Hace trece años, nuevamente el director, guionista y productor, James Cameron, revolucionó el mundo del cine con el estreno del film, "Avatar", una historia épica que nos traslada a otro planeta rico en muchos recursos y en dónde ocurre un enfrentamiento entre dos especies, los Humanos y los Na'vi para el control una parte de ese mundo; está historia sorprendió tanto al mundo que se convirtió en un mega éxito taquillero en dónde el uso del CGI fue llevado a un alto nivel que pudiera considerarse como perfecto; está fue una práctica tan bien hecha que muy difícilmente se ha observado en otras grandes producciones que hasta le quitaron el primer puesto como el film más taquillero de la historia y por eso creo que como aficionados al cine, si queríamos ver un gran uso del CGI y animación deberíamos esperar que Cameron y todo su equipo decidieran nuevamente hacernos viajar hacia el planeta llamado Pandora.
Thirteen years ago, again the director, screenwriter and producer, James Cameron, revolutionized the world of cinema with the release of the film, "Avatar", an epic story that takes us to another planet rich in many resources and where there is a confrontation between two species, the Humans and the Na'vi for the control of a part of that world; this story surprised the world so much that it became a mega box office success where the use of CGI was taken to a high level that could be considered as perfect; this was a practice so well done that it has hardly been observed in other big productions that even took away the first place as the highest grossing film in history and that's why I think that as movie fans, if we wanted to see a great use of CGI and animation we should wait for Cameron and all his team to decide again to make us travel to the planet called Pandora.
Desde hace mucho tiempo se rumoraba el plan que quería hacer Cameron con respecto a las secuelas de "Avatar", por un momento se pensó en realizar cuatro films más para así cerrar con cinco películas que relata la historia de Pandora y los Na'vi; justamente esta segunda película llamada "Avatar: The Way of Water", es la primera y puedo decir esperada secuela de la ahora épica franquicia que relata la vida de "Jake Sully" al ahora ser un completo Na'vi; si relación con "Neytiri" es perfecta porque a pesar de sufrir y perder tanto, ahora tienen una vida en paz en la tribu Omatikaya junto a sus cuatro hijos, tres propios y una hija adoptada, pero no todo puede ser felicidad y es que después de dieciséis años, los humanos deciden regresar a Pandora, pero esta vez su misión es más peligrosa que la anterior porque en vez de adueñarse de alguno que otro recurso para llevarlo a La Tierra; lo que buscan es adueñarse por completo del planeta para que está sea un nuevo hogar para ellos; está lucha hará que se tomen medidas extremas cómo es el uso de Avatares para que porten la memoria de soldados caídos en anteriores batallas para crear un comando especial y así terminar con la amenaza de Jake Sully y su ejército de Na'vi; esto hará que el mismo Jake tome la dura decisión de renunciar al liderato de su clan e irse lejos a otra tribu esperando que la nueva guerra no lo alcance y así pueda seguir viviendo en paz, pero eso nunca existirá por qué sus perseguidores motivados por el odio harán todo lo posible para atraparlo y es por eso que el llamado "Toruk Makto" deberá decidir si hacer frente a sus enemigos o seguir huyendo sin enfrentar a ese gran peligroso.
For a long time it was rumored the plan that Cameron wanted to make Cameron with respect to the sequels of "Avatar", for a moment it was thought to make four more films to close with five films that tells the story of Pandora and the Na'vi; just this second film called "Avatar: The Way of Water ", is the first and I can say long awaited sequel of the now epic franchise that tells the life of "Jake Sully" now being a complete Na'vi; his relationship with "Neytiri" is perfect because despite suffering and losing so much, they now have a peaceful life in the Omatikaya tribe with their four children, three of their own and an adopted daughter, but not everything can be happiness and after sixteen years, the humans decide to return to Pandora, but this time their mission is more dangerous than the previous one because instead of taking possession of some other resource to take it to Earth; what they seek is to completely take possession of the planet to make it a new home for them; This fight will make them take extreme measures such as the use of Avatars to carry the memory of fallen soldiers in previous battles to create a special command to end the threat of Jake Sully and his army of Na'vi; This will make Jake himself take the hard decision to resign the leadership of his clan and go far away to another tribe hoping that the new war will not reach him and so he can continue living in peace, but that will never exist because his pursuers motivated by hatred will do everything possible to catch him and that is why the so-called "Toruk Makto" must decide whether to face his enemies or continue fleeing without facing this great dangerous.
