ver viejos clásicos que las películas que salen recientemente, ya que la mayoría de ellas, a mi gusto, dejan mucho que desear, claro que también debo tomar en cuenta el hecho de que éste no es mi genero favorito en lo absoluto, aún así, como dije anteriormente, creo que es un film que puedes usar para pasar el rato.
These have been my thoughts on "Falling for Christmas" I would have liked to see Lindsey Lohan in a different role for her comeback, but this is what we got, however I think it's fine by this generation's standards. 👌
Estas han sido mis opiniones acerca de "Falling for Christmas" Me hubiese gustado ver a Lindsey Lohan en un papel diferente para su regreso, pero esto fue lo que obtuvimos, sin embargo creo que está bien para los estándares de esta generación.
