So I couldn't wait anymore to start watching the first season of House of the Dragon. Actually, I was planning to watch the whole season at once but I couldn't resist myself anymore and jumped in. So far it has dropped 5 episodes and 5 more are yet to be aired. Five more weeks to be waited for and then maybe years to taste it again. I think the number of movie lovers would be very few who haven't watched Game of Thrones so far or haven't heard of it. This is one of the greatest tv-shows in the world. Now we GOT back to House of the Dragon as a prequel to Game of Thrones which would be showing us the events of 172 years before the birth of Daenerys Targaryen. Everyone remembers Daenerys Targaryen, right? Simply it contains the events of 200 years before Game of Thrones events.
So how did it start? Targaryen family, this name is familiar from GOT related to history with dragons. Here we started this, they are now on the Iron Throne, ruling the seven kingdoms. As I am midway, how do we start? Kinda confused. I think I would go with the individual characters that I might want to talk about. Let's do this and see how it goes.
So, we get to see King Viserys Targaryen, the fifth king of the seven kingdoms on the Iron Throne. Viserys has only an heir to his throne, his daughter, Rhaenyra Targaryen and so he had a craving to have a more male heir to continue his legacy. Even he had sacrificed his queen in want of a son and at last, made his daughter the heir of the throne who was in her teenage. I would say he was performing his duty pretty well and was true to his daughter.
Daemon Targaryen, brother of Viserys Targaryen. His character is kinda conflicting with Viserys, he wanted to sit on the throne or be announced as the heir to the throne but the king didn't so he had to play his own moves. Unlike Viserys, Daemon was a warrior along with being a dragon rider. We had seen his bravery in the war of stepstone. Do we remember the incident with the Lannister family? Keeping that in mind, don't get too surprised on seeing any inappropriate proposal, for throne one might go to any extent.
Rhaenyra Targaryen, daughter of the King Viserys and an heir to the throne. She was in her teenage when she lost her mother and was announced as an heir. Years passed and she started to learn how things work and started to understand the politics between the houses. She hates to be married as a political deal between the great houses just to strengthen their positions. She somehow started to give me a vibe of Arya Stark from Winterfell in GOT. She was a teenager too and later turned out to be great. Here she is, gaining maturity little by little.
Alicent Hightower, daughter of Ser Otto Hightower who was serving as Hand of the king. She married Viserys as a plan of her father to make his bloodline sit on the throne. Everyone is after the throne, after the death of queen Aemma the king had to fulfill his duty and get a new queen when he got proposals from great families to make stronger allies and the opportunity was grabbed by Alicent. I would say she is pretty, I liked this character, she might be attracted towards Daemon in the beginning but had to choose Viserys due to her father’s wish.
It sounded like a little introductory, right? Well, it is, after watching the first five episodes at once I am just hovering through the characters, plotting wishes based on them. If I had to predict based on the progress then I might think that the King might die soon or at the end of this season and when Rhaenyra claims her throne then Allicent might play against her for her son, based on the farewell words from her father. Daemon is acting against the king's interest but deep inside I do feel he won't be of no harm to Rhaenyra, am I getting fond of her? Yeah, I am getting attracted to her, maybe she is getting my prime interest to see her on the Iron Throne and ruling. But we all know, in the coming seasons the characters will turn more eventful, little ones that haven't been included yet will be getting more important, and things will be added more and more to amaze us with its story and events.
So in the middle of the season, this is all I had to express. It was a great watch, bringing back the memories of Game of Thrones. Seeing Rhaenyra riding on the dragon reminded me of the scenes of Daenerys Targaryen. Waiting for the next episodes to be aired, will be coming back after watching the rest of the episodes.