No descubro nada al hacer referencia al gran trabajo realizado por James Cameron y todo el grupo de efectos visuales en las dos películas de Avatar; sé que en esta nueva producción existe la oportunidad de hacer un mejor trabajo y justamente eso lo hacen muy bien. La decisión de trasladar la historia desde la selva hacia el mar es magnífica porque da la posibilidad de seguir regalando escenografías espectaculares, todas llenas de grandes detalles y muy cerca de ser perfectas y es que la animación es tan buena que cuando existe la interacción entre los Na'vi y humanos, no se nota. Las escenas de acción y en dónde se explora el mundo acuático del clan Metkayina son todas muy buenas; quiero resaltar las escenas de los combates, las cuales demuestran un mejor nivel del anterior film.
La historia sigue siendo narrada por el personaje de Jake Sully, aunque la perspectiva es mucho más amplia por la introducción de varios personajes; eso me ha gustado por parte del guion escrito por Cameron junto a Rick Jaffa y Amanda Silver; está historia, complemento de la anterior, es correcta porque es necesario enseñar cómo es la nueva vida de Jake, esta segunda oportunidad para sentirse completamente libre para justamente vivir y la decisión de hacer padres a él y a Neytiri, me gustó mucho, demuestra algo generacional, evolutivo en dónde posiblemente no se deba enfocar siempre en un personaje principal, sino que haya otros más que cumplan ese rol de protagonistas. Todo este asunto de la paternidad y liderazgo es un buen tema para la historia del film porque en mi opinión existe el tema de la imposición y obligación, junto al de encajar, sentirse parte de un lugar, de un clan y eso es algo que me gustó tanto en el primer film como en este.
I am not discovering anything by referring to the great work done by James Cameron and all the visual effects team in the two Avatar movies; I know that in this new production there is an opportunity to do a better job and they do it very well. The decision to move the story from the jungle to the sea is magnificent because it gives the possibility to continue giving spectacular scenery, all full of great details and very close to being perfect and the animation is so good that when there is interaction between the Na'vi and humans, it is not noticeable. The action scenes and where the aquatic world of the Metkayina clan is explored are all very good; I want to highlight the fight scenes, which show a better level of the previous film.
The story is still narrated by the character of Jake Sully, although the perspective is much broader by the introduction of several characters; I liked the script written by Cameron together with Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver; this story, complement of the previous one, is correct because it is necessary to show how Jake's new life is, this second opportunity to feel completely free to live and the decision to make him and Neytiri parents, I liked it very much, it shows something generational, evolutionary where possibly it should not always focus on a main character, but there are others who fulfill the role of protagonists. This whole issue of fatherhood and leadership is a good theme for the story of the film because in my opinion there is the theme of imposition and obligation, along with the theme of fitting in, feeling part of a place, of a clan and that is something that I liked in the first film as much as in this one.
Las actuaciones son buenas, puede ser extraño poder referirme a esta parte importante del film porque siendo sincero esto es un film animado con grandes efectos visuales, pero hay que recordar que cada gesto en los rostros de los actores y sus movimientos son captados para así dar vida a cada uno de los personajes que veremos en esta película; comenzaré refiriéndome a "Jake Sully" interpretado por Sam Worthington, en su corta participación (no quiero que este término sea considerado spoiler), su trabajo es bueno, su personaje tiene al ser padre tiene un gran peso de responsabilidad y al llegar nuevamente la guerra a Pandora, eso lo hace tener una carga importante de drama; claramente es un personaje maduro y que siente miedo porque tiene una familia a quien proteger; me aprecio genial esta versión de Jake porque es un desarrollo perfecto; de igual manera también ocurre con el personaje de "Neytiri" interpretado por Zoe Saldaña; si el personaje de Jake es más maduro, el de la gran guerrera Na'vi también lo es y es que al ser madre será protectora, pero más fuerte de lo que ya es y es que Neytiri es mi personaje favorito, es la mejor y su participación en el acto final como guerrera y madre es lo de mejor. Puedo hacer una breve referencia de Sigourney Weaver y Stephen Lang; la primera interpreta a una Na'vi adolescente y me hizo algo de gracia porque está actriz debe comportarse algunas veces como lo que es, una adolescente, pero su personaje, "Kiri", está lleno de secretos que seguramente serán revelados en los próximos films; el otro personaje al que se debe vigilar muy bien es a esta nueva versión del "Coronel Miles", sigue siendo un gran villano, menos despiadado por un tema que posiblemente tenga más relevancia en las próximas películas, pero creo que en esta nos demuestra que cambios pueden tener su personaje en el futuro; estos dos personajes que nombró en esta parte tiene esa similitud la cual su desarrollo será lo que dictamine que puede suceder al final de esta historia, tal vez uno más que otro, pero de que serán importantes de eso sí que estoy seguro.
