I wrote here last week that I'm on my way to go see "The Forge" during my review on "War Room" because I noticed both movies has same characters. Honestly, I didn't expect everything the movie had to offer and I mean that in a good way. I'll share just my thoughts with the mind that you'll go see it too and experience it yourself.
"The Forge" was recommended for me while I was downloading "War Room" and I saw on the poster that they might be just about same characters but different story so I added it to watch list and early this week, I saw the movie.
"The Forge" is a 2024 coming-of-age family drama starring Cameron Arnett, Priscilla C. Shirer, Aspen Kennedy, Karen Abercrombie and T.C. Stallings. Okay, that's just 3 characters from the other movie on this one but there are other same characters not mentioned here who appeared.
I want to talk about each character but I think I'll spill too much about the story and may give spoilers if I do that. So I'm just going to give a brief one about the storyline and what I like about each character, especially the new ones I got to know in this story who played their roles so well.
The Plot
The Forge is about a high school graduate, Isaiah living with his single mother and playing around with friends with no plans after graduation. He is pushed by his mother to find a job and make better decisions. In his search of a job, he meets Joshua Moore, a wealthy man who happens to have more to his name than it seemed. His life changes after he begins to work at Joshua Moore's company as an assistant and close disciple to Joshua, an agreement made to start.
The story opens with a good arc and conflict around Isaiah's life especially with his rude attitude towards people not minding their age, even I was put off with his behaviour but I understood as the story went on that it was all a play towards making him a better man. Aspen Kennedy (Isaiah) is a good pick for that role.
The development of his character is my favourite part of the movie, how he went from "I don't care" to helping people see more in themseleves, is a beautiful transformational story. And I'll give the credit to Cameron Arnett (Joshua Moore), who at first, saw beyond his rude first impression when he wanted to get a job and chose to disciple him.
The background stories were unexpectedly interesting and full of twists and good suspense too, especially with the life of Joshua Moore. How he came to become the wealthy and great man that he is, as Isaiah began to unravel to know more about his first Boss. The wife of Joshua Moore is not one not to be mentioned too
And finally, I loved the scene where the story introduces characters from "War Room", I think that was an amazing connection to the story. With T.C. Stallings as the uncle, Priscilla C. Shirer as twin sister to Isaiah's mum. The prayer moments, the realizations, the work, the rewards and tear-jerking ending that I love, it's a 10/10.