The performances are good, it may be strange to refer to this important part of the film because to be honest this is an animated film with great visual effects, but we must remember that every gesture on the faces of the actors and their movements are captured to give life to each of the characters we will see in this film; I will begin by referring to "Jake Sully" played by Sam Worthington, in his short participation (I do not want this term to be considered a spoiler), his work is good, his character has a great weight of responsibility as he is a father and when the war arrives again to Pandora, that makes him have an important load of drama; clearly he is a mature character who feels fear because he has a family to protect; I appreciate great this version of Jake because it is a perfect development; in the same way it also happens with the character of "Neytiri" played by Zoe Saldaña; if Jake's character is more mature, the character of the great Na'vi warrior is also more mature and being a mother she will be protective, but stronger than she already is and Neytiri is my favorite character, she is the best and her participation in the final act as a warrior and mother is the best. I can make a brief reference to Sigourney Weaver and Stephen Lang; the first one plays a teenage Na'vi and it made me some fun because this actress must behave sometimes like what she is, a teenager, but her character, "Kiri", is full of secrets that will surely be revealed in the next films; the other character that should be watched very well is this new version of "Colonel Miles", he is still a great villain, less ruthless for a subject that may have more relevance in the next films, but I think that in this one he shows us what changes may have his character in the future; these two characters that he named in this part have that similarity which their development will be what will dictate what may happen at the end of this story, maybe one more than another, but that they will be important of that I'm sure.
Aproveche el momento del estreno de este film en formato VOD para ver Avatar: The Way of Water porque para ser sincero, no me motivo ver esta película en las salas de cine y con esto pienso que tome una acertada decisión porque en esta película si se sienten las más de tres horas de duración y posiblemente sea la única crítica que tengo del film; entiendo que por el desarrollo de la historia sea lenta aunque también pienso que era necesario porque imagino que Cameron quería demostrar principalmente ese nuevo mundo para esta parte de la historia y que ayudaba al relato de todo lo que debe experimentar los hijos de Jake y Neytiri que en mi opinión pueden ser los protagonistas en los futuros films. Con respecto a si me gustó esta película más que la anterior, puedo decir que la anterior es más divertida en su historia por cómo el personaje de Jake debe ganarse la confianza de un clan para tener una nueva oportunidad de vida y en esta oportunidad, la historia posiblemente no sea tan divertida primero porque existe muchas historias por los muchos personajes que posiblemente puedan hacer que la atención se divida, pero me gusta porque sigue siendo una historia de confianza y encajar para ser parte de un mejor lugar, eso hizo que me gustará esta segunda parte que sigue también explorando todo lo referente tanto a la vida como la muerte, en eso me gusta como se manejó ese tema tanto en el principio como el final y por eso digo que este también es un buen film, con escenas maravillosas, muy buenas escenas de acción y con un buen drama, tal vez más desarrollado que en la anterior película. Solo queda esperar a la tercera entrega que será estrenada en diciembre del 2024, la cual fue filmada a la par de esta película para seguir viendo la historia de Jake Sully en Pandora.
I took advantage of the moment of the release of this film in VOD format to see Avatar: The Way of Water because to be honest, I was not motivated to see this film in theaters and with this I think I made the right decision because in this film if you feel the more than three hours long and possibly the only criticism I have of the film; I understand that for the development of the story is slow but I also think it was necessary because I imagine that Cameron wanted to show mainly that new world for this part of the story and that helped the story of everything that must experience the children of Jake and Neytiri that in my opinion can be the protagonists in future films. Regarding if I liked this movie more than the previous one, I can say that the previous one is more fun in its story because of how Jake's character must win the trust of a clan to have a new opportunity of life and in this opportunity, the story is possibly not so fun first because there are many stories because of the many characters that can possibly make the attention to be divided, but I like it because it is still a story of trust and fitting in to be part of a better place, that made me like this second part that also continues to explore everything about life and death, in that I like how that theme was handled both in the beginning and the end and that is why I say that this is also a good film, with wonderful scenes, very good action scenes and with a good drama, perhaps more developed than in the previous film. It only remains to wait for the third installment to be released in December 2024, which was filmed at the same time of this movie to continue seeing the story of Jake Sully in Pandora.
